  1. Well, all of the emissaries are 50mm bases, and Ht 3. So they sort of have to be a bit of a giant. They won't be too giant because that's only Ht 3 (compared to Ht4 like the Rail Golem). Just Whiskey Golem/Ice Golem height.
  2. Personally, I think the Mysterious Effigy would make a fine groupy. The bigger debate should probably be which two of the other six are going to accompany Wrath.
  3. Checking the cards in the starter box, they're all at Rare "what's in the box". I think it came down between making all of the models mercenary so no one has to feel bad about buying the box, while trying to avoid giving people a reason to spam starter sets.
  4. What diameter pipes are you looking for? That's going to make a difference between getting spare sprues, straws, or even just 1/8" or 1/4" PVC pipe. Or, one of my local hobby shop even has plastic sheets and smaller hollow rods.
  5. So you'd rather declare that there's an invisible Ht 1 enclosed wall covering the entire table (to produce the effect of being a cave system while actually being physically practical to play on) instead of using a house rule to produce the same result? The terrain traits are there to cover the common cases. Enclosed is for things like small building interior rooms, not large caverns.
  6. So, I'm looking at Wrath's Deal at the Crossroads upgrade (purple card with the Neverborn logo on it), where it says: Between that and Lead Singer Certainly looks like they went through enough effort to let the Seven show up and choose which factions upgrades to use (the whole point of declaring them as a different faction. ) in 50+ soulstone games. At a 35 soulstone Henchment or Master game, Wrath as leader would have to show up as Neverborn, though.
  7. Pfff. The number on my order confirmation is over twice that.
  8. More parts doesn't automatically mean a more awesome figure, but how a figure is posed, and which directions the details are carved into have big impact on how many parts the figure has to be cut into in order to be produced. I mean, the one arm down, one arm raised pointing but on the same plane, head turned, detail carved from the front or from the back, is pretty much the stereotypically 80's/90's single pose wargaming figure. (It's not that the direction has to be directly from the front or directly from the back, but detail can't go sideways because sideways produces parts that get stuck in the mold...) That's the Witchling Stalker pose--arms to the side, detail carved from the front and from the back. If the stalkers were looking left or right, their heads would be cut off and probably cut into two parts. Point one of the arms forward instead of to the side, and that arm is going to get cut off as its own piece unless all of its detailing is carved towards the body. Apparently there are more expensive (and more complicated) multiple-part metal molds that can be produced, if you want to cut details from multiple directions, but that sort of mold doesn't produce the traditional plastic sprue runners that are seen in plastic kits like Wyrd or Bandai produces. Because the additional mold surfaces come in through where the sprue runners would be. Disclaimer: I haven't tried to break up a model for casting, so I can't get into an argument over how Wyrd's chosen to divide up some of the models. But the posing of the models changes which directions the details are being carved, and that's what leads to more parts being needed for the model. So more parts doesn't automatically mean a more awesome mini, but more parts does mean more directions for detail to be carved into the model.
  9. What sort of crazy talk is this, asking about the production of decks of cards with custom artwork for Malifaux?
  10. I think the answer to "Can we use the Enclosed trait to play a board that is entirely indoors?" is "Yes, within reason." The point probably isn't to ruin abilities like Flight when you're playing inside a mine system. The point is probably to prevent the model with Flight flying through solid walls (because there's no way that it can fly above them). You probably still want to let it ignore other terrain.
  11. I agree with AOS. The generated by Undead Crowning doesn't care whether Nicodem tries to draw LoS or measure range from the Vulture, because the Aura is on Nicodem. Concerning the statement in the rulebook, the first example which comes up when scanning through the models is on page 131 of the Core Rulebook, on the Crooked Man: The next example is Somer Teeth Jones, page 227: Those are auras specified as part of the range of the the casting action, and if Nicodem had something like that then Vulture could be used for it. Undead Crowning doesn't qualify because it's a Rg: - ability which places an aura on a specified model.
  12. You know it's Wyrd when you assemble both the Two Player Starter set and the Torch and Blade (Sonnia Criid) box set, and when you discover that Wyrd actually has some one piece figures they aren't in the Two Player Starter set. Open Spoiler The Witchling Stalkers in the Sonnia box are one piece figures because they're posed perfectly for it.
