  1. This is what I don't understand. She can be hired with one of her limited and substitute it for a Gamin one, in my opinion. Why she shouldn't? @WWHSD well.. I think the switch-upgrade mechanic is good on the first turn for a non upgraded Bonasuva. From then she becomes a tanky schemer. In my opinion it's worth it.
  2. Why? If my book and my Kanda ran card are correct, she has 2 (0). One let her discard an upgrade to attach one of her limited and one let her discard an upgrade to pass a gamin's upgrade to her. So, in the first turn you can summon bonasuva from her, activate her and take the gamin's upgrade from him. On the second turn you remove the gamin's one to attach a Limited one. This way you can have on the table 3 gamins + bonasuva if you want. Did I miss something?
  3. To be honest, I think Kandara is great with sandeep. You can summon bonasuva turn 1 before she activates and have him like a normal model all the game. And if he dies, you can resummon him back like you normally would. She takes the gamin upgrade only on turn 1 and then acts as a mobile tanky model.
  4. Well.. Basically because I like them, I suppose. Maybe not having played a single gg 2018 helps too xD As a semi-serious argument I could say that d. Mercs give the crew a solid 11 activations, which seem very solid for an alpha strike list
  5. Well.. I was tinkering about quite the same crew on paper these days.. But with 3 desperate mercs (now that are at 3ss) instead of the stalker
  6. Well.. Even Vision Sandeep should be great at Ply. Constant yammering and (0) interactions should do fine.
  7. Aye, Captain's pushes are good with Strike markers. As is Cojo, I think.
  8. You forgot Hoarcats. At 4ss they seem quite good, actually. The captain will see a lot more play in my games. God, how I always loved his model and how useless he were. Cojo seems really good in basically every schemey pool and good in Wagons (as a cheap 50mm base to move it). Johan maybe will still have a place in Ply and/or Public Execution.
  9. The captain's buff is pretty cool. I always wanted to like him but always felt too much stones.. But now he may has a place in my ironsides' crews, finally. On the other hand Johan at 8 SS feels bad.. Not for the game itself, but.. I feel naked without him. Now, for that price is maybe better take a Shastar Vydia Guard, instead.. (at least with ironsides)
  10. Well.. I think they have different roles. Railworker is a light class beater, slow and tank. Neil is, basically, a tank. His strength is not relying on ignoranble defense (like armor, HtK or triggers) but in having a bunch of wounds (9 wounds for a 7ss is good) and in the automatic heal. And in a Ramos crew he should have plenty of heals available. Railworkers are quite bad when they meet someone who ignores some of their defense (worse when they meet people like Levy or Joss, but well..). Neil doesn't have direct counters. And he's not a construct, which is great sometimes (like when you are face to the wrong end of a relic hammer). Don't know if this will be enough to make him competitive, but I think he will be fun at least. My 2 cents
  11. They have a (0) attack, I suppose he means the melee mage who can do furious casting and his (0) while in cac
  12. @WWHSD yeah, exactly my thought. @KingCrow At first I thought he was very sub-par but the more I think, the more he convinces me about his value.. In Ramos' crews. He seems someway a perfect fit; his main strengths is to not having a real defensive ability: no armour, no htk, just a very good amount of wound for his price and a good syneric heal, plus a ok-ish damage. With well rehearsed and the heal, he and Ramos should be on the table for quite a while, needing too much resources to deal with. I'm tinkering with this idea from some time, now.. And look forward to have him. Let's just hope he'll hit the stores soon.
  13. Started the game with Som'er (bought his box before knowing the rules) but didn't enjoy Gremlins. Once known the basic rules and seen the Factions' models I chose Arcanists because of their steam punk constructs and Mei Feng as my first master. Went "on a budget" and bought Mei's box, Ramos' one (these arachnid constructs.. Damn, so cool!), rail golem and metal gamins. For the first months I played only Mei as I found her more much enjoyable than Ramos. Only thing I regret is the Golem: the sculpt is awful and 35 dollars are way too much (yeah, NOW I know it's one of the first model in plastic.. But at the time I didn't. And the surprise wasn't welcomed).
  14. Oh well, seems very niche and needing too much set up, really. Neil seems cool and solid.. But utilizing Sparks and your whole hand for a ml6 2/4/5? I'm not very sold on this.. I see his ability like a once (twice if you have a crappy hand) per turn - ISH. Seems too card hungry for an intensive use. Only speculative and on paper. I'll try him when the model will be available on the store. Imho
  15. Why should you fall back to draw? It's an "up to 8" push, you could just move in range to draw. On the first turn you could just move a couple of models onwards, swooping onto them and draw cards. You usually spend first turn to move anyway, it's not very limiting or AP intensive. To me Flaming Angel seems quite good, really. Opens to a lot of options. And unresistible burning is cool (much better than Flaming halo to set things on fire, really). Imho
  16. Well.. In the new upgrade Flaming Angel there is not any restriction. You push kaeris with Incineration Swoop through models and these gain Burning 1. The only 0 you use is the one that let you draw cards, obviously. Did I read it wrong? P. S. Happy new year
  17. Well.. probably they would start blame their hand was sooo poorly they could never summon what they wanted. Happened against a local TT player with his new shiny Asami (well i wasn't playing ressers against him, but that didn't matter, right?). Sorry for the OT.
