  1. Just a thought, maybe you could try using clear fingernail polish to fix scratches and scrapes, it is acrylic and thicker than the varnishes we use. You could even 'paint' with it if you can find some colored transparent ones. As stated previously, test it out first.
  2. I also mostly use white and then put down a wash guide cost . I have a hard time picking out details when I use a black primer. Army painter has colored primers that I have had pretty good luck with, but they are expensive. Just bought the leather brown one, but haven't had a chance to use it yet.
  3. I've always played it as the slow is applied by the summons which happens before the immediate effect performed by the voodoo doll. The book wasn't much help with this one, at least under summons and slow descriptions.
  4. http://www.reapermini.com/figurefinder#detail/03461 http://www.reapermini.com/figurefinder#detail/59002 http://www.reapermini.com/figurefinder#detail/77047 http://www.coolminiornot.com/256438?browseid=7320293 http://www.coolminiornot.com/342857?browseid=7320293
  5. I use a #64 bit and standard paperclips for the bulk of my pinning. Floral wire is another nice stiff wire if you can't get the steel rod bruglyother mentioned,
  6. I'm a huge proponent of magnets and metal (tool) boxes. you can put a lot of stuff in one of these. I have never had problems with things breaking free and flying around.
  7. Reaper, dark age, and helldorado all have a lot of demon minis. As far as his specific weapon... maybe try bitz from the WHF lizardmen.
  8. I original intended to use this to make batreps from my phone, but I'm usually too busy playing to keep notes https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.alarex.gred
  9. here it is all assembled (and right side up this time) local FLGS had base inserts on sale, so the base was easy to do, although you cant really see the interference paint on the pentacle...
  10. https://www.coolminiornot.com/shop/dragyri-clear-resin-greater-storm-elemental-1.html is the same image as the ones from the manufacturer (although this particular one is absent?). there it is called resin, I don't know how to tell the difference from acrylic. I also thought about running some LEDs. I think I will get it painted first and go from there. This is for an upcoming painting league and I have a whole bunch of woes to paint, and I'm not the fastest painter.
  11. Here are my first WIP pictures. This thing is not as clear as I anticipated, which is good, now I can use Zap-a-Gap. All I have done so far is give it a good scrubbing Now the head and bottom half are attached (the bottom was a real PITA to figure out) This is to show the pins. Hopefully once I get the green ink in the low areas it will mask / blend in with the green floral wire that I used. The obvious green pin at the base is unavoidable. There was no other way to get this thing attached solidly.
  12. it's a mini I bought, not one I'm making. I wish I could make something this cool, ... and tinted purple, or maybe green. I still haven't nailed down a color scheme yet
  13. so I just picked up https://www.coolminiornot.com/shop/dragyri-clear-resin-greater-storm-elemental-1.html to proxy for the poltergeist. Before putting it together, I figured I would query to see if anyone has any experience with clear resin. I really only have two multi-part questions. First, What should I use to glue this thing together, plastic cement or zap-a-gap? The plastic cement would be nice so I wouldn't have to pin as much and preserve the clear effect. But if I do have to pin, are there any clear materials I can use, or maybe a colored, fine gauge jewelry wire? Second, paining. I want to preserve the clear effect but want to give it some color and definition. I obviously cannot prime this and I worry that the paint won't adhere to the resin. I can probably use a thin wash to highlight the low areas. I want to also highlight the upper ares with an interference paint. Anyone have any tips or suggestions on how to do this effectively? It was suggested elsewhere that I dullcote the model first to give a paintable surface. I will definitely be posting pictures as I go. p.s. - I also have this thread going on the same topic. There is some good stuff there. http://www.coolminiornot.com/forums/showthread.php?54921-painting-on-clear-resin
  14. due to popular opinion, I ended up going with the clear storm elemental... now to assemble and paint this thing To the Forums...
  15. From the M2e book... Zoraida was a human who crossed into malifaux before the first breach opened
  16. The depleted always served me well, Tannin always did better in my Pandora lists, but he definitely has his uses. In 1.5 the stitched together were always a solid choice, I never ran him as ten thunders, but I've seen 10T archers used to good effect. As far as tactics, in 1.5 protect Jacob, he dies so does hungering darkness. In M2e he is much more survivable and huggy is not as dependant on him.
