  1. I recently ran a Vik's list i like to call "the rough neck" for gaurd the stash. Bishop, Laz, 2x convict gunslingers, johan, max oath and howling wolf tat plus some other bits. There was a "no live zone"near the middle and i got the message delivered (oathkeeper bishop FTW). I kept the viks seperated most of this game as they were both covering the far flanks in case anyone tried to skirt around the kill zone. This is yet another completely different list style with teh viky's and i continue to be surprised by the variety of functions these girls can serve.
  2. As a tangle shoadow target and a pus bomb ive had him work decently. Other than that unfortunatly he has left me wanting some other very decent 7 stone models we have access to.
  3. Yeah these are good choices for beginners playthrough given the faction choices. The crews will depend on the strat/scheme pool so that is also an important point to showcase in your vids. Schill has great ranged power, and an very solid synergy with anything keyword "friekorps". Its actually difficult to make a bad list with him. Lynch on the other hand can play very well to specific strats but he has to cater the list more than the friekorps. The man himself is a glass cannon that has absurd damage potential and can pass out conditions to benefit his crew. Huggy, Illuminated, and Graves hit like a ton of bricks too. Depleted are one of the most resiliant 4 pointers in the game, illuminated and waldgiest are fairly resiliant as well. Tannen is a walking "piss your opponent off model" because of his chatty aura and anti cheat aura, but his manipulative is the only thing keeping him alive so be careful with that. Overall these crews should promise a good matchup but make sure you have plenty of terrain otherwise the friekorps will have a clear advantage. Now if only you had a plethera of terrain near where you were filming....
  4. I honestly dont have probs with ressers but its prob because i run vics when they are declared. Add taelor and johan(a) and make sure you take the mark of Shez and then salt the rest of the crew to strat. Blood and taelor or more than cabable to keep the summoner on the back foot and are far less card intesive than the summoning itself. Just make sure the rest of your crew do the jobs they were brought for (scheme running wretches, gunslingin convicts...whatever).
  5. IDK i find better uses for lilith's AP then summon the blood, but thats just me. Now the blade on the other hand becomes such the win with all the terrain templates your dropping. Between transfixing gaze and the cherubs trigger, rooted targets just evaporate.
  6. Strat: Interference Corner deployment Schemes:Assassinate/Bodygaurd/ALITS/power ritual/take prisoner My Crew: Power ritual (revealed)/assassinte Collodi-Threads of fate/fated/strum the threads(4 cache) Widow weaver-handbag 4x marionettes Brutal effigy Arcane effigy 2x stitched together Wicked doll His Crew: Power ritual (revealed)/assassinte Tara-obliteration symbiote/knowledge of eternity (7 cache) Nothing beast-Void shield Karina-the faces of oblivion 3 x void wretch Rotten belle Bette noir-decaying aura Both groups fanned out at the borders of the backwater swampland and surveyed the surroundings. As much as he hated to admit it, the floating effigy had been right there was a need to come out in this drab and dirty backwater. This was obviously a place rich in power that needed to harnessed for the sweet song of creation. The master of puppets NEEDED this power and he wasn’t going to let a few rotting corpses and translucent creatures get in his way. “Look there my children,” he reached out to the minds of his minions “that girl with the hole in her chest and her friends want to take your fathers precious treasures buried in the swamp. We cannot let that happen.” The puppets stood motionless, but he knew that his will would be done. His control over his creations was absolute. The spider demon that decided to tag along nodded in affirmation. The puppets streaked toward the far corners of the bog. The little wicked doll paused only to carve an arcane symbol into a tree trunk. The Undead girl and her crew responded, shimmering bipedal creatures streaking to intercept the puppet cohorts going to the corners. A large mass of tentacled nothingness floated forward, trees and shrubs disintegrating in its wake. Upon seeing this, the puppet master strode forward to the crest of a small hill that he may better survey the theatrics playing out before him. “Arise and bring death to the matchstick man” chanted the undead woman as a dual dagger apparition materialized in front of her. With a scream the killer charged Collodi. Her first dagger plunged into his wooden spine (red joker), but her 2nd swiped through the open air. She cocked her head in a confused gesture as the splintered remains of