  1. Sooooooooooooooooo... Still no comment on the forum badges then? oO I think they were given out last year... at least for the winter painting contest they were...
  2. I made a promise to myself like a couple months ago - no more zombie or dog miniatures... ever... no matter what - I've got way too many of both and little to no desire to actually paint them. I don't like these at all, so that helps too. I'm indifferent to the poses but the choice of armor is pretty damn blah. Just not interested. I've got 4 robot dogs from the WWX line now so I couldn't be happier with them proxying any "dog" character in any game from here on out. .... Also, in before thread lockdown.
  3. First the list? First you must explain this "glorious plastic" that you speak of. >8) I'm hoping they keep the releases steady but not overwhelming per month though it would be nice to get the old stuff done with already. Its an interesting scenario you find yourself in when you can technically play with models that aren't actually available. Kind of annoying, really.
  4. Well... oops... Okay, so... FYI... I am definently not painting anything related to Jack Daw or Montresor... just so that everyone is crystal clear on that. >8) --------------- Here's the most important question - does everyone who submits at least one entry get a sexy forum badge of some kind? The answer to this question shall make or break my participation in said event. Thanks. EDIT: Fine then...
  5. Needs a pimp hat and a cane and then I am in total agreement with you. I guess I'll just put a a pimp hat on ol' Marcus - he can be my Baron Samedi. >8)
  6. Ugh... I don't have time for this... but I'll probably try to whip something up for at least a couple categories. I'm taking the "Trick or Treat" category as a sign that I should finally get my Jack Daw/Monty proxies done up. --------------- Question: If I post pics of my submissions in my WIP/hobby thread on the forums before the voting date - does that count as disqualifying my submissions or is that only in regard to submitting your stuff in other painting competitions? I don't want to wait a month and a half to post my pics of what I've done into my hobby thread if I don't have to. Thanks.
  7. Old Confrontation Fire Elemental would make a pretty damn spot on A&D. I was actually brainstorming and thought of that fire/water/wind spirit elemental thing from Descent 2nd Ed. But that's even better!
  8. oO But what if you like or dislike the model specifically because it does/does not have clothes? For example, I specifically dislike a large number of models specifically because they are wearing clothes. >8) ---- Seriously though - I'm slowly starting to realize - purely in terms of aesthetics - there is no doubt that rezzers have the best looking models - this isn't opinion - this is practically fact. Like it or not - pound for pound - if you want to be the sexiest gamer at the tables you gotta play with dead hookers and badass necrophiles. zFiend - feel free to like this post... I know you want to.
  9. I'm not making any official judgements until I see the plastics in person - I have a feeling it will suffer big time from Wyrd Plastic's lack of depth of detail - the fact that the renders show A&D's layers to be smooth is pretty forboding proof of this. I might have to detail it up myself or proxy with a huuuuuuge centerpiece... honestly I might just stick to the original. Not to say that the concept isn't great - the clean cut concept of this one blows the original out of the water - I just feel I should have definently been a resin model with deep rocky/ashy/sandy recesses like the original but with this beautiful concept. If this ends up being another baby-smooth model like Plasty Chompy Bits, I'll probably just find myself a big hige centerpiece proxy (like a converted mourngul or something /shrug). I'm starting to learn that I'm not a big fan of Wyrd Plastics when it comes to models that "should be" heavy detailed. Already know I will not like Dust Storm - I actually really like the original dust storm so I'm cool with that.
  10. I've used unofficial proxies in gaining grounds tourneys before - even at adepticon... no one really cares, honestly. Its all just overly official rules that don't make into practical use that often. Just ask your opponent before you play. I'd be pretty *raised eyebrow / rolling eyes* if someone told me I couldn't use a badass proxy/conversion I did up. Also, official Wyrd stuff is all legit anyway - you can use any Twisted stuff officially. Apparitions as Guilty is as good as it gets.
  11. Marcus and Myranda are both Beasts, and they wear clothes. So what you're saying is that Marcus and Myranda both have some interesting secret past times? From what the internets tells me - some people enjoy dressing up as animals in order to fulfill certain fantasies. I now choose to believe that these winged creatures are dressing up as humans to achieve such a goal in a paradoxical fashion. Let us not discriminate, people. Also - I can't remember - have we seen the winged plague yet? I'm hoping for a Stephen King's Graveyard Shift treatment, myself.
  12. At least two of us are way more Marvel fans than DC fans. How disappointing... Maybe if you told me that you were 90's marvel character fans I could be okay with that. zFiend - At first I thought I disagreed with you for once but now I think I'm indifferent - I like the sculpt but the more I think about it its probably mostly because I can make it into a Man-Bat - which is kind of a silly reason - otherwise I guess I'm indifferent to the clothing but I do think its more interesting. Also... holy crap - you just made me realize that my Howard is missing a robot penis - is that what all those tentacles are for? ... but I digress... >8)
  13. The truth is gap filler of any kind has never worked to a standard I have been happy with. Honestly, I put layer after layer of primer or a thick base coat over/in the gap/hole until it is filled in - takes a while but works everytime. Same goes for fixing bubbles in resin - layer that shit on and cover it up with some pretty thin layers after. With the new Wyrd plastics you have to be careful because the details fill in quick but the gaps do to! If the gap or hole is a large one - plain old two part green stuff is the way to go. Forget the fancy liquid putty. Its all garbage as far as I'm concerned.
