  1. Uh... Sol, they have to choose you. It's an application that you can be not selected for.
  2. Sorry, had to highlight this one; this argument is objectively false. It has been brought up regularly with miniature games and edition changes; I've seen it for Warmahordes v1 to 2, then 2 to 3, Malifaux 1 to 2, and WFB to AoS. I could say it about Relic Knights too, but someone would've had to play Relic Knights. The cultural pressures of tourney play, new shiny models, new rule support, and comparative ease of pick up games grind out the older version every time. These games are not RPGs, where the competitive players are counteracted by the difficulty in picking up a new system, and there's not a terribly functional concept for competitive play, and pick up games aren't really a thing. You noted Necromunda, which is a really good counter example. I am curious how many people play Chainmail. Or more pertinently, Warhammer 40k 6th ed. Or Squats. To place the onus on someone to compete against a newer edition of the same game because they're frustrated by a surprise sunset on their purchase is not cool. Please stop that one. I disagree on 2 as a viable argument, as it essentially gets to the core of the concerns; the impression is clearly that these purchases will not be supported when the assertion is that they would be. Telling them that they might get support is kinda missing the reason they're annoyed. Arguement 3 (Dead Hand and TO etc) are addressed elsewhere, but generally you get more people playing with accepted tourney structure and minimal adjustments. Unless there is a very compelling counter reason, Dead Hands are probably going to be exceptions. Arguement 4 is true. Of course, so were Avatars. I can't say I've used one outside of the beta test, but I might be very wrong here. What have you seen? And to the general thread, 3rd edition looks awesome, I love how the cards appear to have taken cues from TOS, and I want those faction headers as wall scrolls. I am a bit concerned with the Malifaux's app's future. I use it religiously and got more than a few friends to buy the decks. What plans does Wyrd have with that regarding 3rd ed?
  3. When we reveal crew lists, do we reveal purchased upgrades and what they're attached to?
  4. Ditto, Ozz. Did you send a message to Nathan yet?
  5. Projekt, what possible time could be more appropriate for Malifaux than the witching hour?
  6. Patience, projekt. The night will come, and then the show will begin. Which is to say usually it's about 5p West Coast time, if the past betas are any indication.
  7. An interlocking, hexagonal terrain system. They're paintable, highly textured, and tend towards fantasy and natural environments. I particularly like the lava and waterfall tiles. There's 13 days to go, and they're shooting for an April 2015 fulfillment date. Take a look; https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/yetimilitiagames/hyground-3d-terrain-tiles
  8. Mine showed up on Friday, Game Room tier; everything but the hard books. Got a Children of December box.
  9. Got my Through the Breach kickstarter, but already had a Rasputina starter from the clear plastics. Anyone interested in a swap? --Edit; Trade has been completed
  10. The point of sales isn't an issue. If the box was sealed to you, then it's Wyrd's QA, and they're good about sending replacement parts.
  11. Doing some summer cleaning, and I have some Malifaux Mark 2 duplicates. If you're interested, shoot me a PM. These are just the cards, and since they can get shipped in an envelope, I'm doing it for karma. 12. I'm the guy who got the Nightmare Lord Chompy, and it arrived on time and in good condition. Gonna be fun putting that beast together.
  13. Well, it's a resurrecting, summoning, 3 AP beater that also serves as an anchor point and a teleport node. In Voltron Assembled mode, it cannot be charged, ensuring some pretty scary first strikes, but the Nephilim that upgrade fly, so they would win from terrain. In pieces it's considerably squishier, and each is an enforcer. Its death would buff the Nephilim up to three times then, and that would be a party. I would certainly still take the piece to the game, depending on the schemes. But since you're not supposed to know who you're fighting before the table is set up, I wouldn't know in time if I'm facing a Nephilim quick gro list. If you get that matchup, stick to the sides and don't be afraid to pop the pinata so Levi can discourage further attacks by killing absolutely everything. That said, I love the models and am currently hoping that monster on the front page is the M2 version, so a little biased.
  14. Well, the hooded rider is... sort of inconsistent, I suppose. The metal plates on the steed's neck are brilliantly eye catching and feel photo-realistic; like I expect to touch it and feel cold, rough steel. The rest of the model is fine, but by comparison to that focal point, they sort of fall into the background. Not saying it's bad by any stretch, just that I automatically want to look at the shiny part. The sharp contrast from one point to another is a key in what's called guiding the eye; if you want someone to look at a part, make it a bit brighter and their eyes will be drawn to it. Make it more muted, and the eye will slide off to other things. Using the hooded rider as an example, the two things that immediately register are the metal plates, and the fire in the shape of a sword. The rest of the model still is apparent in the mind, but the rider himself clicks more as a harness for the blade, while the horse is support for the metal. This can be used to great effect; say you wanted this guy to be a pair of magical artifacts generating the rest of the form. Keep those two items as defined, but make the rest of the model monochrome. Or if you want to give the horse more character than the rider, give its head contrasting colors, but make them just a bit brighter than the rest. To make the rider more character than the horse, same thing; in this case that's stuff on the hood itself. So... the technical skills on the hooded rider are good, but it doesn't lend to a coherent whole yet. Good, but could be better.
