  1. Hey Mako, I just picked up the Yan Lo boxed and realized that he would make a far better LoPan than Wong. (plus they aren't on the same team). And, Yan Lo has a huge surface just asking to be Free Handed. I looked at LoPans costume in the movie and it's like a flaming dragon with green scales going down and blue/gold strip around the hand openings. I made a feeble attempt at sculpting his hat and it didn't turn out so great, lol.
  2. 3 days to go on this amazing, and affordable Kickstarter Pop UP Terrain. check it out. These will also be offered in Color. You can get the whole kit (and pdf documents to print your own) for $37 in color. $32 in Sepia. It works like those pop up books, so it will fold flat and can be easily carried while traveling. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2087444096/pop-up-miniature-terrain-kit examples there is more at the link. What do you think? Good for Malifaux?
  3. I am using the exact same combo. lol, but also adding in some Army Painter Tundra, there are many different colors they offer for this.
  4. Could this secret be that you're entering the painting Competition? If so, good luck
  5. I just stumbled across this and I thought there is certainly some people around this place that would want these for playing Malifaux. I hope its ok to post this here. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/786438508/plugged-nickel-playing-cards-printed-by-uspcc example
  6. I really like the bold red on the Justice crew. I can't wait to see how you paint some of the M2E
  7. I am attempting to buy badges but I do not understand how to get more than one. Do I buy the family package (which is $30), then I can add additional family members for $0.00 ?
  8. Gotta .... get .... them .... all....
  9. I added a mask to the edges and feathered it. With the foam absorbing and reflecting light how it does, combined with the feathered edges, I think that's why it looks that way.
  10. No worries @ dgraz - this could probably be useful for most of us. What is the ISO? I thought it was shutter speed.
  11. @ monkeyboy - that helps a lot actually. I wasn't messing with any settings except the size of the image. Looking at my camera, the shutter speed settings go from auto up to 1600 with several settings between. I'll experiment around and see what I can get. Also, I'm gonna try the diffuser and the white balance. Those are the only 3 things I'm changing at the moment. Be right back with some pics. How about now? This was my first try at ever painting fire. I'm using miniature case foam as its all I have at the moment. I put a towel over the flash, set balance to fluoroescent as I'm using a 2 foot bulb. Changed the shutter to ISO 1600. Open Spoiler
  12. man, this game is so awesome and I haven't even played it yet. lol.
  13. Coming from a new player (haven't played yet, still learning), I'd prefer to see the action as it happens. I know this is more difficult and time consuming to do though. Does anyone make these kinds of batreps?
  14. I'll try that, thanks. Do you mix medium into making your glazes or just water them down?
  15. haha I do a lot of painting at work as well. I'm an x-ray tech and I work the weekends, so I'm the only one there. Whenever I get interrupted, its usually only for ten minutes at most. what do you do, may I ask?
  16. Hey thanks for the critiques. I have actually been contemplating whether I should go for a 2nd highlight. Right now I'm just doing one. I'll try that out on the next model I work on. Good idea on the red shading as well. I have been using a purple wash, but you're right, that shade isn't deep enough. I actually just started using a wet pallet recently and it has been way better. Saves on paint too. (currently using papertowel + parchment paper). I've been contemplating picking up an Optivisor. Ever use one?
  17. I support this motion. (currently rocking a Walking Dead Hershel Beard myself).
  18. lol yeah, I meant Santiago. I'm gonna have to pick me up some of that charcoal grey. I just started using vallejo and I like them a lot.
  19. Very nice. I especially like what you did with Francisco. I was struggling with that model and now you have given me some ideas. What color did you use on his pants? One critique - Ortega's pale shirt on the waist draws your eye down there when the eye should be drawn to the face.
  20. The camera I'm using is a Canon Power Shot A4000 IS. I originally primed the witchings in white, then taped off the blades so they stayed white, then primed the rest in black. I wanted the colors to pop on those blades, which white is supposed to help with that. I then painted it with a fade from yellow, orange to red on the edges but I didn't like it. The colors for my Guild army are Red, Blue, White, Purplish Coats and that Grey/Brown Khaki so I went with the pale blue fading up to white at the top (which you can't see very well in the pic) I'm trying to work the overall theme together so all the Guild models are cohesive, not just the individual crews with each other.
  21. cool man, I appreciate that. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your stuff as well.
  22. I agree on taking criticism. I'd rather have ten people tell me my work is crap but provide a reason, than not have anyone comment at all.
  23. Those poison dart slurid's are nice. I really like the profile on the yellow one especially.
  24. Ok, photos are looking a little better. These bases are not the final bases, I just use these to paint the mini's with. Sorrows Witchling Stalkers
