  1. Nice pursuit! really wanting that new TTB book.
  2. Yep, everybody has family matters...I suppose that Parker just has harder ones.
  3. Yes, so I advice you to pick the "Armor Trainning" Talent.
  4. Hi again! after a few days im gonna tell you about the first session in wich one we played "Cold Front", from Wyrd Chronicles 21 . It was more like a adventure-prologue having the players moving into the North, where the main adventure will be part ("Northern Aggression"). I Think that both the One-shot and the Penny Dreadful mix quite well because with the first you have a reason to move into Ridley and you have become a bit famous by the powers of the city and because of that they look for you in the Penny Dreadful. Obviously, spoilers ahead! ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Session 1 - Cold Front Prologue They have been contacted by Miss Natalie, their former master. She wants to expand his business to Ridley due to the high rivalry in Malifaux so she send the fated in order to act like a sort of spearhead. Although Natalie has already travel to the North several times he has never stablished a permanent residence there because of the cold and the less chance to be informed of everything. She has achieve three tickets in the Vigilance, a new luxury train that will make his first trip to Ridley, once they get there they will have new instructions. Despite that, the Fated will travel in the common passengers cars and not the wealthy cars (mostly reserved for aristocrats and businessman). A light dusting of snow settled over the train station as the gathered crowd awaits the arrival of a new luxury train making its first trip to the northern boomtown of Ridley. The interest of the crowd spikes as the tell-tale plume of smoke announces the arrival of an impressive metal colossus with the name "Vigilance" emblazoned on its side in bright red. After the train hisses to a halt, an almost comically short man exits the front dining car, one hand in his tweed jacket pocket, the other holding a pocket watch that has been polished to a shine. The man is flanked by two much larger men, obviously bodyguards of some sort. He holds up his free hand to silence the crowd and speaks. “I'd like to thank y'all for coming to the first of what will undoubtedly be many trips of the Beecham Luxury Travel Liners. I, Harold R. Beecham, will be personally joining you on this inaugural run to ensure that your travel experience lives up to the quality of the Beecham name!” As the crowd around the fated responds with some polite applause, a cold gust of wind blows through the station, forcing people to pull their coats just a little tighter around them. Scene 1: All Aboard The group spend a few minutes watching other passengers. Alexei spend a bit more, looking for rich people and he known he has made a great succes when he saw the luxurious carriage in wich travel Clarisse Devonshire, a gorgeous blond woman. He tried to help the servants with the suitcases but they refuse, one of them said that “Miss Devonshire prolly would’ve packed the washroom sink if Master Devonshire would have let ‘er,” The group see also a man receiving and wrapped object from what might be a family, and a couple of workers were speaking and resting in a bank, the man notoriously drunk. Once in the train, our loved Forgotten infiltrate hisself in the caboose, succeding in a few Stealth Challenges. Once there he tried to open and stole the content of the passengers luggage but he only discovered clothes and a gramophone...to heavy to carry with. At the passangers train Mike and Antol watch how a thin man approached Mr. Beecham and points a book, urging him to get in the train right now. Mr. Beecham was really enthusiastic about his greate event and he just makes a few gesture with his hands like "ok...ok". Scene 2: Cold as Ice After Alexei back the guy that received the presend was going to the caboose when Alexei stopped him and have a rough conversation....our russian is not a charming guy and talking with a strange will not get things better. Antol went to the Pollux dinning car, where he drank a whiskey and Mike encountered Mr. Beecham and chat until the thin man interrups the conversation and told Mr. Beecham a terrible new, a passenger has been murdered. Mr. Beecham motions the Fated to step into the caboose, where they find a decesead man covered by a thin sheet of ice, one of the caboose´s windows is shattered and cold air is blowing into the car. “Thank you, Arlan, that should be enough for now.” Once the bookkeeper has left, Mr. Beecham’s composure – what was left it – starts to crack. “Thank you all for coming,” he says, shaking your hands. “As you can see, I think it’s safe to say that this poor man did not die from natural causes.” Mr. Beecham glances down at the body, pales a bit, then looks back to you. “Needless to say, this matter will have to be kept quiet, but I need to know who – or what – could have done this. Please, you’re the only people on this train that can help save the good name of Beecham Luxury Travel Liners! You will be compensated for your time and effort, of course.” At this moment the Fated have an Ongoing Challenge involving Doctor, Notice and/or Sorcery but they did terribly wrong and spend to much time looking for clues. The finally get the idea that Miss Devonshire was involed because of a blur of lipstic in the decesead face....matching with the one that Miss Devonshire has and that she might be some sort of Arcanist since they were proofs of a magical ritual. Scene 3: Murder on the Rails An ear-piercing howl cuts through the constant clatter of the train’s wheels, and the caboose shuddered as the train rocked back and forth on its rails. “Alright, nothing to worry about,” Mr. Beecham said, his smile looking more and more forced by the moment. “It just seems that a murderous someone or something who can freeze people has been let loose on the train, and the engineer has inexplicably decided to pick up speed when we’re just approaching the most treacherous part of our travels. This is still manageable, still manageable…” Mr. Beecham advice them to go to see what happened with the engineer and also to look for the assasin. The team then divided into three groups...epic mistake. -Alexei went to the Engine and Fuel Car where he confronted an Ice Spirit thas has almost killed the engineer (the poor guy only has a shovel) and frozed the controls. He save the drivers live succeding in two painful attacks against the creature...a red joker appear here. The thing run away. -Mike started a conversation with Appleton, but before he go further in his assuption Alexei get back and carry the american to the caboose, where they told Mr. Beecham about the problem and that some sort of ice spirit was the assasin (the now nothinga about magical things, only that is a Spirit thanks to Mike). -Antol encountered Arlan and ask him what´s going on, and if he has a list of the train passengers....and there was when the things go crazy. Arlan started to laugh “The Cailleach has had plenty of time to reach full strength… now Beecham will pay for how he treated me!”