  1. Thanks for the link. Those models are amazing! I'd seen one or two of them around before. As far as my Steamborg, so far the only mod I've made is magnetizing his torso and base so that I can store his arachnid half in the pluck while storing his torso in a regular tray slot. Made it so I only needed to make the same amount of space in the pluck that I had to use for each of the Large Steampunk Arachnids and each of the Soulstone Miners. But it'll allow me to mod up other torsos to try out on the lower half.
  2. Thank you everybody. As I was driving home from work tonight, I was thinking of putting the Dreamer casting a Chompy shadow and vice versa. Sounds fun. Might be the route I take once they release them, too. Probably will. I've been on a magnetizing kick lately. So much so that I'll probably have to buy another variety pack of rare earth magnets.
  3. By all means, do, on one condition: Post the results on this thread? That and maybe add in any tips or tricks for making it more realistic and / or any snags you run into along the way. Do you happen to have a link to that? It sounds awesome.
  4. I think I've derailed this train quite enough. Going to post my mock-up(s) to another thread: http://wyrd-games.net/forum/showthread.php?p=345146#post345146
  5. Previous thread that started this all: http://wyrd-games.net/forum/showthread.php?p=345134#post345134 As stated over on the other thread, here's where I'll be posting my mock-ups (and eventually finished products) of using Puppet Wars Teddies to proxy the regular Teddies (using regular stat cards and the appropriate 50mm bases). Here's the first quick, crude mock-up using Nightmare Edition Teddy's shadow (illuminated by a Breadcrab Ghetto Jug Porn Studio™): I do plan on buying and / or making a decent wall for my bases, but until I get a few mock-ups done to see the size I'll need, this will have to suffice. Second quick, crude mock-up, using regular Teddy's shadow:
  6. Touche! Thanks. I'd just poked out the hole the farthest forward on the 50mm base, to give plenty of room to cast such a tall shadow, and placed a Puppet Teddy in it. Decided to look for a pre-made wall online before I resort to trying to craft one here at home. I think I'll still craft a makeshift one to snap off a quick pic of my idea... Hmm, do I want to just do a shadow outline of the Puppet at or around Ht 3? Or go with a silhouette of regular Teddy? Or go with a silhouette of Nightmare Teddy? [As I do have a total of 6 actual Teddy stat cards (one from my first Teddy, five from my GenCon order) and one for Nightmare Teddy, they'd be perfectly legal Wyrd proxies.]
  7. Or better yet, whose initials / name is on your packing slip? Mine was BW. Maybe only a few Wyrd employees give out the Miss Demeanors. I believe I can currently say that I own all of the Wyrd Limited / Nightmare Edition models. It'll be funny using the five pack of Puppet Wars Teddies on 50mm bases as actual Teddies in a Dreamer crew, especially with a Weaver Widow. Sure doesn't look height 3. Maybe I could base them with a Ht 3 wall behind them with their shadow on it at that height. Where are you going? It's just a doll...*splorch*
  8. That's specifically why I'd asked. It sounded right, but I hadn't found the Rules Manual wording for it. As far as Obey / Instinctive Behavior, thank you. Also thanks for the extra possibilities for Alpha. I'll be sure to mention that to our Marcus player...And make sure that people who are shopping for me for the holidays know that Marcus is on my list of wants. I've been wanting to get him just to go with a paint scheme I saw on an Absolut ad, but the more I read about him, the better I'm liking him.
  9. Didn't receive a Miss Demeanor with my Black Friday order, and Chompy alone put it to the hundred dollar mark that netted me one during GenCon. The box they shipped my order in was tiny, but there was still room to stick one in there if I met whatever eligibility requirement. So, don't think that sheer dollar amounts are the key. Go with either completely random, purchase of a female stat card, or some other theory. Anyone who received one lately, was it your first order from Wyrd, by chance? I'd certainly consider that a fun way to keep new players coming back for more. I ordered a few stat cards and they gave me a limited edition alternate Convict Gunslinger. Wyrd rocks!