  18. Well.. Didn't mean to propose kaeris as a go to into outcast, nor Hamelin. Hell, I don't even think she could be my "go to" into anything. Was just.. Arguing about EF being not that bad and Hamelin example just came to mind. Sorry Boyz eheh
  19. Right, that's happen when you read new models without re-read old ones. Thanks
  20. Hi there! Just played my first Kaeris game last night. I've won an Alt Kaeris at a tournament lately, and that was wonderul 'cause now with Christmas Raspy I'll have all arcanists masters. But.. speaking of Kaeris, she sounded fun so I had to try her. I made a fixed generalist list with some new toys to try out her and made a game against a neverborn (came.out Bag of props Collodi). Kaeris: her new 2 upgrades, imbued energies 4ss Carlos Vasquez: PP, stunt double Myrandaberus (never played, wanted to try) Johan:IE Arcane effigy Fire gamin Wind gamin Wind gamin Guard the stash, Flank deployment with accusation, dig their graves, search ruins and last stand. Went for claim jump and search the ruins. Opponent chose poorly his schemes (accusation and search ruins). The crew did well, with Carlos tanking Collodi early and healing at end of the turn, johan removed Slow, burning and the damned "i do your activation" condition from carlos, effigy removed slow to the freshly summined Cerberus, making her leap+charge Nekima and kill her last activation Turn 2. What Kaeris did: Deployed her poorly. Turn 1 put burning on 3 friendly models, drawed 3 cards and moved. Turn 2 wasted her activation: oppo playes really far and cagey, she just put some burning+ damage on Mr Graves. Turn 3 she moved, swooped on unactivated collodi, marionette and effigy to give them burning, acceleranted them for 2 dmg and failed her Heat Wave. In this turn she tanked easily Barbaros and Graves, giving lots of burning just standing there. Maybe she's not a powerhorse like our other masters, and her AP doesn't feel Master-like (well.. mine didn't. She walked a lot).. but she's fun to play. I think i'm gonna use her a lot in the future. Ast thing: i'm really tempted by Eternal Flame's rules. For 2ss it seems a really cool little toolbox and shuld fit well with Heat Wave Kaeris, 'cause she could need its heal and stripping burning immunities is situationally good (i'looking at you, hamelin). And 2ss activation. Have a flammable day!
  21. Well.. i still play in gg17 and never read the beta version. I'll see next year what to do and who to use Anyway with Wave5 I found a new interest (and fun) in ramos (see the Burning Ramos topic) using him as a highly mobile burning beater (well.. shooter, really).
  22. I feel the same about Raspy, Colette and Mei (well.. Mei was my first Arcanist Master, so I play her time to time); not about Ramos. I value hight what he does (activation control and Reactivate a beater) and I think he received quite a good new upgrade. I'm still struggling to find the perfect fit for him now, but between Powered by flame and arcane effigy, i rate him one of our best master to counter FFM.
  23. In my opinion Mei has some autoinclude models and some good ones. The autoincludes, outside her box are: -Mechanized Porkchop: walk 6 (her railwalk har range 6) and free scrap after moving. And it gives [+]s to friendly models who start a charge near it. Reeallly worth it. -Arcane effigy: tanky construct, removes condition and gives Mei the ability to set afire enemies. Mei really wants enemies to burn (her claws have [+] to dmg against them) and this little fella synergize really well. Good models: -Arcane emissary: 0 action to push AND give a super free Scrap. Solid model on its own. -Willie: good shooter, ignores armor, cover, LoS.. -Large Arachnid: good tanky minion. Can create more scraps, eat schemes to buff itself. -Sparks: economic henchman, gives Fast to constructs and has a situational game changing ability. -Firestarter: really good scheme runner, sets things afire (enemies or rail golem..) There are some more, like gunsmiths or Dec Acolities, but these should be more than enought to start. Byez
  24. I'd say even not to take Ramos against Arcanists. We have lots of anti-armor but the real reason is Marcus. He's the worst match up to play against 'cause he can Alpha Ramos and make him explode (along with some other construct friend).
  25. Hi there. I don't follow a specific rule, really. When I megnetize some my model it's usually a spider, which are very expendibles.. hopefully unactivated ones (regen 1 from BET). If i have a useless and unused card in hand, i valutate if it's worth to discard it or take burning on the minion. If a construct dies with Magn. or burning, it will heal ramos and gives me a scrap, so it's not quite bad thing. But, mostly I use Magnetism against the opponent, if possible. Last night I never targeted one of my models except for EC on T1.