. In that exactly moment he hold the arm of Antol and with the other hand punch the guy with a blast spell...pretty WTF moment for the Augmented. Suddenly, a horrific screeching sound as something peeled back the top of the train car like the lid of a sardine can. Icy wind and snow blasted down into the car, forcing Alexei and Mike to shield their eyes, making out the form of a hulking snow-demon floating in the cold wind overhead. It grins down at Mr. Beecham and reaches toward him with long, grasping claws… So two combats at the same time, pretty exciting! -The Cailleach vs Mike and Alexei. When...having the creature pretty wounded thanks to the previous combat Mike managed to kill it with his martial arts skills...although it was a hard fight aniway and when the beast vanished in left the floor covered by ice the Medium had only 1 wound left (and thanks to a Sheisin summoning who brings her Df up +2). Alexei was intact by the other hand... that player is a really lucky one since he has played another One-Shot with another character and he didn´t be harmed at all. So, once the beast was over, Alexei stayed with Mr. Beecham for protection (they didn´t know if some enemy was going to come back) and Mike rushes to the fight that was having part in the passengers car... -Well...is pretty difficult to fight when you are surrounded by people screaming, so is probably better if you don´t get in a fight in a train. Antol ended pretty badly, at negative wounds and with three critical effects, thanks to the help that Mike offered in the last turns saying "GO OUT PLEASE" to the passengers he finally defeat Arlan, knocking him inconscious. Epilogue They saved the day and arrive Ridley as heroes. Mr. Beecham will have a few financial problems but this is part of another story...or at least info por the next sessions. No fated resolve a Destiny Step and they all decided to save their 1 Experience Point. They all gain a skill up to rating 1 and they and advance a step in ther pursuits: Antol (Rank 1 Augmented): He raised his observing skills, Notice 1. Being almost dead by the Spirit he has new tools now, he gains the talent Specialized Tools, Path of Sinew. He gains a trigger on his Close Combat attacks: Venipuncture: After damaging a Living target, heal 1 damage. Alexei (Rank 1 Forgotten): Having investigated the murder scene, he gains Sorcery 1. That guy is a faceless man, a shadow that stalks you, he gains Face in the Crowd. Ranged Combat attacks made against this character suffer a while he is within 3 yards of one or more other characters (friends or foe). Mike (Rank 1 Medium): The american run a lot in order to save his buddy, he gains Athletics 1. Mark of Jigoku. He might be not really charmer, but know how to put a end to a enemy, he gains a Tenacity+Necromancy spell with AP 1, Resist Wp and Range 8 yards. It has the effect that the target gains the Condition Adversary: Spirits gain to Attacks targeting this character, until the star of this character´s next turn. Duration: less than 3 hours. 5. Hi! I´m starting a new TTB campaign in my city I want to record a few things about it. I will update it as much as I will can. Although a few players for it have already played TTB some are news, and that campaign is made with the idea of presenting the chance to newcomers to join! Sometimes we will success in having all the players gathering together but sometimes not so is nice to have a bigger pool of players. I´ll use several One-Shots from Wyrd and I will writte my thoughs about they here, and I gonna probably play a Penny Dreadful too. The Fated are in the same boat for just a single thing, they are loyal to the same person, Miss Natalie, a american lady who wants to create his own emporium through the Breach. She has recently come to Malifaux, so despite of having a nice economy and a few guys who work for her she hasn´t the strength or influences of others powers in the city, but she is ambicious as hell and smart enough to gain a few favors and contacts. For the moment she will have to work for bigger bidders but she will be growing her power step by step, waitting for the moment to defeat her enemies.... and as a rich woman she has many of them. __ Antol Brakmoh (Augmented) An hungarian adventurer, he came to Malifaux in order to look for legendary monsters to kill and wanting to get the approvement of the crowd as a hero but shit happens and just a few later he purchased a house in the Slums a undead raid destoy the place the zone, killing his wife and his daughter. Wanting to revenge his family he hear about a powerful necromancer having his lair in the Norther Hills, so he traveled to there... only to find hisself lost in the icy mountaings and attacked by a group of hoarcats who nearly kill him. He has the luck enough to be watched by one of Miss Natalie expeditions and once repaired his body with a mechanical heart and a pneumatic arm be abble to fight again against the monsters that prey Malifaux. He has an honour debt to Ms Ntalie and he knows that with the resources of the lady maybe he will know more about the murderer of his family. Just a common man in appearance if you don´t count the mechanical arm and heart... because there are just details! Wears a big trenchcoat. Alexei Ivanov (Forgotten) A russian assassin, nobody knows a lot of him. A misterous wanderer with a dark and a hidden past. He is very abble to stalk in the shadows, waitting the perfect moment to attack, or to hide among the people. A dexterous man who murders with an exotic fighting claw but is also able to unlock heavy doors, steal and shoot you in the rear... and then convince you that all is fine. He is bald and has several scars in his face. Wears hoodie clothes with big sleeves in order to hide his weapon. Mike Trenton (Medium) Probably the closest person that Miss Natalie has at her duty, being also and american. Although not really powerful yet, he is able to detect spirits and summon guardians to protect hisself. He has long hair grey hair and beard. He wears in a formal way, with suit, vest and a hat. Dr. Narayan (Chemist) One of the medical consultants of Miss Natalie. He was born in India, where he leart about alchemistry and poisons.
