  1. Thank you! Also, you and your evil podcast are partially responsible for this!!
  2. After saving for three months and being pushed over the edge by my girlfriend (whom I believe is probably a beckoner) I edited my pledge from dual commander to Tyrant with way too many addons. Am I going to receive 2 Thraces and 2 Binhs? I really don't see why not but I just want to make sure. And are they going to be the alternate version + UV treated cards?
  3. The South Wales borderers, the King's hand, The artillery team and Edmonton are really going to push me over that tyrant level pledge. I'm trying so hard to not like the Earth factions. I really am... The fact that I would have to spend a ton to add artillery team and my favorite Abyssinia models separately is helping quench the urge. But you guys aren't really helping either. British conspiracies at work here..
  4. So.... I'm already backing this project up as a dual Commander plus oodles of add-ons from cult and hordes. I was going to pledge to the Planet Apocalypse Kickstarter this month but the more I think about it, and the more my girlfriend talks about it, the more I want to put those funds into this game and either go tyrant or at least pick a third faction. Anyway, since Devouring Eels are 50 bucks a pop, depending on how many I need, this might affect there final decision. Has anyone tested these babies out to see how often they summon another copy of themselves? Also... How many egg clutches?
  5. I think the intent was to make the golem luck muddy and "wet". I like that he doesn't look like an alternate Bad Juju and I think they might have been trying to avoid that.
  6. The last two weeks have made me seriously consider upping my dual Commander to Tyrant..
  7. Old thread, but I think the sculpt looks even better than the art
  8. Most are without the baby crawlers but the picture in this link has them:
  9. Hey guys! Not sure if it has been clarified before but I have seen the Alpha crawler with and without the tiny crawlers on his back. Is the final sculpt with or without? Hoping for the former :}
  10. Trust me, you want Philip. If he's not drawing cards he's denying your schemes. And four cards a turn are better than 1 + a stone.
  11. Hoffman should be able to reliably deliver his giant bots. I'm one of the few people that likes the Malifaux child with him using up a high card to loop and killing him right after so that the condition never ends and distance matters less after that. While Austringers use cards, it's not too bad since you'll rarely if ever have to cheat on the attack flip. All you need is one low df model out of cover. If you deliver something big in the lines, I'd want to kill Phillip and the Nanny anyway. Don't bother with Mortimer since he's just giving a corpse from now on anyway. Numb to the world on your beater also protects from the grasping hands condition and terrifying stops mattering. If you want to bomb Justice in the crew with the Emissary you might be able to use the markers dropped for Philip (can't remember if enemy scheme markers are usable). Might not always be an option, but it's nice to punish someone for not considering it. I'd be more concerned about Sonnia than lady J. Hard to wound is a pain, but high willpower is your friend. And blasts generally do more damage in wounds than Nico is summoning since he likes to operate in a ball.
  12. I think Guild has the hardest time against ressers in general. Sebastian alone can be a total nightmare with Under Cover, and it's not like he's doing much else with his AP. The only thing that scares the living hell out of me is Austringers with shoot 7 and the Jury giving them masks against an army of def 4 and 5. Outside of that, Sanctioned Spellcasters prevent easy "lure 6 times" victory points with everyone plying from whatever model those belles happened to catch, and make public demo look a lot harder. The new Hoffman also looks a lot scarier. Ball vs Ball, the student of steel and Shikome are not doing much anymore, and the Emissary is probably never going to miss the repeated shots on his trigger. I usually like the peacekeeper more than Langston, but it's hard to survive the potential decapitates when your stones are going to summoning and your hand is fed to Austringers. I really do think that guild needed better tech against ressers and perhaps they just got it. I'm not surprised that the sanctioned Spellcasters and the Domador de cadaveres (or cadaveros.. can't remember) came out in the past two books to address that.
  13. Wait a second. Stones don't matter to Nico? Only one or two? I think all of this is pure conjecture. There are only 4 cards in the whole deck that can summon anything that can damage you if he's out of Stones. Unless you're afraid of getting mauled by crooligans I guess. It really sounds like you are just waiting for "He's unbeatable" as a response to your comments. Before the podcasts from the UK started talking so much about him no one even thought he was that great. People who claimed he was good were criticized. He's really good. Top 3 summoners for sure. But all your cards and stones go to summoning, just like with other summoners. Prevent him from freely drawing forever with Philip and the Nanny and/or Sebastian and he's already in a worse spot. Put a strain on his stones and you are effectively preemptively removing one future model from the table for every stone you take. I also think that wave 5 shifted the meta to a way more aggressive style. All factions have huge turn one openers and alpha strikes. It sounds like you want to leave Nico alone for the first couple of turns and still win. That's not how attrition works. Wave 5 gave him Kentauroi, which are the resser alpha strike tech for this wave. The same tech is also very good at putting an end to him. If you're playing thunders, take your pick of Shadow Emissary, Sensei You, Yasunori, terracotta warrior and charm warder and go ahead and make summoners miserable. These are all very, very good models are not Nico specific, so you're not suffering having to pick them. Hell, after charm warders, declaring Molly into thunders is a nightmare, they are very good against Nico too, although not as destructive. These suggestions don't even take into account the Master! Asami can use all those corpse markers for herself and have the yokai blast everything to shreds with the emissary's buff, Misaki can remove more wounds than Nico can summon. Once again, these are strong Masters against ressers regardless of the specific matchup. Are you depriving yourself of the tools and tactics you need? Ask for solutions and you will receive them from a very helpful community. You're just screaming fire and not letting anyone put it out.