  10. Thank you. And is Instinctive Behavior going to be on the broadcast too?
  11. I'm thinking all of the lowercase henchmen, like the Judge, Samael, Mortimer, Sebastian, Misaki, etc., should all be upgraded to uppercase Henchmen. That's another part of why I don't think it'll be just a model here and there that gets upgraded, but any eligible models, as a template. Assuming it hasn't been dropped as an option, book 1's Ronin shows us Drifter, in which they cannot be upgraded to Henchmen. Hmmm, curious. We didn't even know what a Henchman was yet. Just the vague not yet like they also gave us for avatars.
  12. Nekima, obviously. It's not so much that her playstyle cramps Lilith's, it's that she was made to support the effective, albeit single-minded, Grow list. With her leading the tots and such, Lilith would be free to run all kinds of lists, especially those capitalizing on her avatar abilities. Convincing cases for Coppelius and Tuco. I'm still betting that Coppelius is Lucius, so making him a henchman would be a bit of overkill. On a side note, now that we've got Tuco as the anti-family Neverborn, are we going to be seeing an anti-kin LaCroix Gremlin taking his role, as well?
  13. Just keep in mind the restriction to only one special forces type at a time. [If you call three crews an addiction, what do you call the ten I have?]
  14. Was reading through Avatar Marcus again and had a couple of questions pop out at me. I'm not sure if they've been answered on another thread yet, or not. If so, please point me in the right direction, thanks. Manifesting vs Jackalope Due to the Jackalope's Ability of Multiply (from book one, since I don't see a v2 version on the pdf), it'll still be able to return to play at some point later, right? The wording in the book is: Multiply: When a non-Jackalope Beast is killed or sacrificed, before it is removed from play, you may push this model into base contact with the Beast. If this model was previously removed from play and is currently not in play, you may summon it to the Beast before that beast is removed from play. As other avatars, such as Colette and the Dreamer can still summon new copies of their totems after manifesting, and Leveticus still gets his Waifs, pseudo-totems that they are, I'd say the Jackalope still gets to come back. That is, if anyone even plays with it. Only one of our local players even has Marcus, so I've yet to even see him in action. Second question, regarding Instinctive Behavior. It reads: (1) Instinctive Behavior Target non-Master model with the Beast Characteristic receives +0/+2 Wk/Cg, -2 Df, and its melee Attack and Damage Flips receive until the start of the Start Closing Phase. Target then immediately performs a (1) Action or a Charge controlled by this model's Controller. The Action selected may not cause the model to be killed or sacrificed as part of the Action. This spell may be cast only once per activation by this model. Now, this isn't quite the same as chess where your King cannot move into check, and there are a quite a few situations that will cause a model to be killed or sacrificed due to a (1) Action or a Charge indirectly. It doesn't preclude any of those circumstances from happening, correct? Just a few examples: I have any ol' non-Master model that has the Beast Characteristic, or that Marcus has given the Beast Characteristic to, while low on wounds perform a melee attack / charge on a model with Black Blood, it's still going to die from those wounds. Same goes for any other defensive damage or wound ability. If we use a model like Desolation Engine with only one wound left, that due to Unstable Creation suffers 1 Wd when it performs any Action Costing 1 AP or more other than Pass. It'll die. Examples like this are perfectly fine, as we're not killing or sacking the model as part of the cost of the action, right? But with, say, the Hollow Waif's version of Magical Extension, (*) Empty Being, in which it can Cast one of Leveticus' spells. This model may use a Soulstone to change its starting total when casting this spell. Sacrifice this model, we cannot do it because it would directly kill or sacrifice it, correct? Those were just some examples that came to mind. I'm sure there are countless others.
  15. Agreed. I still haven't attached it to mine as I'm still not convinced that I'm done painting her.
  16. Maybe ask the guys at paintedfigs.com how they did their wood effects? http://a6.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/300583_10150359497183585_105483868584_8462353_1727662744_n.jpg
  17. Nice paint scheme, and fun basing for them.
  18. Looks good. Keep up the good work and don't be so hard on yourself. Painting just takes confidence. My gf had never painted a mini, was worried about it, finally started painting the canine remains for her McMourning crew, and did an amazing job. She moved from the dogs up to the nurses, flesh construct, McMourning himself, and Sebastian. That's usually all it takes to get good with painting. Start small, with the easier models, then move up to the masters and other stars of the show.
