  1. New videos up. Will try to do Kirai vs Colette tonight. My brain my explode, but it'll be so worth it!
  2. Lots of cheap models are better than a few big ones. So things like Necropunks, Night Terrors, Belles, and Punk Zombies are pretty solid against Colette. Things like the Dead Rider and Bete Noir are too easily neutralized via spells. That said, lots of cheap models grouped up are weak vs the Duet (Orchestral Crescendo is an AOE), so be careful with it. Throwing tons of Canine Remains at Performers is actually scary for Colette. And as difficult as it is to kill off Mannequins, do so. They are super important.
  3. Something to remember with regards to Blinding Flash is that it requires a Tome card, which there are only so many of. If they cheat, that's one less card for using Soulstone Augury. If they don't, they may be banking on a Soulstone, and as long as you aren't leaving yourself exposed to something nasty, that's a win/win.
  4. At 6 points a Ronin helps alleviate some of the problem that Ressers have in not having models with action modifiers, and the Ronin gives you a very solid extra attack in addition to good mobility.
  5. I try to do different textures on bases(going from grass to brick etc) by having a few key models that share all elements. Like my master would have part brick and part grass. But yeah my bases tend to be simple. My ressers are all on bricks I carved out of wood putty. Effective and cheap!
  6. I'd recommend Cash n Guns http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/19237/cash-n-guns Very fun, very not serious, and you get to point foam guns at each other!
  7. Wyrd is like the sheriff that busts into that ranch full of cultists to bring them back to civilized society. Wyrd saved me from the GW cult. Thank you, Wyrd!
  8. You could do 2 damage to the CR, then cast Wracked With Pain when the Dog is within 12 inches of Pandora. Cheat to tie, then Pandora's ability kills him
  9. 1) Yes, they do. If you decide to go the extra mile, you should laminate them as it makes tracking status effects and wounds very simple . 2) Yeah, Wyrd has had problems keeping stores adequately stocked due to high demand, low supply. No worries on that front. I wouldn't worry too much about everyone playing the same master, go with what you like. 3) And the above answer applies here. As for what you're starting with, that's exactly what I started with. Your next buys will probably be Lelu and Lilitu (and your wife will probably want Snowstorm/Silent One), and perhaps Nekima if you're feeling cheeky (not a super powerful model, but a fun one). Also a Desperate Mercenary and a Black Blood Shaman will enable what's referred to as a "Grow" list (see the Pull My Finger wiki for more info). Good luck and enjoy!
  10. I think I was listening to Garagehammer when they had someone on who was a sculptor. Basically, use whatever will create interesting textures and that is capable of removing the medium from the piece. He said that there are tons of kits you can buy that have sculpting tools, but just normal tools plus things you find laying around will work as well, such as a random knife.
  11. Kirai is also a much higher potential model count master (she usually starts the game with anywhere from 8-12 minions on the table at the average 35 soulstone level, and summons more as things die). For just getting into the game, the two Viks, Ronin, and Von Schill will do you for up to 30 SS, then for beyond that, or having more options, try out a Student of Conflict and/or Librarian. This keeps your initial investment low just in case you don't enjoy the game (which doesn't matter because we're all sure you will .
  12. Wait, wait. I got this. It clearly means your players are horrible and should melt down their figs to cast into Space Marines or something!
  13. It's not one of the pictures you focused on, but I like what you did with the base on your Mechanical Rider that I could see off to the right
  14. With regards to the competitive communities, the NoVA guys are the ones I've heard the most from and are for me the most easily identifiable. I don't profess to speak for the rest of the Joe Shmoe's out there, that's just what I've observed. As for events, I don't see a consistent number of larger events. We're beginning to see an emergence of a truly competitive atmosphere in the states, and events like the Masters of Adepticon or last year's NOVA Open are where the smaller communities will start coming together and really start challenging each other. America's geography straight just means the process takes a bit longer for us. We're only able to have a couple of events like that each year because it's just not feasible for a large number of players to travel 5-10+ hours more than three or four times a year to a benchmark event (which is what I could consider the two aforementioned events, on par with something like the UK GT). So what I meant to say is we don't have a strong competitive environment yet, but it's developing quickly. You only get so good playing against your friends, it's when you start interacting with people outside your normal playgroup that skill really starts to grow beyond a certain plateau. At least that's been my experience in this and in other games that I have attempted to improve in.
  15. It's a small nitpick, but Kaeris that far up the list without a Student of Conflict seems meh. EDIT: Also, the only group I've seen identify themselves as competitive Malifaux players are the northern Virginia group. Competitive Malifaux just hasn't really taken off in the US.
  16. Very enjoyable read, glad to hear your league is doing well. It's something I've wanted to run down here, but Binghamton is where leagues go to die.
  17. When I started Malifaux, I had 2-3 Masters among different factions (Som'er, Lilith, Seamus) I've now really started consolidating my crews to Outcasts and Ressers because I know a) I would have expanded more and probably picked up at least 3 if not all four masters from each faction and that's not healthy and that's a lot to carry, and that's why I prefer at most fixed faction. Fixed master is OK (with a "sideboard"), however, I detest fixed list.
  18. I have only played against Nico, so no advice from here, and only a game or two with Kirai (she seems amazing in all categories, though). That said, I have found both McMourning and Seamus to be very fun masters to play. Seamus is a bit like a puzzle, he's a jack of all trades and the trick to him is figuring out when is best to use what. He's obviously very powerful against living crews with his morale duels and debuffs, but he can effectively paralyze close combat masters and minions with Undead Psychosis (multiples if they're close together), Slit Jugular is a very powerful ability if used at the right times, and being able to recycle Belles is very nice, though it's not something you'll do every turn. McMourning is very fragile, but once you get used to him, he can survive an activation, possibly two of mid range minions and masters through soulstones and cheating high, then heal himself up while killing something. His body part mechanic makes his summoning more powerful, and his scapel magic trigger allows him to put out lots of damage and get more mileage out of his spells (all of which are quite good, if a tad situational). Scalpel Slinging is an awesome ability which can function as a "Get Out of Jail Free". Both masters have a ton of character and are fun to paint to boot!
  19. Ironically, a good chunk of our Malifaux community works 3rd shift, but with enough notice it shouldn't be an issue hopefully
  20. Got some interest down here in Bing, let's see if I can get people to commit this time
  21. I don't get the complaints about Deliver a Message. Chompy, Colette, and Kirai can do it just as well(read: better), and the first two aren't dependent on cards to do so.
  22. All the ones I have played have had very easy single requirements (Som'er, Seamus, and Zoraida) and I usually just spammed them out in the first or second turn so it never really interfered with how I played the game. Of those three I think I would probably connect it in most every game (possibly not with Zoraida). The Avatars change the playstyle of the master, but that's not often a problem for accomplishing schemes and strategies.
  23. The tops of yogurt cups are (at my grocery) 3" in diameter, so perfect!