  14. zfiend - When you see what I'm planning, you may or may not shat bricks - also, it probably won't be replaced - I'll play both depending on what I feel like that day... the new Levy will be more "display" oriented (though still playable). The steam-pimp has a special place in my heart. Viruk - You make me blush. ------------- Ugh... okay back to work... been so busy with other stuff my hobby is suffering big time... here's a preview of some more "models-I-don't-really-care-about-but-feel-compelled-to-finish -because-they-are-already-assembled/primed-and-taking-up-space-at-my-painting-station"... just so that... you know... you don't think I'm messing around and getting lazy. And, yes... just in case you are still wondering - we will still be talking about the interaction between young women and old men next update.
  15. Vallejo - though I might switch to Badger's Stynylrez because I can't tell a difference and its cheaper. Black for all bases (so the mini is brighter than the base) and black for all/mostly metal minis and white for absolutely everything else - even if its a mix of metal and nature elements. Airbrush friggin' eveything. My days of brush priner are over (unless I miss some spots ).
  16. Pretty sure the guys at Wyrd are unconsciously super huge Batman fans - pretty sure that isn't a night terror so much as it is Kirk Langstrom the Man-Bat. There is a suspiciously large amount of characters in Malifaux that seem to be steampunk't DC characters... or maybe its just me? I'll give another thumbs up for scenic base elements - huge props for that. Really hope it continues in the future. Math - I find bases to be easily mixed and matched - so long as you keep a consistent style and paint scheme across your crew you can mix anything together - for example: my Levy/Ramos crew has trash/tech/bio-tech/pipeworks/powerplant and mech bases all mixed in together. I make "rules" for what elements of the bases get which colors and follow it throughout the whole set and I feel they mix together quite well! (your opinion may vary). There's no reason that pillar cant be a piece of building sticking out of a trash base or even a collapsed structure in a cemetery. Get creative! ... and if you don't like it - you don't even have to use it, after all.
  17. Still hoping for the long shot of getting a Nightmare Jack Daw crew. /poutyface
  18. Very interested to see the results and if pics of the best/second best painted (there were two, right?) could be posted, that would be great. Or, perhaps, someone could direct me to where such things exist, that would be great. Thanks.
  19. I dunno about the band... but if we are talking strictly about the sins, then I am A: most, and B: most. These are the harsh realities.
  20. Optimally, you want to match personalities with the opponent you are playing against. I don't like playing against super casual "just for fun" players as much as I don't like playing against fanboy rules lawyerig neckbeards. I want a serious game - there's no reason a game can't be both serious and fun. Also... absolutely can't stand super sensitive gamers you need to tiptoe around to avoid offending and I seem to even make a point of it to be even more forward and brash when approached with said person. Call it the result of a clash between personalities, or what have you, but if you expect me to cater to your specific intricacies, you've got another thing coming. Within reason, of course, but I'm talking about all those excessive "nice-guy bandwagoners" or hyper-senstive people that must never leave their house. A couple more points: "Its just a hobby - whats the point if its not fun" mentality: I will never invest any amount of time into anything I do unless I am fully dedicated and serious about what I do - "fun" is a side benefit. The "gotcha" thing - sucks but it happens. I lose more to misinterpretations of the rules or things I didn't know about than anything else. I'm also guilty of winning in the same fashion from time to time. Malifaux is too complicated for your average lay-gamer... its just something you have to accept, I guess.
  21. Helloooooooooooooo... So a thought keeps creeping into my head from time to time that I have a hard time ignoring. I really really really want to have a Luther the Hare model - anyone else interested in such a beast? This guy has "amazing model" written all over it. Perhaps it could be next year's easter model so we can get some non-gremlin action going. Perhaps The Carver needs a fellow holiday friend to hang with? Perhaps it could be an alternate Teddy model (gobble you up? omg perfect - and you could always use another Teddy, especially a Teddy that isn't really a Teddy). So much potential. For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about (for shame) - see attached photo. Thoughts?
  22. You could easily get away with HH games on a 18"x18" - or any other close deployment/small crew size quick games. Besides that... *looking shocked - walking slowly backwards into the ship cabin - turns head - looks solemnly* ...you're gonna need a bigger table.
  23. Any master I play doesn't need many extra - im fine with 3-5 pool, most times. Some masters are SS hungry (Ophelia, Nico, Ironsides) some give little/no shits (Misaki, McCabe). I mostly use them for card draw anyway because woooooow do my hands suck most of the time.
  24. Thanks for the reply - I was thinking it was some kind of blending/glazing but you really nailed it perfect so I wanted to ask to make sure. Love your stuff and the unifying theme throughout your 10T (even though they are 10T ). Keep it coming!