  19. Sure, I could do that, but I think I'd rather just resummon whichever one happens to get killed during the encounter, as the spell can only be cast once. Regardless, it still makes for one really expensive crew.
  20. I'd be content with just having Malifaux be available as an online version of the tabletop game. Every time I look at World Works Games original TerrainLinx, it looks like a screen shot instead of terrain.
  21. So now we need a silurid and a piglet on team Muppets? "STAY AWAY FROM MY KERMIE!!!"
  22. Was already ahead of you on that. My girl power / flannel brigade Vikies crew tends to own the table. Miss Demeanor was just icing on the cake. It was all part of of adopting the K.I.S.S. approach for demo purposes. Keep the models simple so that people can actually focus on and learn the game. Outcasts Crew - 35 - Scrap Viktoria -- 4 Pool Miss Demeanor [5ss] Female Desperate Mercenary [2ss] Female Desperate Mercenary [2ss] Misaki [7ss] Ronin [5ss] Ronin [5ss] Ronin [5ss] I tend to leave my Male D. Mercs as food for Lilith's Grow list. Before I picked up Misaki, Taelor had her fair share of time in the list. Too bad Misaki's going to be getting Ten Thunders Brothers instead of Sisters. I'd have started playing Misaki sooner, but the model I'd picked up at an LGS was miscast, missing a foot. P.s. I was fortunate enough to get my Miss Pack in a Nicodem crew box. I think my buddy got her with his wife's Kirai crew.
  23. Nice guess, but they look like regular ol' frogs to me. So just how many Gupps are there supposed to be per model? The Spawn Mother is on a 50mm base, regular Silurids are only on 30mms, and they're supposed to be mature. The Gupps are listed as a 40mm base, even though they're the babies. Also, any idea if the Spawn Mother will be released in a small box with 4 Gupps, or is she going to come in a clamshell with one (as it's included in her ss cost) and the other 3 (of the rare 4) sold in a separate clamshell?
  24. I also prefer the classic Pandora avatar sculpt. I'd rather see the tendrils of energy than the sewer calamari. So far none of the avatar stat cards are available separate from the avatar models themselves. As they take two cards (one for the requirements and new stats and one for the spells and abilities), they'd likely cost a dollar instead of just $0.50. I think they're holding out on them so we don't just buy the stat cards and mod our own avatars. *shrugs* It's okay to mod our other models, as long as they are our own original sculpts or less than whatever percentage of non-Wyrd product, but not so with the avatars so far. Maybe after they've all been released, we'll get to see them on the store. As long as we're not participating in official Wyrd tournaments and our LGS is cool with proxies, just printing out the stats from the book still seems the way to go for now. People here on the forums post all kinds of bat reps with lists including Lazarus, who isn't likely to be released until nearly GenCon, if Ashes and Dust was any indicator of release schedules. What I'm hoping for, though, is another round of avatars for the current masters, hopefully in book 5. The phrasing on the attaching an avatar to a master makes it sound like there will be more of them, what, with declare which master(s) that you have attached an avatar to, but not which avatar. So far I only like a few of the current avatars. Some, while nice, completely change the play style of the master, making their old lists obsolete. These, like Levi, are a bit of a slap in the wallet. Ashes and Dust was finally released for him, yet in a four horseman list for his avatar, there really isn't room for it. Instead, Levi could wind up having the most expensive crew with the fewest number of starting models in it. Outcasts Crew - 40 - Scrap Leveticus, Steampunk Necromancer -- 3 Pool + Leveticus, Avatar of Entropy [2ss] Dead Rider [10ss] Hooded Rider [8ss] Mechanical Rider [8ss] Pale Rider [9ss] plus two Hollow Waifs That's five small boxes, a master, his pseudo-totems, and most likely we'd still need to have Steampunk Abominations and a Desolation on hand in case we manage to summon some of them.
