JDAntoine
Congrats, this puts Wyrd right in there with the other popular army game genre and everything TOS has looks so great allready!
phroggle
Got in there right away, but after reading over the campaign deets I'm having "buyer's remorse. Frankly the price point and lack of KS exclusives have me thinking I might be better waiting and buying it retail.
Rathnard
@phroggle There's just been an upgrade about that - KS exclusive stat cards and a free plastic (and sexy!) Fate deck as new stretch goals. Other stuff will come too I'm sure.
Popular Post Nathan Caroland
Well ... had this to say on the KS, and I'll post it here as well. I certainly don't want someone to feel remorse for supporting the KS. - We respect everyone's opinions on this Kickstarter, and we are taking as much under advisement as we can. On the note about the value for the money, we believe that there is a good value on this Kickstarter. Although some other Kickstarter projects in the past have offered amazingly incredible deals on their minis, not many of those projects end up in distribution and local retailers due to the deals. It's pretty much one and done with the Kickstarter. We believe in this product and game and intend to support it for years to come. This includes working with distributors and retailers and ensuring that there is a vibrant community around the game. We absolutely want to give everyone value for their money, and we will continue to add value as the Kickstarter goes on. However, if you feel this isn't the Kickstarter for you, we totally understand and support your decision. Thank you for your interest and consideration. We hope to see you all on the table one day soon!
retnab
I'm definitely in the camp of the Kickstarter being pretty darn good value. Even comparing the MSRP pricing to something like Warmahordes, the pricing is similar but you're getting way more unique sculpts - I was stunned when I realized that a squad of The Warped had 9 unique sculpts! The sculpt variety alone adds some pretty nice value IMO.
Popular Post Nathan Caroland
Yeah, that was a calculated decision. With more military types such as Kings Empire and Abyssinia or anything of that ilk down the road, you can get away with some likeness as, well, it's the military. You expect the folks to be wearing the same types of uniforms, weapons, etc. Same thing with monsters, more or less ... only so many types of aberrations and the like, but ... well, a monster is a monster is a monster, give or take. Then you get something like the Cult of the Burning Man, which by definition is made up of individuals, crazies, mutated rabble .. etc. Well ... they don't exactly all run around lock stepped, looking the same. I suppose we could have gotten away with tossing cloaks over them all and hoping for the best, but at the end of the day it was a bit more fun to do something a bit more interesting with them across the board, and while more expensive, I think it served the group better in the long run.
Fog
As a prospective Burning Acolyte, I am extremely excited by this. They're amazing and flavorful, and knowing that there'll be that much diversity between sculpts makes my decision easier. On the Other Side, I can understand the lack of 'excessive freebies.' Our local retailer was initially very hesitant to back this kickstarter, or even really support it locally. He's had too many situations where a game has blown up big via kickstarter and then by the time it made it to retail everyone had everything they could buy, or the game sputtered out and he was stuck sitting on a ton of product. This way, though, he'll be able to get a demo kit early, people will be able to get starters (and maybe a few extra boxes), but there'll be plenty left for retailers to provide.

Eh, I just look at it this way; if you're going to buy all this stuff on in retail anyway you may as well just donate now, you're ultimately getting it cheaper than MSRP according to the KS page.

Yeah, that looks pretty nifty, especially considering the Allegiance boxes... while they are good, they also have pretty limited models, so there's a whole lot left that can be bought/sold. Shrapnelsmile
While what I see is quite appealing, we're in need of a two starter box, one book option to support. If more than the $99 pledge is required to get any reward, i have to jump into Titans and that isn't wanted yet. Not when we cannot even easily acquire two demo forces in our pledge.

You could pledge $198 and get 2x Champion level kits ($350 MSRP btw). You get 2 Allegiance boxes and 2 rule books and save $100 not getting the titans. I wonder if there will be one on retail, or if they won't make one until maybe later

There are no plans for one at present.

I can't think of a single war game that doesn't have one; but on the other hand I don't think any of them launched with one.
Shrapnelsmile
Interesting. I don't necessarily need, however, a two-player starter set at this point. Would just love the KS to offer 2 faction boxes, 1 book for around $170. Including stretch goal bonuses such as the free commander.
Shrapnelsmile
I'm in at the Dual Commander level ... it is a good deal, and pushes the project forward early. Extra rule books can be gifted, loaned to generate interest or sold later if my friends end up stocking up on them in the community. With the rules for Titans posted, they appear to blend in with enhancing the game, not dominating them like large models in some other systems. Pretty excited, and this still has a lot of momentum for being so early in the time line. Thanks all for letting me vent a bit first. The Other Side is going to be a great addition to the scene.