  13. My suggestion would be to make sure to get one of the containers of plastic glue with a brush. (I really like stuff like the Plastic Weld because it works for several of the common plastic types...) It'll be way less mess than the tube stuff, and there are really neat things you can do with brushing glue over seams so that they melt down or fill in.
  14. "one inch circle punch" on google just now produced a bunch of images of the tool you're looking for. Craft stores like Michaels or Hobby Lobby, generally in the scrap booking and paper crafts section. But, you probably want the 30mm circle puch instead. The white area on the logo is about an inch wide, the whole logo itself (including the colored border) is a little over 30mm wide.
  15. The URL in the book is mixed case (capital S, capital P), your URL is lower case. The webserver should at least redirect from StarterPromo to starterpromo, if the working version of the form is all lower case.
  16. The URL in the book is: http://www.wyrd-games.net/StarterPromo That brings up the "We couldn't find the page you were looking for" page.
  17. Two minor glitches involving the two player starter set: The URL in the book appears to be wrong (or was wrong last week). I bought two copies of the starter set in the same purchase. Am I supposed to submit twice, or just receive two codes?
  18. I believe I'm going to sit in the Malifax area assembling and priming models with a "Will play pickup for games" sign tonight and Friday. Disclaimer: on my phone, the forum text while editing is white on white in the mobile version of the site. 0.0
  19. Really, I think the player with Animate Construct without the increased duration effect would be better off if they got used to "waking up" the construct when they wanted it to do something and "putting it to sleep" when they're done. Then, at the start of each dramatic time, the question is "Are you interrupting them while the construct is awake?" and have them justify their answer if they try to say "Yes." If you get into some weird situation where the character is going to keep the construct active continually, that's at least a minor hassle for the character compared to the character with the extended duration. Remembering to do something like restart the construct every hour requires a person to stop what they're doing, concentrate on the spell, and then try to concentrate on the interrupted task. So, if any other distractions are happening, that's justification to make difficulties slightly higher and make tasks take slightly longer. But, on top of that, you have the "... and it turns out you misjudged the time, because your Animate Construct expires" on your list of inconvenient things that can happen to the players at the flip of a black joker. So that's not a direct "caster tax" but an indirect strain on everything else they're trying to do. Disclaimer: Part of this is based on experience smoking cigarrettes, or rather periodically going outside to smoke cigarrettes while doing things like studying inside or watching movies. Smoke breaks are both completely trivial, something you can assume just happen, and completely break up the flow of long term activities.
  20. If multiple pushes occur (Note: A push of 0" doesn't count), then each of those pushes that ends within 1" of Lilith will cause strikes. That's important since you could be trying to push around her, or something. And some models end up with abilities that push, and triggers that cause more pushes.
  21. But superextremeawesomeserver.mydomain.com costs nothing at all once you have mydomain.com, while superextremeawesomeserver-mydomain.com costs money. Yeah, nowadays that money is about as much as a fancy cup of coffee, but still.
  22. I think I've just realized how incredibly stingy I am. I saw http://themostexcellentandawesomeforumever-wyrd.com instead of something like http://themostexcellentandawesomeforumever.wyrd-games.net and my first thought was "They had to pay $X for that domain name with the dash, instead of just $Y for the second server." Those dashes cost money, man. Those dashes cost money that could be used for plastic.
  23. I think you're misunderstanding what's going on. When the book says: that's the two models declaring which trigger for their ability they are going to resolve. But they aren't going to resolve that right then. What happens after that is the example doesn't continue for the half-column or so that it would take to walk through the rest of the steps, but instead assumes you're going to flip back two pages for the timing description for Declare Triggers under Opposed Duels. To quote part of that page: Because the rules specify: then you resolve the triggers as long as they're satisfied. Some of them involve a little bit of out-of-ordering, though. From the FAQ: "I've had this come up in games where my opponent or myself will get a trigger, ad then flip the black joker [for damage]." If you've gotten far enough to flip for damage, then you've determined that the duel has succeeded. Not doing any damage doesn't turn it into a failure.
  24. The phrase "push ... in any direction" is used over 36 times in the main rulebook for different abilities, and another fifty or so in Crossroads. If the rules meant a straight line, it would say push. Like so:
  25. According to those same rules the people at the shop are going to get the branding iron out and proceed to actually brand the player a cheater. The sort of people who have hyperbolic rules arguments are doing so because they enjoy hyperbolic rules arguments more than playing, and doesn't really have anything to do with the game itself.