a marionette was scattered in front of her and the master of puppets stood smiling several paces away. The Brutal effigy imbued his master with blessing that then radiated out among his fellow puppet companions. He then took carful aim and shot the killer bête before him (although not very significantly but give him credit he’s doing his best…) He then prompted the widow weaver into action who then sent out a 2nd sickening web and attempted unsuccessfully to paralyze the bête with fear. Sensing the leaders distraction, the nothing beast charged the puppet master smacking twice once toward a tear of unreality, which the puppet master barely dodged. As the creatures 3rd swing descended a soft squishy bag of body parts appeared where Collodi was standing. In response to this assault, Collodi had glimpsed the thread of unreality connected the beast to this plain. The puppet master sheared this link with his own threads of power and the beast vanished in a flash. For good measure Collodi whip cracked a thread into the bête slowing her progress. As his assault faded his previous wounds began to mend themselves. With the banishing of the nothing beast and the inevitable demise of bête, Tara realized that this construct was no minor threat. She ordered an all out assault of the puppet man. Both Karina and a Void wretch threw everything they had at the puppet master inflicting only minor scratches. Meanwhile on the far corners a couple of marionettes took up positions to enact the arcane ritual as their mastered had ordered. In one corner a stitched pulled up a table (it would be better not to ask from where) and had a bit of gambling fun with a void wretch, who was not amused and gave the bag of body parts a dose of his own medicine. Bete, sensing her death at hand swung uselessly at a marriontte. The brutal effigy confirmed his status as “most awesome effigy buff machine ever” and buffed the master and prompted him into action. Collodi in return shredded the void wretch and bête with strings of pure power and reconnected with puppet bond with the arcane effigy. The stitched finally found his lucky streak and gambled a void wretch back into oblivion. After several attempts to down the puppet master including bête version 2.0 materializing from Karina’s corpse, Tara decided that she had better thing to do with her eternity and that she didn’t need this rotten patch of swampland any way. The day was won, but there was little time to rejoice. Some of his children erected mounds on the areas that radiated the most power, the others gathered the scraps of their fallen brethren. Collodi dreaded and loved the hour of craft that would be required to bring those wooden fragments back to life, but that was a task for a later time. His work here needed to be finished. There was a brilliant song whispering in the breeze and he would be prepared to harness it. This was a fun game that had a lot of close calls. My opponent did not realize just how hard it can be to put Collodi down, and in looking at his crew choice I assumed assassinate was in the pool. I put the master right out in front turn 1 and this baited in the heavy hitters allowing me to isolate and destroy them one at a time, however do the constant pressure I was never able to go after Tara myself. With my superior activation number I was able to hold strat and power ritual down. I continue to love Collodi and am planning to use props a little more as the puppets themselves didn’t use the buffs for diddly squat. Game ended 7-0 to the neverborn
  7. Nice Report, i see you've met the unkillable hatter....with a kill base crew! I feel your pain as one of the most prolific gents in my meta is a seamus fanatic and ive learned the hard way that he is a tough nut to crack. Your tactic of belle murder was right on target, just unfortunate about forgetting killjoy that 1st time i've seen it done all to often.
  8. All good advice here, it does boild down to a theme, Collodi makes minions awesomer. While the box is nice (though i dont use the wicked dolls outside of thw widow weaver) the manequins are more a tax to the master than real game changers. Dont get me wrong i love the lil puppets and woundn't consider a different master for Collodi, but you need to fill other gaps. All minions work better with the master puppet being the best but dont let that hold you back. Use what you got and get good at Collodi's shenanagins. If your meta has not experienced him yet then it may actually cause less moaning if you use him non-optimal for the 1st couple of outings.
  9. Lets Not forget Killjoy. Nothing says special delivery like a Wakizashi to the gut!
  10. It is indeed any model to remove focus/defensive so uits not bad for 1 AP. Yes BBlood is great to froce into place around the field....didn't you know Collodi was seceretly the king of the Nephilim?
