EricJ
So, I admit it, I like going to summer movies, but this year seems like a big let down overall. True I'll be seeing Iron Man 2 next month, but I don't really expect it to be better than the first. Kick Ass is also on my radar which could be good, but past that, the offerings this year seem pretty week overall...Anything out there you think to look forward to???? Flikfutch87
The Last Airbender could be cool, as I liked the original series, but damn Shyamalan's had a bad streak lately.
Chucklemonkey
Scott Pilgrim v's the world. Also Eric, do go see Kick Ass it is a very fun movie.
DangerousBeans
Kick Ass is brilliant. I wanted to go see Clash of the Titans or Alice In Wonderland but my g/f insisted on this and it was absolutely fantastic! Very funny, incredibly violent (and proper, efficient Rome-esque violence, none of this fannying about) and completely rediculous. Prince of Persia will most likely be awful, but I love the games (well aside from the newer one - peww!) so will probably go see it. When this Malifaux movie everyone's talking about coming out? Cryptkicker
Clash was disappointing... GI Joe level-disappointing... and I usually love bad movies. This one was just horrible. It is good evidence, however, that not all movies should be in 3-D. The only reason Clash was put out in 3D was because Avatar made as much money as it did. Like it or hate it, Avatar is getting a lot of studios thinking about releasing a lot more 3D movies, among other things... one of the previews I saw at Clash was for a Kenny Chesney (spelling?) concert... in 3D. "It's the next best thing to being there," the announcer said. No, the next best thing is to avoid it entirely... the closest thing to country I'll listen to is Reverend Horton Heat, which he classifies as "psycho-billy." Nathan Caroland
Clash of the Titans was visually interesting - beyond that, I didn't much care for it. I'm interested in seeing all of the above except for the Robin Hood one, which, will probably be decent, but something tells me 'gaah, no more RH'. And the trailer makes it look like a total mishmash of every other blockbuster, the trailer I saw had Saving Private Ryan style boat landings... EricJ
Most of the summer movies just don't seem that...good... I will of course see Kick Ass, and Iron Man 2 like I mentioned. Losers looks like it could be good, but most of those other trailers just don't look...good. Hell, even Death and a Funeral looks like it would be better than most of them, sadly Just overall comes across as a weak summer movie year, but hey, I'm willing to be surprised. SuicideCommando
I saw Kick Ass last night. I was really looking forward to it, but I feel undecided. The best parts didn't even involve the main character but the more-or-less side characters of Big Daddy and Hit Girl. I did like the alternate take on a super hero movie though. Sliver Chocobo
The Last Airbender could be cool, as I liked the original series, but damn Shyamalan's had a bad streak lately. Avatar is epic, but film does look bad, still going to see it(just so i can say how bad it is) Edited April 17, 2010 by Sliver Chocobo

nightgaunt98c
Hell, even Death and a Funeral looks like it would be better than most of them, sadly Death at a Funeral was hilarious...three years ago when the british version came out. I don't see any need for a remake. Everything looks almost exactly the same. It's even got the same midget in it.

Everything looks almost exactly the same. It's even got the same midget in it. Every time I see the trailer for the new version it makes me rage. I loved the original, and seeing it turned into some dumbed down American version makes me die a little inside. There was nothing in the British version that was culturally dividing or too high brow for American audiences, so wtf?
supervike
Jeez....it's too bad they couldn't find any action stars for that movie!!!!

Are you also suffering from a bout of Michael Cera puzzlement? It has almost put me off but I like all of Edgar Wright's previous stuff so will still go and see it. There's no way this hollywood knowck off will be anywhere as good as the original. Funny thing is the Dwarf is played by the same guy in the new one and the original British one. I still can't believe they're remaking a movie that came out in 2007. edit: so I should read the whole thread before replying. DangerousBeans
Well I watched Sherlock Holmes the other night, can't say I liked it although during my various drifts of boredom I nearly finished painting Mortimer so that was good. Edgar Wright's the MAN, I'm a bit nervous about him venuring out on his own though. We'll just see if he can apply his talents without Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. I like Michael Cera though, in Arrested Development anyway. Don't know if y'all know who Chris Morris is across the pond but he's got a film called "Four Lions" coming out soon and the trailer is fantastic! If you've never heard of Mr Morris before it's well worth while checking out his series "Brass Eye" and "The Day Today", both are absolutely hilarious. Also, new Doctor Who! Crappy Ikea Daleks and all! edit: I can't get the four lions video to work but it's on youtube. The Butcher
There looks like a lot of good summer movies this year. Iron Man 2 looks Awesome!!! The Losers looks great but I'm not sure if its a Summer movie. The A Team movie is full of Awesome Sauce!!! The Expendables looks cool in theory but I think it might just turn out to be a movie with tons of action stars and no substance. I wish Tron 2 was a Summer movie, December is much to far away. That's all I can think of right now.
