  1. This. Steward is great, but doesn't actually do anything your Keyword can't do themselves. I can accept the Pale Rider (being Undead) is a solid choice for Lady J, but its a model that doesn't synergise particularly well with Family (other than just being good by itself). Whereas learning how to play with A Por El and Bravado is more important to begin with. Get the Keyword, play the games, and accept that there are no shortcuts with Malifaux.
  2. I feel like this could apply to far too many Guild models.
  3. Frontiersman have the awkward problem of actually being fairly decent, but for one stone more you can get a Pathfinder. I think it was a missed opportunity not giving Basse 2 an incidental summon of Frontiersman for that reason - the model itself is fine, arguably good for a 5ss model. There's nothing about that model I see as needing to change. What's needed is a reason to take it out of the options available and not making Basse 2 support that was a shame.
  4. Which should be easy-ish to do with Pyre Markers... tempted to try it now!
  5. I'm not sure there's anything that needs nerfing in Guild. Sure, there's a couple of powerful models, but then you look at other factions and see what is apparently acceptable and think "Hang, on, maybe they aren't that powerful after all, just good." There's nothing I look at and think "the opponent can't deal with that". That said, there are a few things that could do with a little touch-up, and its the usual suspects that have needed it since the start of M3E: Witchling Stalkers and Thalarian Quellers for Sonnia (maybe just a SS drop, rather than a change to their actual text), Death Marshal Recruiters need something to make them better in Keyword (even though I think the real problem isn't the DMR itself, but the lack of Living targets in Keyword), Newsies, etc.
  6. I think my only goal will be to try one of the Masters I haven't used yet. I'd really like it to be Lucius or Nellie, but my brain won't be able to cope with them so it'll almost defijnitely be Perdita or Lady J instead! Both of their Titles look amaing though, so I'm sure I'll be happy with them both!
  7. Charge Reichart in, dropping a Dust Cloud, then Eva gets to shoot the engaged model with a (Ungentlemanly Affairs coming into its own with the Friendly Fire and Concealing)), triggering Coordinated attack for an extra attack from Reicharts claws... I can definitely see the potential.
  8. I've only had one game with new Hoffman and Kaeris destroyed me. It was Wedge Deployment and bad scenery setup (for me, anyway!) so I ended up bunched and subject to Pyre Marker shenanigans that just ruined me. I really enjoyed the Metallurgist though, but would have liked a melee attack. And Hoffman himself was nicely self-sufficient, able to generate a new Pylon every turn (and scheme marker). All my points were scored by Hoff's nonsense. Looking forward to game 2 though! Just hopefully with less fire!
  9. I was so happy at this. Then he faced a Sonnia crew that took a random Agent 46 who Mimicked his attack and stabbed him to death. I was sad. Still my favourite part of the errata though!
  10. You can find Thirty Three and the new Lady J Title (along with a few other Guild models), among others) at this link: https://www.wyrd-games.net/upcoming-content-reveals
  11. I haven't had chance to play with any of them yet (I haven't had a game since before Hoff was spoiled 😪) but my impressions are such that I'd agree with all of those things, except Nellie2. I've always thought she was potentially mental! But yeah, on the whole, the increased flexibility is definitely going to be a massive boost to Guild. I'm looking forward to it!
  12. It's funny, because that is what feels like a stretch to me (and is probably the use of the word 'is'). If it was "After a model within 8 was pushed", there would be no discussion. Was the model Pushed? Yes. Is it within 8? Yes. But because it uses active language, the Ability reads (to me) as saying "Is the model within 8" and being Pushed?" which conflicts with the "After" timing. A model is not being Pushed after it has been Pushed. It is only being Pushed if it is being Pushed. Which is far too many Pushed for one paragraph.
  13. I used Target for simplicity. A model within 8" of Sonnia has to be Pushed. Not a model outside of 8" Pushed to within 8" of her. Otherwise it would be after a model ends a Push within 8" of Sonnia (See Mechanical Assistant on Mannequin, Pounce on First Mate, etc.)
  14. <Timing><Target><Effect> <Timing> = after something happens <Target> = A model within 8" is Pushed outside of its activation (left to right - model within 8" comes before the Push) <Effect> = Can do an attack The timing of the ability doesn't change the fact that the model has to be within 8" when Pushed. If it was within 8" when Pushed, it gets the attack. If not, it doesn't.
  15. It's "When a model within 8" is Pushed..." not "When a model is Pushed within 8"..." The model has to be within 8" to begin with.
