  1. oh crap yeh sorry your right it is double suited i just assumed when you said that you meant double mask tbh i dont really get why the primordial has that tome... is there any neverborn master that actually needs them??
  2. if your looking at this from an entirely a perspective of 'best models to start with' i personally think malifaux is better learnt using book one stuff, book 2 just changed the game so much and i think considering how different malifaux is to many other war games the transistion is easier if when learning just book one stuff is used. Personally i wouldnt really reccomend Zoraida myself, i just find her overall a bit underwhelming. i disagree with taking Lilith out however. i think her crew is by far the easiest to learn for Neverborn and even if you then go on to do other crews shes still a valuable asset. and shes still pretty competitive too. I often run my Collodi crew with Lilith leading it - I find a well timed transposition wins so many strats very easily and when you have a df 8 greatsword wielding master on the playing field you can make it a damn sight harder for people to take out your marionettes. plus she works beautifully well as an anvil. the models i would personally reccomend for neverborn are (inc. book 2): Lilith Collodi (and marionettes obvs) Lilitu Lelu (although begrudgingly, i actually think hes pretty crap and only think he should be taken if you take lilitu.... even then though she can heal herself 2 of the 3 wounds she takes soooo....) primordial magic terror tots young neph Mysterious effigy Stitched together Id personally reccomend a couple of the other effigies as well, my 2 favourites are the mysterious and brutal but i think the arcane is pretty good to (arcane resevoir is nice) and wicked dolls are pretty damn good to if you can get them to work right ---------- Post added at 12:30 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:30 PM ---------- oh and teddy to. but thats just cos i like the model http://themostexcellentandawesomeforumever-wyrd.com/community/uploads/emoticons/default_smile.png' alt=':)'> ---------- Post added at 12:33 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:30 PM ---------- also just to point out, primordial magics Ca isnt double suited. I really wish it was though but thatd be a bit too good...
  3. yeh blasts are a bugger if your using collodi... the main ways i avoided it tbh was making sure i spread out my crew as far as possible while making sure at least a bit of every one of my models bases are within 4" of collodi. the other thing is cardeful model placement. for example make it so marionettes and high df dolls are on display as targets rather than low df/ non hard to wound models. If your opponent is on a negative damage flip then those blasts arent coming easy. the other obvious thing is stitched and use there creepy fog to block LoS puts a stop to most peoples shooting. And as awesome as all the effigies are unfortunately i find that the carrion effigy is just a bit too unuseable generaly compared to the others. My highest reccomendations go to the mysterious effigy though, hes a game winner in his own right, not an auto include but very very close to being one
  4. rafkin synergises waaaaay better with nicodem than mcmourning (especially avatar nico)
  5. just a thought do lilith and collodi work well together?? im thinking of an effigy list plus lilith and totem just to see how itd work but i dunno what strategies itd work for or if itd be a usable list, also wanted to hear peoples reccomendations on what effigys they think wud be best or what i could take out/ put in to make the list run smoother. cheers for any suggestions xD Lilith Totem (not sure which, does arcane resevoir stack cos if so then i think id take primordial but if not then the cherub) Collodi with his 8 marionettes and now the main part which is which effigy's, i think i can afford 3 with a cache of 7. i quite like the Hodgepodge, the arcane and the mysterious but i thought id here other peoples opinions. cheers I guess liliths place is to transpose $$$$$$$$ and generally protect the (in my opinion) squishy collodi bomb. the effigys are just cool imo
  6. the awkward moment when you realise your friends logged in insted of you and you post a reply... Yeh the above is actually by me, Ilikepizza just im on my mates comp and forgot to log him out
  7. hey guys, ive only started getting back into malifaux over the last two months but ive picked the game back up pretty damn well. Used to run a Lilith Nekima grow list but ive decided i want a new crew to play competitively. My war gaming club is a very competitive one so the games have a tendency to be very intense. But yeh i have a game against a collette crew soon, now my main worries with my list is that he'll do some stupid swapping about and paralyse key models i have that i need to not be paralysed so i was just wondering whats the best way to deal with a Colette crew and all the crazy moving about using nicodem? I tend to use avatar form Nico, Rafkin, some dogs, bete noire and a couple of mercs in my list but i dunno how well this build will fair against Cassandra and Coryphee... i hate those guys