  11. Problem here ive found is that nekima doesn't have a built in mask so makes the flay tough (good for tot's but who cares). BB shammy is a great bang for the buck as he has the potential do fill a lot of gaps with big hitters. In a local hardcore I recently ran Nekima +fears given form Mature Neph Tot Tot This crew was not very card dependent. Tots sprint to engage, with decent def the can do alright. The the Mature and Nekima Fly up an erradicate everything.
  12. No its a freebie if it were the case you could only take 4 X 4 soulstone models in 20 that would be bananas
  13. Doh!! thats what you get for reading 80 of an ability, if you'll excuse me i have some friends to appologize to
  14. On a related note if a BB shman injects said stitched and later pustules it can be double dipped via rotten contents aaaaaaaaaand if timed correctly with proper wounds a cheated crow on said pustule can drop stictched to hard to would gaining reactivate, then heal it 3 . I've said to much.....i should go now
  15. Yeah the wicked dolls for me seem to be an after thought, if i am left with not enought for a large ss investment but still want another puppet. A much tougher question in my opinion is how many stitched? I can never decide....
  16. I use wicked dolls as not caring scheme runners, they are cheep and are often overlooked. Ht one and decent defense makes them often ignored, i use 1 if at all. I do at times run the widow weaver to resummon him, but to calrify a previous post this can only be done from a scrap marker. The teddy however can be made from both scrap and corpse, oh to see the look of horror when you summon teddy with an 11
  17. Ok so i recently got a Lazarus (what a nice kit) and i want to start merc'n him in the puppet masters troupe. In other games he has held a flank quite nicely, so i imagine he will fill a similar role in a collodi crew. My question is i have heard musings about the assimilate 0 action Laz has and it synergy with teh master of puppets. Is there something other that this works particularly well for. Has anyone used this and what action did you copy.
  18. Sorry to hear your friend is losing interest, what worked for me is to introduce the friend to the community at large there is a surprising amount of support here and i believe it really hepls foster excitement beyond the fantastic aestitic and smooth mechanic of the game
  19. Since the topic here is the viks then ill go ahead and ask a question ive been wondering about for a while. If not running a malifaux child....have you viks players been running sisters in fury? Im finding that i actually use it less and less as i play more and 2 stones is a hefty investment for something hardly used. It seems that one the rare occasion i do get it off it tends to be overkill. What is the consensous at large, worth it or no?
  20. I feel like there was supposed to be a hyperlink here..... I havent found the viks to be weak personaly, but there are several ways to play the crew. Once you drop the supposed standard upgrades I find that the viks are a stand alone non-ignorable element in a crew that is a flexable as your 40ish stones will allow. As far as locking the Viks down with throw away models...i havent found this to be an issue. If i find a target to be exposing, then i will avoid or circumvent that target which is not hard at all with the vikkies.
  21. So i got my viks up and running and i love the playstyle. I mean killing is always fun in any game, but the viks do it with a certian flair. The question i have is with the student of conflict. I like the way she plays but i found he a littl left behind in the mid later game. I was thinking of running her along side vanessa but i dont know. It just seemed that if i got the init jump then i wanted to pounce with the viks and not waste an activation passing out fast or moving either up, at which point the viks went flying and the student was left insignificantly behind. Also, anything with decaying aura (especially bete noir) is terri-bad for the vikkies
  22. To my understanding it can be any 1 action including attack, tacticle, walk, or interact with no triggers. It's an obey with a whipper snap!
  23. Thanks for the insight all. I've been under the illusion that those listed schemes HAD to be revieled to get max points so ive almost always revieled em. No that it is at least an option i may have to reconsider. Excellent.........(steeple' s fingers)
  24. Ok so this is a total noob question, but it came up recently in a game and i for the life of me couldn't give a proper answer. So as you know soem schemes can be revieled or hidden, usually giving a bonus if they are revealed. The question was based on the wording of the scheme is it possible to get 3 vp on breaktrough, protect territory, plant evidence, and power ritual if tehy are not revieled at the start of the game. I thought that they needed to be revieled to get the full VP, but after re-reading at the questioning of one of our newer player it seems to indicate that revealing these schemes just make 3 VP easier to achieve.
