  1. Dheneb Stone with a purple wash then more Dheneb stone over that. Then 50/50 DS/white highlights.
  2. Well they don't look too bad for a beginner. Considering the difficulty of painting these kinds of minis when starting, you did pretty good. Obviously as you said, thin your paints. Also take it slow. It's hard not to get excited as a character is nearly finished, but your results will be much better if you take your time and paint in layers and pick out the details. Painting is not easy. And these are definitely not easy models to paint. Keep working, you'll get better quickly.
  3. I have Miss Terious and the Rail Crew. I've got a good variety of heads and most seem pretty much standard.
  4. I don't think there will be too big of a deal. Look at GW figures with bare heads, particularly the daemonettes of slaanesh. They have tiny little heads that still stand out enough as part of the model and are very noticeable after being painted.
  5. Hair larger than 5x5mm height and width. It is, however, solidly attached to one of the hands without gluing, so you may have to either simply greenstuff and extend it, or do a LOT of cutting. The arms should be posable enough to allow you to move the angle a bit though if you choose cutting.
  6. You don't need to have instructions to know which piece goes with which. Each piece has a letter above it corresponding to the other pieces of that figure.
  7. Compared to this Kabalite Warrior sprue that's been lying on my floor for the past few months... First thing I noticed was the fact that Wyrd plastic is MUCH more flexible. It doesn't feel brittle at all. Wyrd's are a lot shinier, and seem to be a little heavier almost, this could be the thicker bases though. Comparing two unprimed models, my daemonette seems a little more crisp than Mei when it comes to detail, but even compared to my other GW models the Wyrd plastics feel a bit "fuller" (I really can't think of any other word to describe the idea, you really have to see for yourself). Little details are more numerous, but they aren't dug out quite as deep or raised quite as high compared to GW models. The most prominent spot I noticed this was hair, but also effects other bits. Overall sharpness seems about the same, and the Wyrd plastic just feels like it's much higher quality than the GW stuff. (I mean the plastic itself, not the designs. Wyrd's characters knock GW outta the park design wise). I decided to see how strong the plastic was and pulled on both ends of the empty Rail Golem sprue and the bottom frame pulled right off. It didn't stretch or bend or snap, it literally just pulled apart. This took considerable force, and compared to an empty GW sprue it held up MUCH better. The break was clean, but even then I doubt you could pull one of the models apart at anything but the seams. The Wyrd plastic almost feels like it's normally used for something that would act as a container or tool, rather than models. The biggest suggestion I have for Wyrd is to try and make details a little more pronounced. Some of them are just a bit too small, and I worry about them getting lost when it comes time to painting.
  8. A lotta little details do show up, but the models themselves (rightfully so) are pretty soft. The best example of hard, crisp edges, would be the emberling. The railcrew models feel very organic. All of them are pretty much humanoid, but the more synthetic bits, like the extra arms and bits for the workers, are fairly well detailed. One thing I noticed is some of the detail will EASILY disappear with a coat of paint, though. The detail, in some cases, is so extremely fine, like in Mei's hair, that it is hardly visible. I think this comes from the move from slightly cartoony, and buldgy sculpting, to more darker, serious computer design, however. There is a TON of detail, but don't expect it to have the same "rough" texture that the metal seems to get. Smooth spots are very smooth, and the rail crew models themselves are fairly organic. Another small gripe is the placement of the sprue, in some cases, it kinda has a chance to ruin detail. I understand though, since it was either designed by Wyrd, who are new to plastics and, or designed by some engineer looking to get the most efficient flow for the plastic, etc. Edit: Another thing I noticed- Mei's armpit/side sorta blends into her tank top. It's a little hard to discern where the shirt begins and flesh ends. This is only on her left side. For the few negatives, I still think these are great models, and with a little time, Wyrd could easily be putting out stuff of higher quality than that other workshop for games out there.
  9. It's definitely a nice touch. It looks a little two dimensional, but it frames her nicely, and is separate from her foot, so in theory, if you didn't like it, you could just have her in a regular "kung fu" pose.
  10. As requested here are a few pics of the rail crew I got in the mail today to tide over the pour would waiting for their own. A few notes on the models themselves- They are wonderful. Hands down, I love them. The plastic feels great! Putting the Rail Golem together was a little painful, mainly just the arms, they were a bit fidgety to pose and stick on, but the end result is nice. Mei Feng has a little issue with a gap on her left arm, nothing too big though. Put the Emberlings tongue in BEFORE you glue the top half of it's head on... Save yourself the pain!!! Take your time clipping things off the sprues! Lots of little details. The back of the big sprues are labeled with A1, A2, B1, B2, etc. corresponding to parts on a particular model. Sorry for the quality, quick snaps with my lumia. http://i.imgur.com/RFSsC.jpg http://i.imgur.com/mJFcX.jpg http://i.imgur.com/i15x3.jpg
  11. I think it has to do with going from plastic to metal. A lot of space can be saved or squished down because they aren't being sculpted by hand. It's most likely coming closer to a true 28mm scale. Look at standard GW plastic infantry like kabalites or guardsmen. Even compared to my mannequins they seem much less menacing.
  12. I'm very impressed at the subtle shading on the robe. The model itself is very clean and the basing is really cool. I think it looks great!
  13. I've had the base problem too, only it was with Rasputina's box. Think of how hard it must be keeping track of all that in all the boxes though... I suggest just contacting Wyrd, they will most likely help you out after all this GenCon madness wears off.
  14. Bit disappointed in the lack of options on the Rail Golem, but it still looks rather nice!
  15. These are wonderful! Thanks a ton for the pictures!
