ArcticPangolin
Such a cool take on Bete, almost dream-like... Do you have any shots of the board in action? It looks really interesting but it's hard to make out what's going on with it without the context of terrain on top of it.
theshepherd
The board worked better than I expected and it's great to be able to play at home.
theshepherd
Finished Killjoy tonight. I'm happy with his skin tone and tried some tattoos with colours reversed.
Viruk
That is a brutal-looking weapon
theshepherd
Cheers, its a warhammer ogre weapon.
knghtpiper
What are the big plastic hill things? And nice minis
theshepherd
Cheers. No idea what the hills are from I picked the pair up in a charity shop.
MasterDisaster
Cheers, its a warhammer ogre weapon. To be more specific it's one of the Great Weapon variants from the Ogre Kingdoms Mournfang Cavarly Kit. Most players have them spare because they take the alternate option of Hand Weapon and Shield. It looks utterly awesome on Killjoy, nice work!
ArcticPangolin
Yeah, great weapon swap and awesome scheme on Killjoy! The purple skin and glowy eyes make him all the more sinister. Any plans for other Nephilim in the same colour scheme? Board looks good, I wasn't sure if it was a woodlands, bog or murky water. Thanks for obliging me with the in-game shots!
theshepherd
Started work on flesh construct number 3.
theshepherd
ArcticPangolin - No plans for any nephilim yet, Killjoy is currently running merc with McMourning as I can't imagine the Dr not being obsessed with a hulking undead neverborn that bursts out of corpses. The original plan for the board was muddy field, not sure it quite made it there but its close enough.
theshepherd
Finally made some painting progress. Flesh construct number 3. A bit of conversion and another attempt at tattoos. The McM crew is making progress I think some Punk zombies are next on the list.
theshepherd
Started work on the Nico box, it's going to need a bit of work before I get around to painting it but was a nice kit to put together. Tried a few little convertions on the vulture and swapped out Nico's head.
theshepherd
The Nico boys are finally finished! Great fun trying out different fabric styles on Nico and Mort. If anyone watched crystal maze in the 90s you'll probably see the inspiration for Nico. Not 100% happy with the punks flesh tone but I may be able to fix that later.
Kotep
Love the totally different take on both Nicodem and Morty!
theshepherd
Cheers, I tried to go a different way with them as there are already a couple of Nicos at the club I play at.
theshepherd
After a full day of painting I've made some more progress. This time it's Seamus and his friends. And one lonely guild model that has been pushed to the back of the painting queue repeatedly. I may go back and add some OSL to the scales of justice at some point. kmdl1066
Very nicely done. The green flames + green clothing on Scales doesn't work for me. I can't help thinking that they should be different colors. But nicely executed none the less.
theshepherd
Cheers I'd probably agree with you on that, I should go back and build the colours up on the flames so it's just a hint of green at the bottom. Looking at it now all three of the flames need some work. I'll have to see what I can do to fix it.
theshepherd
As I seem to of become a resser convert I decided to spend a bit of time making some corpse markers. Fairly simple greenstuff and a bit of blood effect.
theshepherd
Been ages since I've had any new toys to paint but hopefully that should change in the next few days when Yan Lo arrives in the post. While I not had any painting to keep me busy I've been helping out on http://abnormalifaux.blogspot.co.uk/2015/01/it-2015-technically.html a malifaux blog run by a group of people I lose games to. theshepherd
Yay! finally got some paining time in. I picked up the Yan Lo box and the students last week and I'd been slowly building them, putting off Yan Lo's beard as long as possible. In the end the beard wasn't too bad and I really like the look of the models in the set. The students were a little tougher to put together, putting the pipes and wires on plus trying to get snakeman zombie's waist lined up left my fingers covered in glue and a few choice words were mumbled. The current painting queue Managed to paint Chiaki last night. I'm trying to get rid of some lazy habits like relying on dry brushing and washing so this model was done by just working on the paint and controlling how think or thin each layer went on.
lusciousmccabe
Chiaki looks nice. Good transition on the blues and contrast with the pink. Is she based differently to the rest of your crew or are you going to be putting grass on the rest of the bases?
theshepherd
Cheers. The whole crew will have grass on the bases some more than others. I based Chiaki a bit differently from the rest of the crew as the bases wouldn't work too well with her splash/flame base section.
theshepherd
Sat down to paint Toshiro last night. I really struggled to find a good balance with the skin but after a few attempts managed to get it to a level I can live with. I may go back at some point and add some freehand or patterning to the kimono but it may have to wait until I get a bit better with brush control. Also I added a hat as how doesn't like a new hat. (its from the Lone Marshal as the Lone Marshal has Kang's hat.)