  16. For me, I really like Lucius, Hoffman, Perdita, and Lady J. I'm lukewarm on Sonnia, Nellie, and Dashel. I don't particularly like Basse. I love that Perdita now summons Pistoleros with a Grow mechanic. It means that you can take the named Family members like you were probably doing anyway, but still get use out of the Minions that were more difficult to include before. The fact that you can combo that with a Death Marshal Recruiter for infinite Replace nonsense just appeals to my soul. I think what Lady J loses in outright murder potential, she makes up for in enabling the Pine box nonsense (and I do like shenanigans). Lucius is now the sneaky murderer we all knew him to be, and looks a lot more straightforward than the enabler he used to be, which is great for my tiny brain. And Hoffman is just thematically very cool now. Robo-suits are the best. Sonnia, Nellie and Dashel will all play very differently from their original forms. Nellie looks like she might be thoroughly unpleasant to face though, and Sonnia could have really used a new Enforcer or Witchling Minion to tie together the weaker elements of her Keyword (Seriously Wyrd, why is Sonnia the only new Title without a new Keyword model?). Dashel just looks like he'll chomp through the enemy and allowing Executioners to use Soulstones is hilarious, but other than that, he doesn't really do anything that gets me excited. And Basse... He just isn't different enough. Even his pose is very similar. The TN-increasing aura is nice, so he'll be a solid pick against Summoners, but other than that, he doesn't really make any of the weaker models in his Keyword (Crockett, Frontiersman, Raptors) see more use, doesn't do any more damage (he does have a slightly longer range though) unless you're applying the conditions first, so you're trading a potential three Shotgun attacks to the face for two, slightly-boosted, attacks instead. He just feels lackluster to me. His new Enforcer, on the other hand, is superb.
  17. I read it as only B). When a friendly Witch Hunter model within 8" (this is the point the ability works out who it affects) is Pushed outside its own Activation, if it ended the move engaging an enemy model, it may take a melee action targeting that model. The only point in that ability that looks at range is at the start (and we resolve Malifaux Abilities from left to right). So, if a model is within 8" of Sonnia at the time it gets Pushed, it can attack someone it is engaging at the end of that push, but where the model actually ends up doesn't matter.
  18. Yep. As a Basse player, I love them. Perfect for murdering a Guild Steward with too! Yes, that's right. A bonus to the flip and any resulting damage flips.
  19. Yeah, those Grim models: One Henchman, One Enforcer, and Two Minions feels exactly right for a starter box setup.
  20. Yep. Sandeep can now benefit from every Mantra, before you even touch on the nonsense on his card. I'll miss the summoning though.
  21. I'm just not feeling this Basse at all. he has some definite plusses: Dust Clouds not going away is great, the Frontier ignores Concealing is really good (but too short range), and the increased TN within 10" is super useful (but then his abilities are mostly longer range than the original, so will he always be within 10? It does ruin Summoners though, so I love that part). Beyond that, he just feels a bit flat to me. Part of that is definitely because I wanted him Beast focused sharing a Pig Enforcer/Minion with Ulix, but the other part is he just doesn't feel different enough, in either rules or pose. Pearl, on the other hand, is superb.
  22. Agreed. It is a glaring hole in the Malifaux Burns releases. But... They previewed Hexbows for The Other Side. Maybe they're the new model for Witch Hunter? just tying Sonnia's releases to TOS, rather than the book (as they've done with Kirai). I'd have preferred an Enforcer/Henchman though. There are plenty of Witch Hunter Minions. More independent character releases are what the Keyword needs (or a good, cheap Witchling. Or both.)
  23. I really like this Lucius. His free Scheme Marker every turn suddenly makes False Witnesses (or any model with False Claim) much better, and the Condition-based damage reduction allows him to get up close and personal while he's doing his murder. Cavatica supports this by being really effective at handing out Injured and Staggered. And Newcius still has a pseudo-Obey as his bonus action, so you can still trigger all teh out-of-activation card draw nonsense that his original version used to do. Overall, I think he's a much easier Lucius for a newer player to pick up, still very strong, but doesn't automatically replace the original. Which is exactly what was needed. The reason I've put off trying out Lucius is because of the potential complexity. I don't have that concern with the new Title. Looking forward to it, in fact!
  24. I like Newcius. A lot. Dropping a free Scheme Marker within 12" every turn is amazing, even before you factor in the boost to friendly models. Then there's the whole sneaky movement, handing out conditions, and general murderousness of him and he's the shifty assassin I've always wanted him to be. Cavatica is nice too. Handing out Injured and Staggered, and then removing Cover/Concealment and letting your guys take attacks - he's amazing even before you get to the front of his card. They both look like they'll play very well with Agent 46 too.
