  1. NPC Guild Officer Jon McLane: Has a habit of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Is famous for using quirky sayings like "yippee kiyaee mother f%#^er" Adventure Hook: As the party enters through the breach on the train for the first time they can't help but notice that it's failing to slow down at the main station. When suddenly three very Eastern European men bust in and inform everyone the train has been hijacked. At this point officer Jon McLane bursts in guns blazing. Do the fated help to save the passengers, do they off McLane and side with the bandits, or do they simply try to bail off a runaway train? ---------- Post added at 07:08 AM ---------- Previous post was at 06:41 AM ---------- Also leaves plenty of room for poorly done sequels at train stations, and mining towns *grin* I've been watching too many action movies lately, but here's another one Adventure hook: As the Fated sit at (bar, shop, etc. . .) a small mechanical spider scurries up to them and on it is written a note requesting help with (insert suspense here). At the end of the message it says "This spider will self destruct in 5 seconds" the resulting minor explosion can lead to some much unwanted attention for the group even if they decide not to chase down the lead (circa mission impossible)
  2. We're constantly getting disconnected and then can't even pull the map up and our controls get locked out. We just downloaded Vassal tonight and frankly I want to throw my laptop out the window
  3. Looks amazing! Idea=stolen which line of there's did you order from?
  4. Ratty, not sure on the sizes. I bought this http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2062588&filterName=Price&filterValue=%244.00+-+%245.99 At radio shack and used the larger red one. It has some really small red ones that might work great on the metal gamin
  5. Sweet, I booked the flight today! I'll drop the pay pal payment as soon as some of my eBay sales clear. Also, if we're running a dual faction master can our pool of models be from different factions ie: can I bring Mei and have a pool with both Kaeris and Ten Thunder archers in it, but of course only use one faction each game? I figured probably not but wanted to make sure I get the right stuff painted before I come.
  6. Are there still spots open? I'm thinking about flying in from Texas and road tripping with my buddy from Portland
  7. @ Ratty 1 LED not sure exactly what size can check tomorrow, but it was red and I applied a thinned yellow coat over it to give it an orange effect. @Tombanjo Emberling was crazy easy. Based him on a pile of green stuff then used a medium turf to make it look like he was coming out of a larger pile. Covered it all in yellow with more thinned orange at the base. This was exceptionally sloppy really no attempt at detail work. I then hit it with GW red glaze which gives it this slightly wet color and shades the orange to the deeper red at the base and the yellow to a vibrant orange. I did this leaving some yellow in places then simply dry brushed black over the top and picked out a few areas with more black and a darkened up grey. My typical technique is very sloppy (re: stay within the lines no extreme focus on detail) initially then heavy washes( two ones currently in heavy rotation are GW Nuln Oil and Reikland Fleshshade). After that I thin down the original colors and come back to do a highlight then one more highlight with a slightly lighter version of the original. I started using a wet palette last year and it's made a huge difference. I use a P3 palette I picked up at my FLGS. I tried making my own but didn't have much luck. I'm finally starting to get the eyes down, finished up Niño, Fransisco and Santiago last night. pictures to come
  8. Thanks Demonn! Here's another update, going to try and get these done weekly. This week I managed to finish up Kang and one rail worker. Still trying to get the eyes down . . . I remeber why I always used to leave that detail off. I also started work on my wife's Perdita crew. She likes the models and I'm hoping to get her hooked on the game. Kang Just noticed the apparent gap on his shoulder :1_Exhausted_Puppet: Rail Worker Perdita I did manage to get the eyes looking half decent on Perdita, but just couldn't get a good picture of it. As far as the other two I tried the all black edge with white technique and the black stripe white around the borders and just haven't been able to get anything to line up well. I think I may need to get some smaller brushes but right now I'm using a 18/0 script by Master's Touch. My wife is a red head and so I went with a different look for Perdita and tried to get it more closely resembling her. Well that's it for this week, trying to paint up two more rail workers and some of the Ortegas for next week. If I get bogged down at work I may just end up posting some pictures of my Kaeris crew. Thanks for the read
  9. I think it might bypass hard to wound but not likely slow to die
  10. Any chance this could be a weekend event? Just hoping I could make it down
  11. How I'd you do the blood effect on Graves?
  12. Thanks for the tutorial link, I'll have to try that out Also thank you for the kind comments
  13. Thanks for the comments, hopefully the LED lasts since it only gets used for short periods. The rail golem body is already hollow enough for the LED I had to drill through the legs to run the wire which now comes out the back of his leg and can be seen in pictures 1-3. The eyes and grate had to be drilled and carved out. There's a pretty sweet tutorial at the link I put up above. Any ideas on how to paint the cotton? I've had no luck with spray paint or acrylics. Just finished up Mei After multiple failed attempts to get her pupils going the same direction, I gave up and went for a glow effect instead. Now if I could just figure out how to have a crushed soul stone in her hand. . .
  14. I picked up the rail crew box set recently and just managed to get it put together prior to an event in Austin. Seemed like everyone had their models painted up and I felt pretty lame bringing unpainted models to the table. Here's my progress so far. I wish I could say the LED idea was mine but I was inspired by Demonn Anagram and his post http://www.wyrd-games.net/showthread.php?26892-Demonn-s-Lair/page23 The materials were purchased at RadioShack for about $25, and despite what some online tutorials said, I didn't need to solder the connections or put a resistor into the circuit. The battery is a 3v lithium disc. Will have more pictures to follow as the crew progresses. ---------- Post added at 08:19 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:09 AM ---------- I'm not as excited about the emberling. I think he needs to be more on fire, but c&c are welcome
  15. So I totally used your idea for the LED, it was brilliant! For those in the US, I was easily able to find everything I needed at RadioShack for around $25 (would have been less but I didn't have any electrical wiring). Thank you for the inspiration and motivation to take my modeling skills to a level I didn't think was possible :Powerful_Puppet:
  16. This event sounds amazing, so much so that I checked into airfare from the US, but at $1500, it's just not something I can swing much less sell the wife on. It would be great if you posted pictures, we have a growing malifaux group in central Texas and running an event like this over here might further solidify it.
  17. You might want to consider picking up the Lady Justice box set, has a more straight forward play mechanic than collette or dreamer. Both crews seem to have a pretty steep learning curve from everyone I've talked to
  18. Our table played kill the ghoul, the gun smiths and rail workers did a pretty good job
  19. Is there a reference for this? I've checked the rule book, errata and FAQ with no luck
  20. I got to play with Mr. Graves for the first time the other night and my friend ran the Viks box set. We ended up with questions on both Graves and Taelor's push abilities. For example Taelor is 3in away and hits with her hammer and triggers knockback. Does the model stay where it is as it is already 3in away from this model or does the trigger now place it 6in away? My interpretation is the model would end up six inches away As for Graves with "Bar's Closed", "may be pushed up to 4" directly away from the point chosen. Again, can the models end up greater than 4in" away from the point? Graves casts bar's closed 6in in front of him the vik is 2in away from the point. Does she get pushed 4in away now being a total of 6in away from the point where Bar's Closed was placed? My search-fu is weak and couldn't turn up an answer