  8. Take Rafkin over mortimer, his ability to create mindless zombies is amazing. by storing up Body part counters for 3 turns, turn 4 i wacked out 8 mindless Zombies just from Rafkin himself I also personally rate Avatar Nicodem, takes 3-4 turns to get him out realistically but once he is out all your movement problems will be solved, plus he still keeps Decay and Rigor Mortis (and as already said that is by far, in my opinion his best spell NEVER FORGET HE HAS IT! using Nicodem and Bete Noire together you should be able to keep any nasty threats paralysed). honestly, i'd always reccomend bete noire, simply because shes amazing full stop. she works well offensively but also on the defence if your opponents crew is closing in on Nico. Grave spirit is nice, wouldnt personally take it as id be going avatar nio most the time, not sure bout vultures, they dont look that great to me tbh but ive never tried em so cant possibly say. And belles are good but id personally summon them
  9. wait....how do u bury hoffman??? havent got my book to hand but i just wanted to know how
  10. well, a peacekeeper is almost always a good addition to any guild crew imo, it works well as bait that takes an awful lot of commitment to take down (and when its right up in ur opponents face, they havent got the choice to not take it down) an does some awsome damage output. Be warned tho, nekima has some very nasty shenanigans that may indeed lean toward the "opponent being in disgust" sort of thing. She's a little OP as are alot of things in the new neverborn (these are the overall conclusions of the people at our local club-but were cool with OP as were generally more the tournament playing people ) however, if ur playing against alot of neverborn (as suggested) that by in large goes out the window, she pretty much settles on being pretty balanced. Id honestly stick with her as the model shuld be amazing But if ur going painting then id honestly go for rasputina over sonnia, just sonnia only really has the witchlings and samael, whereas rasputina has golems, gamins, silent ones, and hopefully soon to be released snow storm. Also, if u do go raspy, id strongly suggest a three headed cerberus thing (cant remember its name) just paint it as a snow leopard the thing works wonders for a friend i know who uses raspy.
  11. im sorry, but really? Obviously there is some 'cheesecake' in malifaux, but alot of it fits for good background and quite frankly, alot of demonic ideals throughout history have been of succubus's (demons of seduction) so of course some of the models will be a bit promiscuous, which certainly explains away why lilith and lilitu are the way they are. Besides, compared to some Miniature companies wyrd is VERY moderate, have you seen some of the things being sold by freebooters? or the old games workshop daemonettes? Besides which, without the freedom to make such Risque models, we wouldnt have such fantastic miniatures, im not personally a big fan of taelor, but Lady Justice and Lilith are some of the best female models ive seen and an awful lot of female characters, such as sonnia, are portrayed as fully dressed. quite frankly i think this thread is ridiculous, I can only honestly speak for myself, but im sure that most men who come onto this forum do not open their copy of the malifaux rulebook to oggle at the pictures and fantasize. If your partner is of the opinion that this game is highly sexist and wont play it due to that, she's missed the point entirely - its a game, its not to be taken seriously. Wyrd are not making some overt sexist statement, they're simply producing amazing models off of generation old fantasy hero like stereotypes so that a wargame can be played between two people. If u want to get her to play the game then proxy models and use the rules if its really that much of an issue.
  12. Lol, couldn't agree more I satrted off on 40k because I liked the grim dark future idea, but GW huge price increase is what actually led me to this wargame...and honestly, I just think its a better game full stop. @thael-how does becoming a henchman work? I'm not sure if theres some kind of age requirement (I'm only 16) but I guess being oler would make it easier. As it is I think its something I'd look more into during the summer when I have more spare time, with A-Levels and all that stuff, never mind actually playing this game I really, really, really hope you guys at wyrd keep this up, but I'm positively sure that you guys on the other side of the pond have some more amazing ideas. to think, when I saw this game I initially thought it was some rubbish card game, like pokemon...
  13. I adore any games background that is so friggin messed up the guys who made it need to be locked away for several years, but...seriously, how'd u guys managed to get so many warped twisted ideas into 1 game? and make it still work? The dark imagination of you guys is bloody incredible.
  14. ok, thas what i figured but thought I'd just check. I think when my opponent cheats I'll tell him where I'm going to draw my ard from, and if its from the discard, I'll wait for him to resolve the duel totals and me to resolve any triggers (although I'll pick it up before he does triggers, you never know, I might need it to save a rat from slit jugular, oh wait, if someone slit jugulars a rat another pops up )
