  1. That's correct, the second corpse came from the Dandy. He was my second activation (mourner first) and he dropped a scheme then converted it with his bonus. It was standard deployment and I had the Rider, Seamus, and Emissary in a line near the middle. Yin was a bit behind and to the left. The mourner was immediately behind the front three. The Dandy was a couple of inches behind the mourner. Copycat was off to the side a bit. The key is having the models with GST (Yin and Mourner in this case) with 3" of the models you want to gain the focus.
  2. So I tried a double focus round 1 last night and it worked pretty well. It was Standard Symbols with Claim Jump, Assassinate, Leave Your Mark, Hidden Martyrs, and Runic Binding. Against Guild (Lady J). So I had: Seamus - The Whisper + 4 stones Copycat Killer Dead Rider Carrion Emissary Yin, The Penangalan - Grave Spirit's Touch Mourner - Grave Spirit's Touch Dead Dandy It worked pretty well having Focus +2 on Seamus, Rider, Dandy and Emissary as well as Focus +1 on Yin to start the game. I used 8 of them through the first three turns. I don't think I used Yin's since she was out collecting symbols. We called it after that and talked through the rest of game since his crew was pretty decimated at that point. I was only up 3-2 at the end of 3 but there wasn't really any chance of him scoring any schemes. It would have likely been 6 or 7 to 3 (maybe 4). Anyway, the point is that the focus saturation (which of course is good) seemed to be fairly efficient. The Mourner isn't a very good model itself. I would have rather had a Doxy, but I think it was worth it for the corpse.
  3. They're pretty cool. Great for leylines. They would be pretty good scheme runners if McCabe didn't already have Hucksters and Desper. More ride with me is always handy.
  4. I wasn't really thinking about the list as a way to do anything except get double focus on Seamus, the Dead Rider, and Emissary (plus whoever else is hanging around). That isn't that you don't want the other models to do something, but they don't have to carry the load for you. I would think that would provide a load of efficiency to the crew, but it it good to hear you've seen it in action and it has been less than stellar. I may very well try it myself soon to see if my experience differs.
  5. It was early in 3rd, before the changes to Stitched and Idols, but Dreamer/Zoraida as a combo was absolutely crushing everything in our meta. That combo won a tournament early on and, as a result, they implemented the Bans variant (I don't really think that was the right solution to the dual master problem since Bans can hit some factions pretty hard). I haven't seen the combo played post nerf and in GG1, so it may not be bad at all these days. Dreamer is still very powerful in almost any situation.
  6. My quick pass on masters: Best – Dashel, Von Schtook, Dreamer, Colette, Sandeep, Leveticus, Som’er, McCabe, Asami Better – Nellie, Lucius, Seamus, Kirai, Molly, Jack Daw, Yan Lo, Pandora, Zoraida, Titania, Nekima, Ironsides, Parker, Zipp, Ophelia, Mah, Shenlong, Misaki Good – Lady J, Perdita, Hoffman, Reva, McMourning, Kaeirs, Rasputina, Mei Fang, Viktorias, Von Schill, Tara, Ulix, Wong, Brewmaster, Lynch, Youko OK – Basse, Sonia, Marcus, Euripides, Hamelin
  7. Dandy (4) + Doxy (6) + GST (2) + Grave Digger (6) = 18. I think the biggest downside is that the Dandy has to burn a 7 to flip the scheme marker he just created to a corpse marker. Those can be a hot commodity in a Seamus crew. The Mourners don't have any flips required, so the double focus just happens. I think both options would be worth trying out to see what works better on the table.
  8. I've been thinking a lot recently about the best way to get that double focus on round 1. I think you spend two more points and get: Dead Dandy Dead Doxy + GST Grave Digger I think it maybe works out to be a better set of models to do something after the first round, although you do have to burn more AP to achieve the same goal (although you are bringing more AP to the table). I do think a crew like that (with Emissary, Rider, and either Yin or Bette) ought to have enough damage output to keep up (considering Speedyguy's comments). The Rider is a beast. I am very interested to hear if you try the mourners and, if so, how they work.
