Awesome! I really like the softened transition between the red and the yellow. The join with the blue is a bit abrupt but I imagine it would look even more amazing if you'd been able to do the black patches to break it up.
They look really great all together.
As embarrassing as it is, Vaiuri, I didn't paint a dappled effect... I think that's just the dodgy prep work I did. It's nice to know that it looks somehow intentional in the photos.
Thanks Viruk. The mounted Aragorn had a better face than the standing one - half his face had melted away. Never again will I paint Finecast. It's a shame as I really like Lord of the Rings and wanted to put more of an effort into them than using them as a good testing ground for NMM. At least my NMM is now much better than it used to be.
More painting has happened! Still no Malifaux, but now that I've finally (almost) finished painting the LoTR gifts I was given several years ago I can hopefully go back to feeling guilty for not painting my dwindling supply of Malifaux minis.
Aragorn still needs basing and I'm aware his face looks awful. The effort required to save the sculpt didn't really appeal.
Not yet Paradoxstorm! I had my painting stuff with me at uni (but not my basing supplies) but since graduating they live with my boyfriend. One day I'll be able to afford to move out and live surrounded by my paints and minis... Until then I sadly have very little time to steal other people's minis and paint them.
The downside of getting friends into painting is now I no longer have an excuse to steal their stuff and paint it. And now that my boyfriend no longer plays Malifaux it gets a lot harder to justify buying more minis (I seem to have a ban on everything apart from naked girls, which he happily buys me).
Good luck with all those bases Monkeyboy! Hopefully the base inserts will be back in stock somewhere soon and you can be happy again.
Thanks! I'm still really pleased with the doppelganger. It's such an awesome mini to paint.
I'm still plugging through my various LoTR minis but then I'll hopefully be able to go back and finally finish Yan Lo's crew. I'm running out of Malifaux minis to paint!
Hmm... I need to get more painting time in. I've been painting up some LotR minis the only friend I managed to interest in mins at uni gave me and all I can say is I HATE FINECAST. I've also been trying out the Scale 75 paints I was given for Christmas (they arrived in March) and in particular trying to practice my NMM. What do you think?
I've decided that the concubine is finished, but if anyone sees anything I ought to sort out or add pleas let me know.
They look awesome all together! Those red accents manage to look coincidental (rather than "hey guys, let's all wear red! No, your hat can't be red. MY hat is red.") but bind them together beautifully, and your painting is superb as always.
