Marcalla
Hey gang. The Death Marshal's Pine Box action calls for the DM to succeed in an opposed Wp duel vs thetarget at the beginning of the DM's activation. So who is attacker and the defender for this duel? 0 Adran
I believe the death Marshall is the attacker
0 edonil
I would say the Death Marshal is the attacker.
0 Soundwave
Hmm. Good question. Sounds like it should be the Death Marshal, but I can't really find anything to support one claim or the other.
0 Dracomax
Ruleswise, since the DM is the active model, I think they are the attacker. However, thematically, since it represents the "boxed" model trying to force their way out of the coffin, it would make sense for the buried model to be the attacker. 0 Marcalla
@Dracomax That was the quandary I was in. After doing some reading on duels it seems the DM being the "active" model would make him the attacker. Though it feels like the target trying to bust out should be the attacking model. 0 Rathnard
Yeah, but the Death Marshall totally started it.
0 Marcalla
Yeah, but the Death Marshall totally started it. Yeah, she was like "your totally stuck in my box" spreadin it around all over her guild mwitter feed and Malibook page.
0 Dracomax
Yeah, it is yet another example of where the rules, of which this is an improvement--no more trying to figure out on every single action exactly who is the attacker--don't necessarily correlate to the fluff. It's better to have consistent, easy to adjucate rules, but that doesn't mean there isn't a trade-off.
0 daemonkin
But look at as the DM trying to keep the boxed model in D.
0 Ausplosions
I am always thought it was the DM trying to keep the Boxed model in, rather than the boxed model attacking the DM. I put you in a room, and hold the door shut so you can't open it. You try to get out. Who is the aggressor?
0 daemonkin
Clearly the person trying to get out. the Death Marshal is just trying to keep them, y'know, safe. /kidding D.
0 Dracomax
I am always thought it was the DM trying to keep the Boxed model in, rather than the boxed model attacking the DM. I put you in a room, and hold the door shut so you can't open it. You try to get out. Who is the aggressor? Well, the person being active is the one trying to get out. All you have to is hold it. I have to actually fight to get the door open at that point. All of which is irrelevant, because the rules say that the DM is the attacking model. 0 Ausplosions
Are you saying that keeping a door shut on someone is not 'active'. Or a direct 'attack' on your freedom. You're right though, the rules say it is the DM. But fluff/reasoning was brought into it.. Meh.
0 daemonkin
I read the rule that 'this model' refers to the Death Marshal's activation rather than the trapped model. D.
0 Mister Shine
This fluff argument all sort of assumes that "defending" is passive. But in any fight Ive ever seen both people are active, its just about who started it: and cramming someone into a horrible void is probably starting it.
