  1. I'm running a tournament for the first time. Any ideas for making it fun, fair, and running it smoothly? There's a small catch. I haven't played in over a year, so I need to catch up on the rules, errata, and all that fun stuff that's likely to come up. Any rules that have changed notably in the last year or so? Any possible issues I should be prepared for? Any help is appreciated. I enjoy the game trememndously, It's just been hard to find time and opponenets lately.
  2. I'm in Charleston WV. Our FLGS is Lost Legion Games and Comics. It's posted on the map.
  3. If I have sting cards in my hand, I might hold it. But I'd rather have a chance at a good card than hold it for fear of flipping it. But then, I'm not playing in tournaments. I just play for fun. Getting the black joker is no worse , or more common than rolling a bunch of ones.
  4. I'm converting my girlfriend. She has two Malifaux crews, and she's giving Warhammer fantasy a try. That said, she hasn't actually played any games yet, so she's still a work in progress.
  5. There aren't alot of bits to convert with, and the scale is just a bit off for using alot of the other companies bits. Give it time. Hopefully they'll come out with more accesory spries, like the hats.
  6. While it's a cool contest idea, I hate the idea of signing up for a service I have zero interest in just to get in on it. An alternate method would be good.
  7. I'd say that some of that will come as you learn your crew. I play Ortegas, and while different models achieve different things in different games, they do very well as a crew. Santiago might die before doing any damage one game, but the next he might take out two or three models. But with objectives being so important, even some seemingly weak models can win the game for you. And with the ability to walk twice(three times for Perdita), I rarely have an issue with models being unrecoverably out of position.
  8. I had the willpower to not push any play buttons so far. Unfortunately, I've already heard some of these songs. Fortunately, none of them are on my truly hated list (mostly just the fairly annoying list). But I'm hoping the music in the car on the drive to work will squash out the bad songs.
  9. I just notiuced that you were talking about Gencon. I was thinking of, and talking about, Gamesday.
  10. I'm not into graphic novels, but regular ones could be good.
  11. It was an open event the year I went. It was enormous fun though.
  12. Also, bad luck with the cards can happen, but if you work on card management, it can offset that a bit. Don't cheat unless it will make a difference. If you cheat for one point of damage, it's probably not worth it, unless it's against someone really hard to damage like Perdita or Lillith.
  13. My group of players has moved away from each other through the years. We're only about an hour away from each other, but we're in three different places. And of course, we all have jobs, and one of us is in school. Finding time to play is not easy.
  14. I just finished putting together the GW daemonettes. That was the most trouble I've ever had. They have little contact points, mostly the arms, and if you move any at all while the glue sets, they ended up in the wrong position. And I'm not sure they're big enough to pin. Didn't want to ruin any of the models.
  15. Alot of people will like anything they're told to.
  16. We ususally play 25, because we're mostly still at starter box level.
  17. It looks like a solid hero movie, but I'm not excited about seeing it. OF course, my general policy is to keep excitement to a minimum about movies. It helps prevent dissapointment.
  18. It was a good article. I haven't tried both ways yet, but it seems like EricJ's methods may be a bit simpler, though both produce beautiful hair.
  19. PRetty good work. I think the shed(crypt I'm assuming), and the two graves looked particularly nice. The gingerbread house looking piece was interesting, but not one I'd use more then once in a while.
  20. Nice idea. I might have to give it a try, since I have a pack of magnets I've never got around to using.
  21. That's some fantastic painting. I for one, would love to add one of your beautiful pieces to one of my crews.
  22. That's a shame. I'd like to go to Origins, and it'd be nice to have the folks from Wyrd there doing something cool.
  23. I only tried her once, largely due to the near constant errata's on her and her crew, but I found Pandora to have an en extremely high learning curve.
  24. I'm into just about any kind of game. Paintball is another hobby. I used to play alot of sports, but not much these days. I read alot. Probably some other stuff that'll come to mind later.
