You could always try taking a look at Mako's painting tutorials in the Wyrd Chronicles. He's sickeningly good but you might find them useful. When you've painted something post it up in the forums and people will try to offer you some advice - it's tempting to hide your work from the world sometimes but it really is worth it!

Yeah, difference is your ironing board is a nice colour. My boyfriend's Mum took to painting random hearts on some of the furniture in their kitchen, along with waxing the table in a dark sticky colour that rubs off on clothes. I don't want the hearts to counteract the tiny figures with their weaponry. Thank you very much for the complement. I'll try and take photos of the naked girly he got me for Valentines day this weekend as I'm really pleased with my work on her so far.

Interesting colour scheme for Shang, but it works. I'd love to see some better photos of the freehands.

I love the combination of the desaturated skin and the teal. It looks really good together. The more subdued teal for the hair was definitely a good choice over the green or the purple.

That's so cute! The spider looks good as well. When are you going to get her to start painting and (with her genes) putting the rest of us to shame?

I still think you're insane. It would look better without patches miraculously finishing on a fold though... Having said that I'd be dancing for joy if I could paint something looking like that.

I got Ruby for Christmas. She's going to languish in the cabinet for a very long time I suspect (probably I'll be almost ready, will see yours, and then will be discouraged by how awesome yours looks ).

I'll do a neutral background when I'm finished (or at least more finished) - this was just what I had to hand so you didn't have to see the rest of the kitchen. Think of it as a 'proof I have done painting recently' photo.

Problems with matt varnish lifting base coat - (noob question)

The other thing to check is if your paint is entirely dry - lots of people wait to varnish the next day to make sure. If it's still damp that might make it more likely to be damaged in applying the varnish? -
Awww, thanks. I'll try and get a photo of all my latest work on Sedition Wars next weekend - I haven't been able to do any more Malifaux as I'm banned from painting anything else until I've got more work done. But the paint sets that I was given for Christmas have finally arrived so I have to try them out and paint something else soon. Yay!

How long do you spend on Painting a Model.

I've only been painting Sedition Wars recently and have been managing to paint three minis in 3-4 hours. I'm finding the process distinctly painful as I'll normally be spending a bare minimum of six hours on a mini (not including the base) and normally much more than that. At the moment I'm only getting one painting session a week at most though so it's a bit hard to judge. -
That does look like it's eventually going to drive you utterly insane. But it will look so beautiful! So definitely worth it (for us at least).
