  1. I played a few games with Candy in a Hamelin crew today and was quite happy with how she performed. I mostly wanted her for healing because I had a lot of Hard to Kill models but the range is so short on it she only healed herself but she was pretty good for tanking and locking models down with her massive engagement range so I'll definitely use her again. Kade I used as well but he was less useful because the scenario was reckoning and I was worried about him getting killed easily. He did manage to gank a witchling stalker that Hamelin pulled over with pipes while maintaining his manipulative though, and his really long charge range kept my opponent wary when moving his ranged attackers, so he did fairly alright I suppose. I don't think maxing out the availability of lost models is a priority, depending on the scenario it could be worth it just for a Crooligan or two or Candy on her own. The (0) it gives you is also pretty nice for reckoning since you can use it to sacrifice your own weakened models to deny your opponent points.
  2. Really nice job on the sword blades.
  3. I painted up some Crooligans for my Hamelin crew. Decided to try make them look like grown up versions of my Stolen. Worked more for some than others but I'm pretty happy with them. Hope you enjoy! I think my photography skills are slowly improving.
  4. I believe Lucius can only target things with Issue Command/Commanding Presence once per turn in order to make him different from other masters. Having to spread his AP around forces him into a different playstyle than other support masters. Whether you like that or not is another thing though. I haven't really found him to be that resource intensive to be honest, but it probably comes down to the lists I use him in. Most of the time I run him with a lot of chaff models that don't need cards to do stuff like moving or distracting and I often take a Lawyer or Guard Sergeants so Commanding Presence requires less cheating. Devil's Deal can give you more stones in a pinch but I usually don't spend more than one per round unless Lucius is in a tight spot. That stone is more often than not spent on Hidden Sniper with the critical strike trigger since the other one seems cool but 2-3 extra damage is usually more useful when you have a load of mooks to hoover up scheme markers anyway. Elite Training is also quite a solid buff and makes melee more card-efficient if you can use it. Kind of cooler in Neverborn, but some of his other stuff is less so, which I like.
  5. I'd say it's more resource intensive than situational. You can pull it off as long as you have the stones and cards to spend, whereas hidden weapons requires you to set it up and then have your opponent play into it.
  6. I've never actually used it but I was playing a game against the Victorias a while back and ended up fighting her in melee with 3 markers around Lucius through a combination of finish the job and randomly flipping tomes on Issue Command. Hidden Weapons would have been pretty stylish there but i'm not sure I'd bother spending the stone on the off chance that situation repeats itself. I don't think Lucius is that upgrade hungry in general though. I'd often only take him with one upgrade since everything other than hidden sniper is quite situational.
  7. Nice terrain! Is your idea for the geode thing not basically the same as severe terrain, or am I reading it wrong?
  8. I like the grey highlight on the hair, keeps with the general Frank Zappa look of the model. The texture on his hat is amazing and the coat highlights are very nice, but his scabbard looks sort of unfinished by comparison. You've got really nice definition on the metal parts as well and they're not too shiny, which I like. Does his gun have an extended stock? I have never noticed that before...
  9. I like the way you've done your brass. Is it black-lined or did you blend up from black to start?
  10. Rail workers are some of the worst proportioned models in the line. The one with two prosthetic arms looks fine but the other two really shouldn't be able to touch their sins without stooping. Has anyone else found that plastic kits with hollow parts that join down the middle are ridiculously gappy? I was putting together Ama no Zako the other day and all her pieces slotted together beautifully but there was a gap down the middle of her torso you could fit a paper clip in.
  11. Chiaki looks nice. Good transition on the blues and contrast with the pink. Is she based differently to the rest of your crew or are you going to be putting grass on the rest of the bases?
  12. So I finished these guys off, pictures are still crap. My painting skills weren't up for anything intricate on Sue's guitar so I just went for a brass and steel look, think it's alright. Bishop's face turned out to be really annoying because of his hair and the direction he's looking so I just did my best. And while I was waiting I decided to start working on something a little bit bigger.
  13. I would have gone for gold embroidery. For fabulousness.
  14. Yeah, my plastic Guild Riflemen won't fit in the infantry trays I have my metal Guild Guards in.
  15. If there are only 2 cards left in your deck and they're an ace and a 12 then the positive twist is better. I think you'd be better off focusing on the value of a positive twist with a fresh deck, otherwise it won't transfer between games and unless you're really good at counting cards you probably can't base your decisions on that anyway. I think Malal mentioned a few important considerations aside from the odds. Higher stats mean you can force an attack through if you have good cards and are willing to use them. A positive twist can allow you to cheat when you couldn't otherwise and gives you better results with a weak hand, but it doesn't increase your maximum duel total.
  16. Someone posted these Achtung Cthulu Hounds elsewhere in the Metal Gamin Proxy thread. Could work well for Void Wretchs also, although they are a bit angular.
  17. Please tell me you sculpted massive bunny ears onto your Huggy?
  18. Leopard Cerberus is amazing. I also really like what you've done with the fungus on the Waldgeists.
  19. I've only used him a couple of times but definitely felt he was over-specialised with the riflemen. He makes them way better at what they're good at but does nothing to shore up their weaknesses. Also, with Lucius I find it kind of annoying to keep some guys in a bubble way at the back since I generally take him for movement based objectives. I did run Dashel in a Henchman led game and was pleasantly surprised. Guild Guard are surprisingly nasty when everything they do is focused and with Dashel they make a good wall of bodies between the enemy and your riflemen. Since it was a small game I was also able to keep all my guardsmen close enough together so all of their buffs and companioning felt really effective.
