  1. Oooo I never thought of pushing my own stuff, that's cool. Also didn't realise the enemy had to be within 2, that's much better then. As for Aeslin... she just popped into my head as someone that likes crows! As I say, pretty rusty. Not played with Titania for well over a year now.
  2. Anyone tried proxying it yet? I don't play Explorers (Yet, Cadmus is tempting) but I love Titania, so naturally had to order a the big dino for her. It seems... meh, for 10ss, but curious what others think. Also I haven't played in AGES so I'm a bit rusty on the ol' theoryfaux. First thoughts were: - Free crows is nice, but things have to be rather near Rex to benefit, so I'm not sure how well it would work in game. Seems a waste to have him hanging around Aeslin all the time, maybe early game? - The possibility of a few attacks plus quite a lot of movement would be nice for Fae, who usually rely on slowing down the enemy rather than being maneuverable themselves. - Pushing models with tendrils could be nice for getting things into underbrush markers, but it's contending with Wild Hunt and is only once per turn. Stat 6 is good, but a bit of a gamble if that's something you're hoping to pull off. - Maybe bring in Marcus to buddy up with it? That's a lot of stones though. - DEF/WP 4 SUCKS I'll definitely use it, just because it's a big dino, but I'm not really wowed by it as I hoped I would be. At least severe 6 would be something...
  3. Yeah, they're not great. Useful for Fae but Fae generally don't have much shortage of underbrush markers. Used my waldgeists (in Fae) a couple of times and.... meh.
  4. If Molly's in a good position to summon something then Autopsies are a bit of a waste. Generally a punk zombie, crooligan or drowned will go a bit further in damage/tarpitting/scheming. However, as mentioned, they are great hires. They're cheap, have a surprisingly decent ranged attack, self heal (or provide a nice wad of poison to transfuse onto something) and have a built in ability to reactivate. Hire them with Spirit Molly and have them set up poison so your newly summoned shikome can charge. They're great mid-to-late game models and if you can get a scheme that involves dropping markers not too far up the board, you can really swamp scheme markers all over the place. Molly has plenty ways to make opponents discard or cheat cards (belles, horror, etc) so your opponent is likely going to have a tough time deciding whether cheating a flip is worth giving a bunch of your models reactivate. I rate them very highly, they do sssssssssssooooooooooo much for a 4ss minion!
  5. I would enjoy to partake in this event please, thank you.
  6. Each master has schemes that they excel at and others that they should never, ever take (although points for trying!). It really depends on your local 'meta' as to which ones you'll see used most often. To be honest, I think the schemes are fairly well balanced across the models available. Saying that, I have had a few games in fixed-master tournaments where I'm totally at a loss for schemes.
  7. If you can get hold of the 1E books, some of the fluff is wonderful. To be honest, the 2E book fluff I found pretty lacklustre, although I understand a lot of it was rushed to meet the print deadlines. It lacks the clarity of the old fluff, which for a 'character driven skirmish game' it would be nicer to have a bit more about the key players. A good ecample is not explaining how bad-ass Som'er is and how he earned his name. In 2E it's just a tacked on sentence, rather than actually being a basis for the character. I'm curious as to why they didn't just use the old fluff, but I assume it's likely for printing space since 2E has two more factions that 1E had.
  8. Most UK retailers cite the 30th of June os the 'street date' for the Som'er box (so I assume the other things too) but I'm not holding my breath. Not stopping me jumping to the front door every time I hear a noise though, I wants me Gremlins! Speaking of which, if anyone has received the Som'er box yet, I'd be much obliged to see some photos of the assembled models.
  9. I'm curious as to why Perdita wouldn't just push/get pushed out of melee range? Still, I hadn't considered this, seems like a pretty annoying tactic! Man I can't wait for plastic Gremlins! I'll be all over them like a rash.
  10. I got mine today, but didn't realise they'd only be sending out the Ronin and one Vik, kinda thought they'd just send out another box, so have sold my other set already! I assumed that Taelor and the Student were oversized too, although it was harder to tell (plus Taelor can get away with being rather large). Still, how annoying. Not wyrds fault, really, but the email was a bit ambiguous. Ah well. I suppose I could use the Ronin and proxy Vik as a witchling handler or something.
