GsTree
from what ive read on here and in the books, cars arnt a thing "Malifaux" side of the breach, yet a lot people model their gaming terrain with roads and pavements. my question is why do we do this? and what can we put in its place to add space in a city table? Finnegan
Carts, carriages, giant mechanical abominations... Giant mechanical carriage-cart abominations.
Shadowopal
What Finnegan said. There is actually a fluff piece in Book 2, I believe, where Collette is kidnapped by a Mechanical Horse pulled carriage. That's about as close to a car as we've seen in the fluff. But, I would assume roads and paving would make that ride a lot smoother too.

GsTree
good point! though is it worth differentiating between pavement and road?
Mr. Bigglesworth
Asphalt/m modern paves roads were already in existence at time of the breach. So your choice. Brick/cement roads were really starting to take off in the early 20th century.
rancor709
Paved roads are nothing new it could be argued they were simply a rediscovery. Also remember not much is know of the ancient inhabitants of malifaux and there technology could be as close or as far from our modern world as your imagination. notmikehill
I don't know whether to thank you or hate you... He's the hero Wyrd-forums deserves! But aside from the whole road debate, consider the following: This is set in an alternate timeline where we find a magic fueled land to what I assume to be a parallel dimension to ours. This becomes the next gold rush in the disjointed timeline. Machines are being sent day in and out and time seems to pass at a slower rate in Malifaux, giving reason to believe that we might have caught up technologicially with some facets of mass manufacturing that may have taken 30+ years to develop. One of which could be roads. /end rant
Omenbringer
Roads (paved or otherwise) predated the Victorian age (period closest to Malifaux Alt-Earth timeline) by a good bit (and cars by a great deal more). Here is the Wiki entry for Roman Roads, many of which (especially those that were Viae publicae, consulares, praetoriae and militares) where very well maintained and paved with a type of concrete. Many of these roadways are still in existance in several parts of Europe and many have also formed the foundation of our modern roadways.
