  1. I'm not entirely certain I understand the situation. Is "sloped top building" refering to the terrain being a sloped elevation? From my understanding this can play out in two ways. The first is the Executioner is hiding behind a sloped elevation and can therefor be seen by Zoraida because she is taller than said piece of terrain. The second has the Executioner hiding behind a flat elevation. My intuitive reaction to this was to say, no the Executioner can't be seen, but re reading the rules for elevations, it appears that he technically can be seen by Zoraida. This is basically because the rules for shadows are written to apply to models using the same piece of terrain. So while by the letter of the rules, I think the Executioner could be seen, but I likely wouldn't play it that way adn think this would be a prime example of something that could go in the FAQ.
  2. This is actually covered in the FAQ. Basically a model may only activate once, unless it has/gains reactivate. Abilities that specifically activate a model don't negate this.
  3. There is a distinction between flat elevations and sloped elevations. Flat cast a shadow while sloped ones do not. Anyway, I'm not sure I'm really adding anything new to the discussion, but by the letter of the rules a model that is ht 3 can see a model that is ht 2 even if there is another ht 2 model in front of of it. The only thing that would really prevent the ht 2 model from being seen is generally going to be something else that is at least ht 3.
  4. I think you're reading into something that isn't really there in the spell basics. All the first line says is "Spells require LoS to their targets unless otherwise indicated in their description." This doesn't mean that all spells have a target by default. It just states that spells still require LoS when a target is nominated. There are a few spells which can affect a model without being a pulse or aura, and have no need for a target. Lucius is the first example that springs to mind with Reinforcements.
  5. I have to agree with Ausplosions on this one. I'm pretty sure there's been a past ruling to the effect of the entire spell is completed or it fizzles. I'll see if I can find it and post a link. Edit: Ok, couldn't find the exact one I was thinking of, but this one follows the same logic about whether you can complete partial actions. http://www.wyrd-games.net/showthread.php?21723-Using-Alpha-amp-Override-Edict-to-sacrifice-enemy-models Post #7
  6. My understanding is that you would not be able to disconnect a totem without either sacrificing it or killing it. At least, not by any current interactions in the game. Edit: Beaten to it
  7. Pretty much all of the box sets from book one will have models that are worth having in them. That could be a good way to go.
  8. No, but it can cause arguments if it isn't necessarily clear what part of the model you may need to measure to. Measuring horizontally to the base clears up that particular issue that I've seen in some other games.
  9. I agree. The RM actually says to leave the soulstoned card next to the active card. I only meant that it should be placed on top once the duel is over and all the cards are discarded.
  10. To get the last card played on top, you actually need to discard them in the same order that they were flipped/used. Basically just move the stack of cards to the top of your discard pile without changing the order. The damage flips would start a new pile, yes.
  11. Basically the card that was last used is always on top. So you in your example, you start the duel with a flip with positive twists. After you flip all those cards you pick one to set your starting total, and stack the cards with that one on top. Then you cheat your card, so that card goes on top of the other three. My understanding is that the soulstoned card would go on top of the cheated card when they go into the discard simply because it was the last card used.
  12. I was just trying to clarify that for The Void that it is specifically one opponent that you nominate each turn. This only really matters if you play a game with multiple opponents though. Sorry if I wasn't clear on that.
  13. I think I need to disagree. This reads to me like the cards are not moved to the discard pile until the duel is completely resolved. So by my understanding, you would draw whatever card was on top of the discard pile before the duel started. The Void allows you to draw a card whenever the opponent you nominated that turn plays a control card.
  14. This has been covered before. It companions with the attached model. http://wyrd-games.net/forum/showthread.php?t=20295&highlight=companion+master
  15. It would help to give some tips if you gave a bit more information. What do you generally run into in a Hoffman list? Some general advice I can give is if your opponent is running a guardian or two and doing a protect chain, it can help to focus on the guardians first to keep them from evenly distributing wounds among the crew. Also, taking out the construct that is pulling Hoffman around can greatly reduce his mobility, especially if it's a peacekeeper or a warden. Hoffman can be a tough nut to crack and it would be easier to help if you gave a few more details about what you're generally up against in the Hoffman list.
  16. Damage from Pulses and Auras will only count as magical if they come from a spell, or are described as magical in the description. So some Auras and Pulses may be magical while others may not be. Hopefully that helps. If not, were there any particular Pulses and Auras that you were wondering about?
  17. Well in your example, it'd be the Doppleganger, and not Ophelia. This is because Kill Protogé requires you to select the highest soulstone minion, and Ophelia is a henchman and not a minion. As far as taking the additional soulstone cost into account, I can't see why you wouldn't.
  18. This. As long as you stay in the longest melee range, there is no disengaging strike. It's also worth noting that the melee range of the Guardian's sword is 2", while the shield is only 1". This means as long as you didn't use the shield, you could still attack the Flesh Construct.

  21. Free league open to all. No restrictions on faction or master. All players are welcome. League will run Saturdays at 6 pm from June 30th-July 21st Gauntlet games in Lincoln, Ne, at 3231 S 13th 402-420-5060
  22. I wouldn't feel foolish. Although I find the Hunter to be the model in the box that I use the least, I still use everything in that box from time to time and still manage to do fairly well. The Guardian and Watcher generally see more use, but the hunter still has a place.
  23. I must've missed that one. Can you post a link?
  24. I'm not %100, but I think in this scenario it would be option A. The rules for avatars say they replace the model, and the rules for replacing say you place the model that is replacing the original model and then remove the original from play. Since you can't complete the first step, I would assume that you can't complete the second step of removing the model and she just would not manifest that turn.
  25. 1) Nope, slow specifically affects the models current or next activation, sot it will stay until that model activates again. 2) Hoffman can tap power from a construct that has already activated, it will be slowed on its next activation. Hope that helps