  11. It's the spine for the head the young is carrying, and a pile of gore to attach it to the base with. Think of it like a flying stand.
  12. Apologies for the crap photos! Low-light and cheap phone camera does not a pretty picture make! Anyway, here's Lils and her brood: I *love* the new young and tot models, although I'm still not a fan of the mature. Need to dig out Nekima and the shaman now but, later.... too many painted nephilim in too short a time. It got a bit boring! Next up is Ms Criid. Sonnia and especially Sam are, IMO, some of the best examples of Wyrd plastics. Awesome figs. Also, I got a spare witchling with a broken sword, if anyone's wondering. I've now ran out of crews to paint
  13. There's certain masters I wouldn't be too fussed about dying, but Lady J isn't one of them. Her various buffs make her already decent minions great, plus removing conditions is *golden*. It really does boil down to who you're facing though. As I mentioned before, she's such a great deterrent and when (if) she dies your crew lose a lot of melee potency as well as all the lovely buffs and pushes she throws out pretty much for free. The WP buff from the scales is great, but he's usually too slow to keep up with the rest of the crew, in my experience anyway.
  14. 'Pine Box' is incredible, I've used it defensively to ferry people about (as noted) or to get important models out of sticky situations they can't deal with. Offensively, it's also amazing. Works great against annoying, slippery models (Fingers *hates* death marshals!) as even taking them out for a turn can be game changing. I also use it if the opponent brings the fight to me before I'm ready. Teddy, Killjoy, Steamborgs - anything big, scary and tough - if Lady J can't deal with it, stick in in a box for later and kill it when it suits you better. Awesome ability that makes death marshals one of the best minions in the game IMO. Being able to get two attempts off the charge is just dandy.
  15. I hate the renders. Even a photo of the models built with a black wash would suffice, so we can see what we're actually buying and not what we'd ideally be buying. I hate grumping about Wyrd as Malifaux is still, IMO, BESTGAMEEVER but it's let down by small things such as renders and poor QC.
  16. Damn, he looks awesome! Makes sense that he's huge, big double-hard b****** that he is.
  17. That's awesome news! My ninja picked them up at gencon for me so I have no proof of purchase, hope this isn't going to be a problem! I can always take a photo of myself with them and a current newspaper....
  18. I'm loving Lady J at the moment. Used her in a tournament recently and came away not too badly, despite it only being my 2nd-6th games of second edition. Also, she didn't die once. Tips I learned: - Badge of Office is must-have, she's right up the front and is generally priority target #1. There are a few tricks you can do to protect her but even with 14 wounds and the ability to heal herself she's still only DEF:5. If your opponent has a melee beatstick and high cards then best be prepared for the worst! Opponents also find BoO quite infuriating, and may hold off on attacking her as they don't see the point. Doesn't help you much against crews that do lots of little damage, but her high Wd stat and healing should keep her in the game in that situation. - Last Stand is also a must. Unimpeded on something that doesn't need LoS to charge is not only useful but also hilarious. 'With Me' can be used in all manner of situations. You can pull models forward so they're primed for scheme-placing, get them into range to shoot as much as possible (or focus), block counter-charges, push them out of melee.... there is always something to gin from this ability, extra movement is always useful. Kitted out like this, I generally play her right up in my opponents face. If you're facing crews that do annoying things (such as the Brewmaster, Pandora, etc) then play her further back, use her 3AP to get scheme markers going (or removing opponent's schemes), guard your backfield (no one wants to end an activation in range of her) and use 'restore natural order' to remove all those PITA conditions annoying crews love to hand out. In terms of her crew, I'm a purist so try to stick to master-specific 'themed' crews. Luckily, Lady J's marshals are awesome. Judge- great support henchman. Mostly used to pull things (including Lady J) forward or back with 'Stand for Judgement'. Unrelenting Leader is also a must, alongside an executioner of course. When in a tight spot, he's not too shabby at hitting things either, but I tend to find more use out of him placing schemes, pushing things around or telling your front-liners to hit stuff. Death Marshals - with the extra pushes from Lady J and Judge and unimpeded these guys can be quite mobile. Relatively tough and with decent shooting means they can dish out some hurt to other minions too, or just lay in to an enemy leader with sheer volume of fire since, done correctly, they don't actually have to take move actions too often. Also, if something wither extra-scary or super-annoying is giving you headaches, just pine box it and worry about it later. Executioner - awesome front-liner which can't be ignored which takes some heat off Lady J, also a prime target for the Judge's psuedo-obey. Annoyingly, can't benefit from Lady J's 'With me!' but he's still awesome. If you can use his 'insta' death trigger to remove your opponents hand then you're also protecting Lady J, as no one wants to get into melee with her without a decent card to cheat in for fear of riposte. Scales - bit crap really. I'd generally take upgrades or more stones instead. If you can hand out those (+) twists and then chain activate whatever it was (executioner and Judge are prime targets) you'll be golden, but that requires some serious luck with flipping or spending high cards that could be better used for ripostes. Can be fun, but is often underwhelming. His 'drawing a card' ability isn't too usefull unless you're facing Lynch, as you should be eating your opponents hand with your high melee stat and executioners trigger. In short; her crew are very synergistic, remarkably mobile despite their stats. They excel at hitting things, but can play the 'scheme' game very well too. It's fun to experiment with them, try *not* hitting things and I guarantee you'll be surprised at what an effective, all round crew the Marshals are.
  19. Dude! Awesome job! I'm too nervous to paint my SDE minis as if I start I'll have to finish :S
  20. Cheers to Nathan, it's good to know this isn't just going to be swept under the rug.
  21. Now that is peculiar, I assume they're on the same sprue. Well, maybe not as I'd imagine the coffins will take up a lot of room if Miss Pack is anything to go by. Pics?
  22. Fox, I felt the same. Had seen this thread on the size issues and looking at the sprues I thought it wasn't so bad. Wasn't really until I'd built and based them that I really noticed. Of course, now it's all I notice! Been comparing them to my Yan-Lo crew, my old metals and they just about dwarf every other 30mm Ht2 model. To each their own though, if you're happy then more power to you!
  23. I don't think we can expect any replacements or anything, it must cost a fair bit to get the necessary parts tooled and cast. Some form of apology might be nice though, and perhaps an honest explanation of how they managed to get into the public hands, at full price no less. It's nice to know I'm not a lone maniac ranting about this (my local group thinks I'm mad!) but we need to be vocal about these things. As much as I love(d) Wyrd, I'll only keep supporting them if I feel they're worth supporting. I hope others feel the same. Also, I heard there as a similar issue with Kang last year, the gencon orders shipping with 'baby Kang'. Is this true and did it get rectified?
  24. This is really annoying me, actually. At first I was like, 'Yeah that's a bit crap'. But now the more I think about it the more ****ed off I am. The fact that both Viks are seemingly different scales even though they're supposed to be identical to each other is really grinding on me. We, the paying public, would have noticed this if they'd actually shown us some miniatures instead of those EXPLETIVE DELETED renders which I've had issue with since day one. Someone must have noticed this prior to production so why didn't someone think, 'Wait, this is wrong, we can't sell this', instead of shoving them in a box and selling them anyway. It feels dirty and greedy to me, with just a slight whiff of disrespect to the fans. So, in essence, it's not so much the product I'm annoyed with but more in the manner it was delivered. They've sold us something that is rather different than what was advertised and that is quite disheartening. Not getting Taelor in the box (which is do realise is a completely separate issue ) just rubs the salt in.
  25. I just finished assembling my Viks box and, yeah, the scale is well off. Annoyingly, Vik of Blood appears to be to the same scale as the other plastics, but the Vik of Ashes and Ronin are bloody huge. Can't comment on Taelor as I didn't get one in the box (emailed already). Pretty shoddy that they let this go to sale. I wouldn't mind so much if at least the Viks were the same size as each other but it's a really noticeable difference between the two. Other than the scale being completely off, they're pretty damn nice miniatures!