  14. Sure, use all the stones to save Asura or Philip. How is he going to summon anything after that? Every stone for prevention is one less crow for summoning. Nico is strong, but these are all hyperbolic statements. What factions/masters are you playing? Maybe the community can help with some tips against Nico. What you are saying is not really constructive. The post was meant to give advice, not promote general despair. What master are you playing? Maybe there are some things you can do differently. If you play thunders, judging by some of your comments with Yasunori + Emissary, Asami can be a nightmare for Ressers. You already identified how good Ohaguro Bettari is and, if you're playing against ressers, she's a safe bet anyway. The new Misaki is also very scary against ressers. hard to wound can get in your way, but the low defense on the models lets you hit a lot and the engine is usually clumped up. You can also try to use Yin to put casting on negatives, and the new crime boss helps with HtW. If you clarify the specific issue maybe a specific solution can be found.
  15. I only knew last year's list. I remember that one running belles and Archie. My bad. But I also think he took the title home with that too. The comment I replied to also described nothing but corpse marker generation. I wouldn't leave home without Philip and the nanny and someone to feed her markers. And I don't think hiring the Carrion Emissary or the student of conflict is ideal either, as Polish Sausage suggests. I'm not sure that hiring belles was the cause of the loss this year but hey, I wasn't there. If Jamie says that going all in with the engine is the way to go, I don't have much weight to put on the other scale.
  16. Feel Their Torment TN 15 - Needs 8 Twist and Turn TN 14 - Needs 7 Driven By Injustice TN 13 - Needs 6 Feel Their torment on Greed needs an 8 + the WP resist on the enemy (That's probably two 8+) [Just an example of one of the most ideal things to copy to maximize Feel their torment as otherwise "The Greed Spreads" can only be cast once per turn]. So, to use something like The Greed Spreads on someone with Feel their torment you have to: - Be within 8 of Greed - Succesfully cast with an 8 - Be within 8 of Enemy Model - Win opposed WP duel This is one example, but that's a recurrent thing with Daw unless you're beating on someone, in which case CA7 vs Def and WP on his attacks are pretty nice but even then you might have to hit with Suppressed memories vs wp, burn a stone for ghost of Malifaux, hit with noose, place upgrade, hit with noose again, remove upgrade. There are just SO many moving parts. Generally speaking other Masters with TNs make up for the cards needed in other ways. Kirai, for example, uses high cards to summon but the adversary conditions give + flips. Sandeep does the same, using the Gamins to get the + flips. Asami gives out focus. Collodi gives out focus and AP. If we look at beater masters, all their high cards go to the attacks themselves. They don't spend cards on high TNs and charge in hoping to flip nicely. Jack Daw is in between. TNs everywhere on his card, upgrades, and his tormented buddies but no real way of making up for the math through focus, flips, or card draw. That's why people play him more successfully as a dedicated beater so the high cards actually have an use. But at that point, why play Daw in the first place? Vik and Misaki can do the same to multiple targets, Levi can bypass reductions and has higher survivability. The poor guy is defense 4. A focused attack is either going to melt him or make you cheat those high cards again. Same on Jaakuna or anything else. Need an 8, after that, you get the actual duel and you can BJ either one. Share guilt needs a 6 on the guilty or an 8 to copy and a 6 for Jack Daw. That's not counting the fact that the rest of your crew needs those cards too, like the 5+ for Sue and Marlena Webster. If you play him as a beater, sure, TNs don't really matter except for the 6 on Driven by Injustice. But I really, really find that Levi, the Viks, and Misaki are so much better at it. Generally speaking other Masters with TNs make up for the cards needed in other ways. Kirai, for example, uses high cards to summon but the adversary conditions give + flips. Sandeep does the same, using the Gamins to get the + flips. If we look at beater masters, all their high cards go to the attacks themselves. 17. The Pandora player decides the order in which it happens.
  18. Rusty Alice if you have her, or Anna Lovelace (Who does not randomize in melee when shooting so she can take advantage of "dead man walking").
  19. It's just that, played that way, half of his card, theme, and master specific upgrades are irrelevant, which is kind of sad, and although it is probably more effective, why not just play Levi, Viks, or Misaki? He can be a beater, but I don't see myself picking him over another one in faction. And he can be supporty, but he needs to many cards for all those TNs.
  20. Not to start an off topic diatribe, but even Jamie Varney doesn't put that much in the "engine". At least some belles, a Doxie, maybe Anna, and Archie usually show up, and no Emissary either. If you pay that many stones for corpse marker generation, it would take you at least two turns to summon that many stones in. Might as well just hire it at that point.
  21. If that box indeed has belles for Seamus, an ancestor for Yan Lo, and Oni for Asami, there is a high likelihood that Wyrd has been feasting on my dreams. And the aesthetics... Ah the aesthetics... All of it is so beautiful..
  22. So beautiful! Are the two side figures made of paper? And alright. I'm starting ten Thunders.. first Asami, then this. Are you happy???? Are you happy!?!?!?
  23. That's a 37 stone investment! I don't think that's realistically going to happen.
