  1. @Cpt Sandwich question for Ours do the free henchmen leaders count as their SS cost or as 10SS (like Masters) for scoring purposes?
  2. @TeddyBear is asking what happens if both crews have Ill Omens and both cheat the same card, i.e. player A flips a 7, player B flips a 10. player A cheats a 13 player B cheats a 13 My view is that you would reflip initiative as if it was a tie, however I don't think you would get to use Ill Omens again but could still stone.
  3. My preferred alpha strike with Hoffman is the Rail Golem, it takes slightly more set up but hits harder than Howard or the Peacekeeper. You need to power loop the Golem and a guardian to get him up to Ml7 with , give him nimble and make him fast which takes all of Hoffman's activation but you then get a model that is doing minimum 5 damage (6 with debt) on his locomotion attacks which will just cause anyone a headache.
  4. I did him much better as a counter pick for certain schemes. I like him if public demo is in the pool as he can quite often take out 1 or 2 of the models they chose for it. I am almost always now taking him against Gremlins as he can take out their support models with a severe usually.
  5. The Emissary is amazing with Zoraida especially as with the right set up you can paralyze 2 models a turn with it. If you are taking the Emissary I would also suggest taking Mancha as he can then very nicely auto kill the paralyzed model.
  6. If playing Hoffman I would definitely go for a power-looped nimble Rail Golem. He can easily catch up to the action is quite tanky when looped to Def6 and can get extra AP from locomotion.
  7. I have been dropping O.S.A. instead of Arcanist Assets to fit in Improved harness, there are turns I miss the extra AP but in general having access to metal gamin and the rail golem is just much more useful. I wouldn't bother with Ramos' box as the next purchase for Hoffman I would be picking up metal gamin and then a big hitter probably the peace keeper as he can also be taken with Lucius. While there is no direct synergy between Lucius and the Peacekeepr he is still an effective model that can quite happily work completely independently.
  8. I much prefer Hoffman in Symbols, giving watchers nimble or the ability to interact for a (0) means that it is very hard for an opponent to put a marker out of the way as a defense mechanism. Hoffman also likes quite tough minions so it is easier to deny punish the weak from the opponent.
  9. The bayous wont die to volatile as it is a pulse so you would have to kill them and it is still only 1 per turn due to limit on catch it. Potentially the better option would be to have Lenny toss a couple of bayous forward who then use Show Off, you will then be getting 2 of 3 damage.
  10. If you really want to go crazy with the Pigapult then your best option is probably So'mer for encouragement. You will also want to take Scion of Black Blood to remove the Concussion condition from using stuffed piglets as well. Add in Sparks for fast means that you could have a crew of 5 stuffed piglets, Pigapult, Sparks, Scion, So'mer with Encouragement, Slop Hauler and a couple of Bayous. It will let you do 2 focused shots or 4 normal shots per turn each with extra if required from Encouragement.
  11. Are there still spaces available for this event?
  12. Factions don't spook me as such however, there are certain masters that I don't enjoy playing against what ever I am using. Nicodem, Kirai and Ramos are the three masters that when I see across the other side of the table I know I am not going to have as enjoyable game. The fact that if they want to these masters don't need to interact with the opposing crew makes it frustrating to play against. At times it stops feeling like an alternate activation game as they don't need to react to anything I am doing unless I go for an alpha strike tactic and even then it doesn't necessarily force them to interact with my crew as usually they have some way of getting out of danger which I can do nothing against.
  13. Zoraida now loves Wild Boars. The key differences between the boars and other pigs are from the shadows and the ability that gives outside of their activation. Zoraida can now obey these guys to make a T1 charge and if you add McTavish to the crew he can then shoot into the combat that they charged into at Sh7. In Ulix crews they are harder to find a place for but can be fun in a non-summoning crew build. I have used one as a Ulix taxi that he can then prod to make attacks with
  14. Brewies aura isn't why you are taking him into Hoffman. yes the attendant can remove Swill which means it usually becomes target number 1. However since Binge was changed to not apply conditions you can binge Hoffman as much as you like. The Hoffman player will then have a tough choice of what effect they are.going to be hit with and if you do it a few times it will not end well. As a Hoffman player cards are very valuable as you can use almost anything and you always want certain suits so being forced to discard cards due to Binge and also to prevent obeys on a model with Numb is not going to make the Hoffman player happy.