  17. Joel - did the horse on the Mourngul come pre-attached to the hand or could it be easily taken off? bjorkgnu - I was thinking interference purple or green but yes, light drybrush then a cool base, there are also non-clear versions on their website if you want to see the details better
  18. Thanks for the input, I'd like to keep this thing in the 3"-5" height range, I can go taller, but it won't travel as securely (have to travel on it's side). - I like the void spirit (like the CMON wraith but better), too bad he is so small (website says he is on a 30mm). Not a big fan of hte Kovas model, it might make a decent sorrow, but I'm still not feeling it. - a little liquid green stuff would mute the details on the bottom half of the machine spirit to make it look more like wispy tendrils (at least that is how I thought about approaching it), but I agree, as is it is too mechanical. - Charon is approx 55mm / 2 1/8" tall (90mm 3.5" with staff, ref here: http://arch01.forum.helldorado.fr/index.php?topic=3545), so that makes him a decent Ht 3 model that's not ridiculously large - the Astrakhan / smartmax one says it is 54mm in height not scale, so the same height as Charon I am assuming - the forgeworld Mournguy is supposed to be 5.5" tall so a bit tall for my box, but I was thinking of attaching him to the base by the torso, trying to get rid of the dead horse and then get creative with the arms - the more I look at them, the less I'm feling the other Hell Dorado ones or the bushido one - I did find a different hell dorado one https://www.coolminiornot.com/shop/hell-dorado-etruscilla.html, I think it is going to be small though, the fluff calls it monsterous but the pricetage puts it in the rank and file range - I got poking around on their forums and I think the dark age storm elemental is going to be too tall. It is pictured on a 50mm base. However, they also have these, but I'm not sure how big they are... https://www.coolminiornot.com/shop/dragyri-clear-resin-squalls-3.html https://www.coolminiornot.com/shop/dragyri-clear-resin-zephyrs-3.html https://www.coolminiornot.com/shop/dragyri-hailkins-clear-blue-resin-version-3.html
  19. not sure if this belongs here or in the Miniatures Matters section... I have a painting / escalation M2E league coming up in the immediate future and I am planning on taking Pandora et al. I have all the models already. I actually proxy apparitions (http://wyrd-games.net/shop/Apparitions.html) for sorrows as I never really liked the intended models. My biggest problem now, is that I have the old poltergeist and need the new (50mm super-sized) one. Don't really want to re-buy the crew box, and I'm pretty sure they are not going to sell the new poltergeist separate. I know I could get creative and make a cool base for the old one, but I'm kinda feeling a proxy coming on. I like to spread my love all over the gaming community. There was only one mention in another post. So I figured I'd start one. So I got to looking and here is what I have found so far... feel free to add to this list or shoot down any if you have experience with any of them. http://privateerpress.com/warmachine/gallery/cryx/solos/machine-wraith - the bottom half would need a little liquid green stuff to make it less mech and more spirit, but definitely doable https://cipher-studios.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=36_44&products_id=680&zenid=i6p3krpjr5psiuccla0nj8e9i0 - hack the staff off at the top to make it fit in my box and cover up the leg in the back and actually a pretty close fit. https://cipher-studios.com/store/index.php?main_page=popup_image&pID=571&zenid=i6p3krpjr5psiuccla0nj8e9i0 and https://cipher-studios.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=36_43&products_id=660&zenid=i6p3krpjr5psiuccla0nj8e9i0 - cool effects on these but not sure they are what I want, and the Arabian thing doesn't fit Pandora very well, these are on the bottom of my list http://www.reapermini.com/FigureFinder#detail/02252 - simple yet effective, just not sure of the size, looks kinda small http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer/Warhammer_Monsters/MOURNGUL.html - saw this in another post as a proxy, sweet model, maybe too big? https://www.coolminiornot.com/shop/wraith-1.html - can't remember if Pandora had any interaction with the east but this has a nice asian theme https://www.coolminiornot.com/shop/astrakhan-1-35-scale.html - this one is actualy steampunk... go figure, something that has been missing a lot in the latest sculpts https://www.coolminiornot.com/shop/dragyri-clear-resin-greater-storm-elemental-1.html - there was a non-clear version of this too, the clear has possibilities. it's supposed to be big, but not sure how big feel free to add to this list or shoot down any if you have had experience with any of the above.
  20. The 50mm and old 30mm (no logo) bases take a 2.5mm deep magnet (I used 2.5 x 2.5 x 10mm), actually I switched to putting two 2.5mm cubes on the old 30mm bases as the 10mm ones were too strong. I purchased them all from indigo magnets (indigo.com) The 40mm bases and the new 30mm (have the Wyrd logo on the underside) take a 1/16" magnet ( I used 3/16 x 3/16 x 1/16) I purchased them from K&J magnets (kjmagnetics.com) I hear that the newest plastics have yet another depth 30mm base, but until I get one I cannot measure to determine the magnet needed
  21. Oops my bad, was thinking silent ones, try these... http://www.reapermini.com/FigureFinder#detail/14584 http://www.reapermini.com/FigureFinder#detail/14516
  22. You can also run minion haemlin near the librarian so you are isothermal for something more than healing. Just be careful, freikorps are not immune to his pulse as it does wds and not damage.
  23. so to summarize... The manual says you cannot combine special AP with anything unless the model card says otherwise. The card says it can be used to cast or channel so you can cast a 1ap spell or add it to another AP to channel
