  1. I agree Ulix's confux isn't very god and I did try the Emissary with Ulix and I found that it has to replace one of the big pigs in a Ulix list and that effects the summoning too much. Who else would you consider taking the Emissary with?
  2. I actually like the Emissary a lot more than the effigy. He works well with 3 maybe 4 masters. I like him with Som'er, Wong and Zoraida. I can see he could work well with Mah but I haven't played enough Mah games to comment. I don't think he works with Ophelia or Ulix at all and not sure how he would do with Brewie or Zipp. The Emissary is a control piece for me and works well when you want to take advantage of the slow/paralysed he can hand out or hold points.
  3. One use I have got out of it is as a target for Wong to blast off, it is not as good for this as a stuffed piglet but works quite well as due to armor and hard to kill it can take 3 hits from Wong to kill it. If you have the cards to do it the best situation would be 2 moderate hits to get it to hard to kill and then a severe hit for maximum damage. Generally it is a solid activation and hit me can draw cards out of opponents but it is not outstanding in Gremlins. It can be good against low defense models though as then its poor Ml stat is less of an issue and the high min damage means you can get good damage off against impossible to wound and hard to wound targets. This is quite a niche situation though.
  4. For me, generally no although it can be fun to copy Jack's Noose attack if the child ever finds himself engaged. Coming from Gremlins I like having a high number of activations and having 2 ss activation who can annoy enemy models can be very useful. The child can actually cause a few problems to some models if you get the activation order right as if it walks up and engages a model after it has already activated that turn. In subsequent turns the model that is being engaged needs to either walk away which can cost cards due to the on the childs melee attack or kill the child which can be card intensive to get around the manipulative.
  5. I am usually at 7 or 8 activations in my Jack crews. To get this I take the malifaux child and 2 guilty and then add other models to taste. I like the guilty as they can be quite durable for their cost. I will pair them with a another tormented model to get around their slow movement and Jack obviously helps speed them up as well.
  6. I am really interested in this however as I don't move to near Dinnington until the week of the 27th I might miss the first week, would this be a problem?
  7. I really like the emissary and used him in most of my outcast crews last year. GG2017 does look like it has given him a buff which is good. On the destined action I actually really like it as it is a way to get 3 markers out of the emissary in one activation which can make some schemes much easier.
  8. I to have done this many times. I will now stone for cards and purposely keep a low card that can fail the WP duel. I also generally run the emissary so if I fail the WP duel without cheating I have another use for the low card.
  9. Hoping to make this, just need to make sure I am not working.
  10. It might change now that GG17 is out but for previous schemes I never needed to hire scheme runners with Ulix as that is what the summoned piglets were for. So hiring Merris was never that high priority. I really like Old Cranky with some masters but Ulix isn't one of them as Penelope just brings so much extra movement to the crew I can't justify dropping her. Between Penelope and Old Major Gracie can have a 25" threat range turn one which can be very scary for the enemy. As I have said before it is just a different play style, I don't value the warpig summoning as much as others. I think it us a bit like the grow lists in Neverborn, some people really like them whilst others think it is too much effort for the reward.
  11. The issue is that to do it turn one you have hired Merris and a piglet plus something to heal Ulix. That means you you have now spent more to enable the summoning than the cost of the warpig. If you can get it to work that is great however it just doesn't work for me.
  12. One of the reasons I take both the sow and Gracie us that for me they perform 2 different roles. Gracie tends to be used either a solo flanker who can take on pretty much whatever I need her to or as a duo with Lenny which will head towards the key piece in my opponents crew and take it out. The sow is more of a distraction piece ir guided missile. She is usually the shot in the rear target and if positioned correct can pinball through lots of the opposing crews smaller models.
  13. Cost is one of the aspects as I prefer having multiple cheap models in general. Additionally they sort of fit with sparks and as I like the models I have been trying to work out how to get the most out of them.
  14. I just stick with the Sow, major and Gracie. Typically they stay close together turn 1 and then start to spread out on turn 2. Ulix stays with old major and prods him for attacks. I always found war pigs too unreliable however with the new upgrade and I going to try one instead of the Sow in my Ulix list.
  15. Yes you do need to use obey to do it which is why it works better with 2 survivors. I generally have the survivors focus as part of their activation which makes the damage cheatable most of the time which helps make the damage go through.
  16. I really like Sparks with Zoraida, if you are going down the sparks route I would also suggest survivors as the nurse can make them very scary with the +2 dmg to melee attacks means that you can set up quite a scary gunline with a nurse and 2 survivors which is just as deadly up close as at range.
  17. As an alternative view on Ulix I don't bother with war pigs at all. I concentrate on the other big pigs and piglets. I find war pig summoning to be too much of an investment and I can distract from completing the schemes and strategies. I also don't tend to take slop haulers with Ulix so the 4 wds to summon a war pig hurts a lot. Typically I take 3 50mm based pigs in the list and summon one piglet off each for the first to turns. Doing this combined with Ulixs zero action means you can end up with 6 piglets out and all the pigs unwounded. Ulix then switches to prodding the big pigs or using shot in the rear and sooey to yoyo a big pig in and out of combat.
  18. Going to be moving to the area in the next month or so, it will be good to have a local place to play. Hopefully I will have moved in time to take part in the shifting loyalties campaign.
  19. Based off the cheated fates podcast I am going to need at least 2 of them just so I can use the ability you mentioned as it has a brilliant name.
  20. Yes Jack would be at it is why I don't tend to take the Twist and Turn upgrade on Jack when Sue is around.
  21. The two duel mechanic would be interesting especially if the duel to wound is done using the weak, moderate, severe scheme which would mean you are less sensitive to big variations in the wound duel total. This would also go someway to reducing how easy it would be to kill the titan type units. It will also be interesting to see if as models are removed from fire teams if the damage they can do is reduced either by making ti hard for them to hit, harder for them to do damage or both. This would potentially mean that rather than trying to outright destroy units you can reduce their effectiveness by removing models which would mean depending on the objectives you may want to spread your attacks to reduce the effectiveness of as many units as possible instead of trying to kill them off.
  22. I really like Raphael and use him quite often as a flanker or scheme runner. As you say he is self sufficient which is nice in gremlins and means he can do what you need him to with out dedicating resources to help him do it.
