  1. Hugging strange blondes usually gets me in trouble. What the hell [hug]Aaron[/hug]
  2. Okay first off, it's a beach blanket. A size 2 girl does not have a size 14 back. Paint some fun shit on that blanket and move along. But to the original post..... A Wyrd Place is a very Care Bear site. Crissy keeps it that way because that page attracts a lot of first time players who are also first time gamers and painters. Half the people there don't know what C & C is at all (Comment and Critique). If people ask for C & C then give it to them in the nice, polite, constructive way you described. If they didn't ask for C & C and you don't like their stuff scroll on past.
  3. Wyrd is still going to sell the hell out this model so don't expect any retooling of the existing molds for a size increase. Nekima is a classic succubus model wreathed in combat badassery. Many a gamer (from pen and paper to tabletop) outside of Malifaux will pick one up just because. Just ask Sophie the Succubus who, as Reaper's mascot, gets a new model every year. WYRD JUST MAKE US A NIGHTMARE EDITION.
  4. Welcome to Malifaux and Good Luck. Here's my contribution without much adieu. Tools: Side Cutter (like diagonal cutters) for initially separating parts from sprue. Cutters are frankly better for removing parts off the sprue than a knife because they can get a close clean cut without damaging the part. After the part is separated use a knife to further clean up. X Acto or similar cutting knife to cut and clean parts. Replacement blades Needle files for cleanup, also called jeweler’s files. Cutting Mat to work on. Plastic Cement for plastic models. Testor’s, Tamiya, Plastruct are all excellent brands. Super Glue for metal models. Don’t use for plastic. Gorilla super glue is excellent. Pin Vise (small hand turned drill) for making holes. Paint Vallejo Game Color, Vallejo Model Color, Army Painter, Privateer P3 Paints, & Citadel are all great paint for brushing on. Not suitable for airbrushing without thinning. Primer, probably best to use a rattle can. Armoury and Army Painter are reasonably priced. Krylon from a DIY store works very well too and is cheaper. Painting Tutorials Les Bursley’s Awesome Paintjob.com a lot of great info that you’ll be able to extrapolate from. http://www.awesomepaintjob.com/ The Awesome Paintjob YouTube channel. https://www.youtube.com/user/awesomepaintjob/ Wargamers Consortium’s YouTube channel. Not strictly painting, more all encompassing but very much worth a visit. http://www.youtube.com/user/wgconsortium/ Other Advice I almost forgot this great source for advice. The Facebook Page, "A Wyrd Place" It's got about 2,000 members now and the mods are really good, and the members are very active. Great advice for modeling, painting, and the rules of the game. There’s a concurrent thread on this forum. The information in it is good for a first time modeler. http://wyrd-games.net/community/topic/104001-a-beginners-guide-to-plastic-modeling/ This forum doesn’t have a whole lot of traffic comparatively. Over the years I’ve found Dakkadakka.com’s Painting & Modeling immensely helpful. Caveat, Dakkadakka’s Dakka Discussion and News & Rumors forums can be very cynical at times, but there is a lot of solid advice in the Painting & Modeling forum. Many members with years of experience, many questions asked and answered on a daily basis. http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/forums/show/8.page Hope that helps you out some! Enjoy!
  5. Great little guide for the new modeler. I would offer into the tools section a pin vise (small hand manipulated drill) and bits. Several times I've had to use one to widen out socket holes (Student of Conflict's braid, Howard Langston's back tenticles) in plastics. And if you have to do a metal (not in the scope of this article, I know) there's pinning which is much more common. I would also offer into the assembly section to use the assembly instructions and the 3D render on the back of the product boxes. Wyrd kits don't have part numbers and being able to look at the finished product (back of the box) have helped me immensely through the many builds. My first kit was Lady Justice herself and it took me a solid 30 minutes to figure out how the greatsword sheath attached to Justice...looking at the box for reference helped me finish the job.
  6. Or you could http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2050601.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.Xmalifaux+orange&_nkw=malifaux+orange&_sacat=0 Just sayin.