  9. Hans does a great job disrupting your opponents plans in many situations. The ability to apply staggered at 28" is fantastic. He can shut down the round one Valedictorian attack with that attack. He can keep a mature nephlim out of charge range. He can stop the lodestone carrier from getting to the second ley line in round two. I think it's his best trigger. It really stinks that he has to discard a card for it and I would agree that he probably won't be overpowered if that ability was Adaptive instead but I do think he's fine.
  10. Ivan will have a lot of fun things to play with. He can summon these off of about anyone (with 2 crows). These guys look pretty flavorful. I can't wait to see what the more powerful Umbra models look like!
  11. Yeah, I've used the Bone Piles for that before, but I just never really thought about Anna before.
  12. It only just dawned on me in the past week, after seeing how well Ronins can operate in Ley Lines, that Ressurs has a similar trick. Anna can kill an undead model within 18" with a free action, throwing the lodestone to the nearest model. In a Von Schtook crew you can throw the lodestone on a Necropunk or Undergraduate who can benefit from fast given out by The Professor or by Sloth and gain extra movement from the Research Assistant (and Emissary if necessary) to secure the first 2-3 markers. When you need to do so Anna can snipe him from far away and send the stone where you need it. Could be a nice trick.
  13. I would agree they're all pretty good right now, but Von Schtook might take the top spot in my mind.
  14. Yeah, but the Guild player can bring in Lady J, who can Restore Order, which will get rid of all conditions within 4". That can wipe out all of the poison on both your models and their models (and has a trigger that can damage and injure you).
  15. In the Gen Con kickoff they mentioned the Guild Mages and Gatling Gunners will be versatile models for Guild. Interesting. I wonder what gaps they might fill in Guild. The Gunners seem pretty obviously, based on the models, immobile long range options. But the Guild Mages could fill a variety of roles. I don't play TOS, but they mentioned in the kickoff that these guys were battlefield control and it sounded like they had some terrain manipulation capability. Anyone know any more?
  16. I don't play with or against Guild that much, but overall this looks pretty good. Some quick thoughts: Lone Marshal - seems more like A/B to me Undercover Reporter - you're probably right with B/B since it is situational, but it is a lot of situations and awesome. You may well be running journalists in those situations. Hard not to go A/B+ Mounted Guard - A/I would add a B after the slash especially with No Prisoners Santiago - only a C+ in keyword? I thought he was better (but haven't seen him on the table) Peacekeeper - is he as bad as D? I was a bit surprised you rated Hoffman over Lucius as well. It appears like a solid set of rankings with the minimal knowledge I have of Guild.
  17. I'm surprised you place Shenlong here. I could see McCabe > Asami perhaps, but Shenlong seems pretty middle of the road after the nerf (although I haven't seen him since).
  18. Lady J really needs her triggers, so Stunning her is really effective. For that Von Schtook gives you lots of options. The other way to pin her down is with the Necrotic Machine. One he gives her poison she is affected by Neurotoxins, so she can't use triggers or soulstones. She may be able to cut him down in one activation, but it is far from guaranteed with his armor 2.
  19. Speaking of demise, Lord Cooper's Put Down trigger is a real bane to a the heavy demise crews like Leveticus, McCabe, and Yan Lo. He can really mess up normally reliable models like The Midnight Stalker, Serena Bowman, or the Mounted Guard. The Midnight Stalker is the only one of those he can one shot. I would probably hesitate to take any of those into Explorer's Society for that reason, which is interesting because models like TMS and Serena are almost staples in a lot of crews.
  20. You do need focus since it is a cost you have to pay in order to use the Reload action.
  21. Anyone using a second master with Dashel? Lady J, Perdita, Lucius, and Sonnia all seem like they could be possibilities. I haven't tried it mind you, but since he can summon about everything he needs it could be fun to bring different masters for different situations.