  15. As someone who plays both, Zipp would be annoying but there are ways to reposition Hoffman without constructs near by. I would actually suggest either Zoraida to obey the big boys to hit each other or Hoffman or Brewie. Dropping Swill on to Hoffman will shut him down more effectively than Zipp will. Also Binge is a massive threat as none of the options are good for Hoffman to take.
  16. I love the effigy, the main reason I take him is for Hit Me and the fact he is a 4ss significant tough to kill minion. Yes he doesn't have reckless and isn't a Gremlin but where he shines is getting to a key area of the board turn 1 and then just putting up hit me and then dropping a marker. I find he is excellent value when doing dig their graves or similar schemes where you need to drop markers near enemies. With regards the masters he goes best with the obvious one is Brewmaster due to Swill allowing him to hit easier and the extra WP duels from Hit Me can help protect Brewie and burn even more cards from your opponent. I also like him with Mah as her Ml buff does apply to him and can occasionally allow him to hit someone, especially if you have taken the Emissary as well as you can get him up to Ml5.
  17. You can bring a nurse which can heal to full health. Sometimes the trade for paralysed is worth it especially if you have some form a condition removal.
  18. I really enjoyed the day, played 3 great opponents. My main request for next time would be to have score sheets. This could be me being slightly old fashioned but I find it much easier to have score sheets that list the deployment, strategy and schemes for each round. It makes it clearer and there is a lot less of people asking each other what the scheme!es are. I had 3 or 4 people ask me the schemes for round 2 which wasn't a major issue but did slow down the start of our 2nd game.
  19. Lazarus does work in Jack crews. You won't get much out of assimilate however if you take a Guilty, which you should because they are brilliant, you can make Laz tormented. This means that Jack can then move him around very happily and as long as Jack is near him at the start of his activation Writhing Torment should allow Laz to move to a position where he can shoot someone without using any AP.
  20. That is generally how I play Daw, however I do sometime take twist and turn and use it to copy an action usually if I am taking some of the crossroads 7 models who have some nice attacks which are limited to once per turn. What I don't bother doing is using the (0) on twist and turn as I find his (0) on his base card so much more useful. Therefore if I a copying an action with Jack I need an 8 this is not very different to obey which needs a 7 yet you don't see people complaining about how Hamelin is having to use all his high cards to obey friendly models. If you start looking at other models then yes there can be a lot of TNs in the crew however some of them you are only generally doing once or twice a game such as share guilt on a Guilty. Plus shared guilt has a trigger to draw a card so you can come out of doing that action with more cards than you started with. I will even sometimes cheat the flip on shared guilt even though it has succeeded to get the card cycling if I have a low in hand. Jack can be played as a beater or as a support piece and from my experience the trap is trying to play him as both at the same time. The other thing to remember about comparing him to our other killy masters is that Jack can ignore terrain when moving. Several times I have used this to get to a key model that my opponent thought was safely hidden behind a building only to have Jack walk once and then hit them twice with his noose to kill them. I am not saying that Jack is better at killing than the Viks as that would be wrong but he is better at killing stuff than many give him credit for.
  21. I would not bother adding anything else to start with and suggest you try out your models and work out what roles you are struggling to fill. From the models you have at the moment you can make a 50ss crew. I would concentrate on using the slop haulers to attack with to start as they can lower models defences which makes it easier form your other models to hit. You will be playing a very Lilly crew but you have a lot of activations thanks to the young lacroix and models like Raphael who can run schemes for you.
  22. I don't see what you mean by all the TNs. Usually when I am playing Jack the only action I use nearly every activation which has a TN is his 0 on his card. Most of the support from Jack I find is from Writhing Torment and then he usually concentrates on putting curses on people at range.
