  1. @JDAntoine and @RedHood I think both are very valid points... Whilst I am in the hobbyist camp the idea of having to assemble entire units of figures before being able to play would delay game time by many months...on the other hand trying to clean up preassembled minis that I haven't seen close up makes me wonder how hard painting them will be...whilst there will be stunning examples of painted models I can imagine a lot of basecoat and basic wash armies being fielded Ultimately because it is designed as a fast moving game I think that being able to play straight from the box will work to its advantage as in the long run the collectors and hobbyists will probably end up buying extra units to paint whilst learning the game in grey plastic
  2. Great looking crew - look forward to following your progress- great job on Huggy - really looks the part !
  3. Total awesomeness with a bit more awesome on the side...I might wear my eyes out looking at your work....it is great trying to learn and be inspired by others...the colours are so vivid and blends are so subtle...Wow !
  4. For me the entire steampunk vibe and look is an excellent thing...but with KE the look is also flirting quite heavily with First World War uniforms/steel helmets etc...ok...that works well in an alternate world/steampunk setting...BUT....blunderbusses are either historically from the late seventeen hundreds or early eighteen hundreds or they are Elmer Fudd...in the early twentieth century for me it just doesn't cut it either way.The other three factions are far enough removed from reality to work well as fantasy but KE are neither War Of The Worlds or early twentieth century military. ...on a similar note whilst most of the elements of the KE overall look very good as a human element for TOS The Dragoons to my eye also look cartoonish and not at all military. It is one thing to invent Infiltrators who totally look the part and look as though they could step in or out of Malifaux at a moments notice...but the cavalrymen are devoid of all the military paraphernalia that historically made them heavy hitters....obviously this is just my opinion.
  5. This is part of the developing storyline that I am following with great interest...I know that from the get go Wyrd have said the two games are stand alone even though they share the same universe and fair enough it's their game so their rules....and the two different base sizes is a guarantee of that....BUT...the greater the connection between the two then the more interest I have for TOS On a visual level alone The Infiltrators plus most of Burning Man Cult could easily be imagined flickering at the edges of Malifaux
  6. Am loving this board and all the skill and dedication you are putting into it...thanks for sharing
  7. ECB Black Ops on looks alone....would buy them simply to paint them even f I wasn't interested in the game
  8. @RikLok Really nice job on the performers - nice strong colours
  9. I have spent many years (and many money) drifting in and out of games and projects that either caught my eye or inspired me in one way or another...BUT...I can honestly say that Malifaux not only caught MY eye but also that of my girlfriend and the small mountain of models that we have already accumulated would have normally have worn down my enthusiasm by now...whereas this game and these models in particular never cease to inspire me...so time spent painting is something I really look forward to rather than see as a necessary chore
  10. Some great looking crews there...I especially like the mechanical rider
  11. Do you have any photos of how you pinned her foot ? It would be very useful to see
  12. Wow ! Beautiful job...you nailed it ! The light catching her wings is superb...I imagine the pinning or contact point for her foot was very small...will it withstand gaming ?
  13. I've kind of been sitting on the fence up until now...think I just fell off ! The Burning Man renders are absolutely fantastic...seeing them all together on a board would be a sight to behold...every figure is stand out....except the rhino thingy...the ECB Black Ops are something I would buy just to paint up if I saw them in a store
  14. "Honey....what are all these grey things in the fridge ?....and where did all the food go ?"..... Just projecting ahead....preparing the ground so to speak
  15. Excellent ....wanders off to polish masochist badge
  16. As an add on to Solkans' question - will the unassembled models be of a harder/non flexible plastic ?
  17. I shall be following your progress with interest and wishing you enjoyment along the way as me and my wife are at exactly the same point...with the difference being that whilst having enjoyed painting a few miniatures over the years this game got both of ours attention...with regard to what to buy next we already became a multi faction household...I had already spotted Jakob Lynch so the Neverborn in the starter set was ideal for me...my wife likes the Molly/Resser vibe so they are under construction...but as I read that she is not one of the easiest masters to learn then, for now ,my wife will be sticking to The Guild as we get used to the mechanics of the game.Once we get a bit more confident we will try and find a local henchman to help us improve our game. On my paint table there are already Guild extras like Guardsmen and Austringers and Jakob Lynch's set so that as we learn we can start adding or swapping out crew members....great thing about the starter set though is that all eight figures are mercenaries so will always be useful...where you go next is really up to you and not dictated by their faction Good luck in your adventures !
  18. If this is any help to you then I'd say don't worry yet....was it regular shipping as opposed to Priority ?...my Gencon order with regular shipping took about eight days from confirmation....but that wasn't during the mail build up for Christmas
  19. Love the video, love the previews of the sculpts....BUT....like you mention...the seasons seem to come and go as I work on just a small number of figures so 45 would be a real worry... that and what kind of plastic they will be made from - that could be make or break for me...the idea of having to remove flash on some of those figures gives me the heebie jeebies let alone 45 of them....the detailing and look of the mechs and Cult figures will keep me watching closely
  20. Am only just venturing into Malifaux so have been lurking in the background as news and review shots were released etc....as soon as I saw the table set up I just went "Wow !"...hit the pause button...rewind....show to girlfriend who stopped working to go "Wow !"...the sculpts look fantastic and think it safe to say the video definitely works
  21. Order just arrived and other than to say how fast the shipping was I just want to state how helpful customer service were when mid sale I wanted to add something I missed to the order...truly outstanding service
  22. Wow !...just wow !...jaw hits floor in every language known to man...flames reflecting on her scabbard are superb
  23. Don't panic !! Two days after my Gencon order arrived the FedEx site showed it as still being miles away and still in transit
  24. That's a great looking crew you got there...very nice blending and subtle choice of palette combined with style...the NMM on the swords looks good too...look forward to seeing more
  25. I am really enjoying watching this come together...very well thought out and some great detailing....most inspirational