  7. Micro Arts Studio has resin jungle bases.
  8. He would be discarding a card to activate it.... Maybe Oirans are just defendy, not like uber +2 for 1 AP defendy, but rather, I'm always +1 defendy. And if they were on Colette's crew they have to decide between defendy and (0) AP Interacts. Admittedly that's not much. The only solace I can take in all of this is that Malifaux is a skirmish game and I doubt I'd see more than 2 or 3 figures doing that....at that would cost my opponent 2 or 3 cards. And to be honest Malifaux is a very defendy game. To me there are just some models not worth attacking. First time I fought Jacob Lynch and ran into a Depleted I was like "WTF?". 4 Stones for 8 wounds and Hard to Kill.... Don't waste your time. Oirans, to me, seem just like that...albeit to a lesser degree.
  9. what about the Guld Guard that were supposed to release a couple of months ago?
  10. Sounds pretty cool. Just brainstorming here to get the ball rolling. * if you're looking for other than flat terrain you can top your board with a plat of strofoam and go to town on it with knives and such. *Games Workshop makes a set of trees that are meaty and play the part nicely in a dark forest. The trees come off the plastic plate if you don't want to use the whole thing. http://www.games-workshop.com/en-US/Citadel-Wood *You could go down to your local fabric shop and get a small swathe of red fabric for a red carpet (going from the edge to the pulpit). This can be singed with fire, stomped on, etc for suitable weathering. Ok those are my three. Get your ideas in people. Help this groom out!!
  11. It adds a +2 to the initiative (so not too broken) and the move thing. I put it in Lady J last week. I used the move a couple of times and burned the upgrade for initiative on turn 4. It was useful, but not game making (or breaking).
  12. I've got a question separate but related. Concerning the 5 :blast scenario, if a model were to be hit by two of the tokens they're still only taking damage once correct?
  13. Great models. The guy with the "jaws of life" hands is awesome. And I like that they redid the original metal Executioner in plastic. I didn't have him and I wanted one...the release of these models was perfect for me. But the redo guy...his claw are thin, I'm afraid something is going to happen to them. Gotta be extra careful.
  14. I got a chance to play another game last night. Witchling Stalkers are good harassers...I didn't have enough points for a Handler and the two Stalkers I bought still pulled their weight. When they damage they do a burning +1 and if you trigger right you can get another burning +1...that's a weak 4 points of damage. And Marshalls...."Get in the box!!!" (did it to a whiskey golem for about 3 turns). They charge....two pine boxes, they die....Finish the job. Very good all the way around. I don't have any other minions for the Guild, but the two that I do have work really well for me. What's next?!!?
  15. Mei Fang --> Rail Golem. Nuff said. (Willy & Metal Gamin & Rail Workers oh my!!). My very first game I had to face this with my Guild crew and I'm still sore. Lucas McCabe -->I bought Samurais during GenCon because I thought they were cool and I forgot I could actually use them. WooHoo!!!
  16. I just got my Bodies box in the mail yesterday. Where's the option that lets him take nurses as Guild? I plan on using that 2x(Executioner, Witchling Stalker, Nurses) Looks fun!
  17. I can see using Expert Sleuth. It's cheap and if I don't toss it on an initiate it's a great mobility push.
  18. The prices on drive thru rpg are about the same price (a little cheaper actually) than the actual books you'll get at Wyrd's store. Shipping from Wyrd to Arizona will cost you $16.55, no tax. So the math is $16.55 + 7.50 per book. I mocked up an order for you. I live in California (further away than Arizona), so if anything the shipping will be cheaper. The $16.55 shipping was based on the weight for all four of the first ed books, so if you don't need all four it could be cheaper but I think that shipping price is a flat price. Prices in US Dollars =P MightyG
  19. Hey, I recently bought a Bodies of Evidence. I know eventually I'll take McM ressers, but my first faction is Guild and I've got the most models for Guild. What kind of crew would you attach to Mc Mourning when you're using him with Guild? What kind of playstyle is he using? Still poison?
  20. Expert Sleuth looks good on paper to me. I'd give it a try as I typically run a bunch of henchmen and enforcers and it's cheep. Whoops, those are guild upgrades.
  21. It's been a couple of weeks. Bumping. Again, I have a Miss Ery and I would like to trade it for the plastic Johana from the Somer's Teeth set. Thanks!