  6. In fact Medium gains a Talent at Rank 0 that allows they to summon a Sheisin... so Its gonna be pretty soon when the Fated can do it. Although I will talk to he about the problems of Magic and Guild politics. The point is that Guild tens to see "Thalarians" with better eyes than other magic users...so they are probable with less chances to die or becoming a Witchling Stalker. I know that resser things are a red line for Guild, but a Medium can act as and advisor in ethereal topics and I think that as long as the Fated don´t summon just in front of them they will be "ok" with that exotic guy who can talk with spirits. You are right. Being a registred mage is a bad thing...but even better lose the head! Maybe they put a Control Collar maybe not. (*)Oh yeah, and know is when I realize that the son of the previous Governor die assassinated by accident by the Guild Guard due to a asian scort that has developed some Medium skills....yeah.
  7. With the Fated Almanac you can already run a game as Fatemaster thanks to Penny Dreadfuls, One-Shots and so, so If you have Rottenburg you won´t need anything more. On the other hand, Fatemaster Almanac is a nice tool to have if you want to run a campaign, because it adds a lot of fluff and ideas and a great bestiary. Even more, in his pages you will see the Marionettes and Wicked Dolls stats. I think that a Master as the main antagonist of an adventure is nice. The Fated doesn´t need to fight against it until the end of the adventure although you can put some combats with him in the middle. A copycat group of puppeters...who enjoy on the depraved acts of kidnapping kids and turning them into his master...to obtain new puppets! I head about a few kids dissapering in the Northern Hills, and the Slums of Malifaux is a nice place to look for problems....and who cares about the people on the Slums? The Guild deffinetly no.
  8. Before I asked this question I said always "Yes" to the question about if the Fated can cheat initative, and well in one adventure a really combat focused guy with a melee weapon with a great Severe Damage just always go like "Ok, so I cheat Initiative to go before the enemies, and they I attack and crush his head with that awesome Severe" Whoaaah ...There are no more enemies now!
  9. Hi! One of the players Im gonna to fatemaster wants to be a Medium (well...not him, his character!). At the fluff description it says that the Guild doesn´t know really well how to approach this guys. The thing is... what will happen when He summons a Sheishin and people....and Guild members see that? If it was a classic magical pursuit I´ll say that as long as he picks Thalarian Doctrine (or his variant from Into The Steam) and is registered in a Guild File as a "Magic User" there will be no problem if he doesn´t cause any damage. The problem is that the character doesn´t start with a Magic Theory. Any advice?
  10. Hi! Fighting Claw is a Melee Weapons that appears in Into The Steam. It has the "Fistload" special rule, giving a to Pugilism and Martial Arts Damage Flips. Flick Of The Wrist is a Talent from Fated Almanac that states that when you are making a Close Combat attack with a weapon held in one hand, the character can substitute Grace for Might when calculating his Acting value. So can I combine both, and use Pugilism+Grace when I am attacking with the Flighting Claw and have that Talent? A Fated character that is involved in a game Im gonna Fatemaster wants that weapon and had already picked the talent...and then whe came with the brilliant idea. If would say a "yes, you can" but I wont to know how the rules are. I know that if I fight with bare hands I must use Pugilism+Might...so I hope that nobody steals that nice glove from the character!

    [Spain] TTB game

Hi! We are gonna play Through The Breach at Wednesday 22 in Ateneo store, in Alicante (Spain). From 17.30 to 21.00 you can join us! If you want more info just send me a pm.
  12. Hi! This might be a really dumb question but I have to ask it. Can players cheat Initative? As I see it there are two possible answers: -Yes. It´s a Challenge Duel using Speed+Notice so if you have Notice skill you can do it (because having the skill is a requeriment for cheating). -No. p.194 states that "A character may only Cheat Fate once per Action". I know that you can do it just once, but at is written "Action"...well, the Initative flip is not action at all so Fated can´t Cheat on that Challenge.
  13. Leveticus is the one who can defeat the Tyrants, is a one-man apocalypse. Is our chance to the humanity...althought he will save us no matter how. Is good, but not in the classic terms of it.
