  1. Some of the biggest ones I can think of when I've been to tournaments is as follows: Use the bathroom before the match starts Don't be afraid to ask questions about the event or seeing opponent stat cards, also don't be afraid to ask for a TO if you and your opponent can't resolve a rule issue Find time somewhere between matches to eat. You won't realize how hunger can mess with your play! Bring your own tokens/scheme markers so you and your opponent won't confuse schemes.(I use Relic Knight's kickstarter tokens for my scheme/AOE markers personally) Also going with the mindset that tournaments are a fun yet competitive way to guarantee an afternoon of matches. Don't make it about winning, make fun your priority. Side note, if you're proxying, give your opponent a run down of what you may be using as a stand in for another model.

  3. Going to have to agree with you on this one. Also, a spanish space game company stole a vast majority of my player base too. (myself included for a time) Let's just say it's rhymes with "Smervus Smelli"
  4. That's a very good observation, Omenbringer. I've been reading over some of the changes in the game and some I really like and others I find a bit odd. I like the general idea of an upgrade system, it sort of allows you to (in my eyes) create a "diet" malifaux experience which makes jumping in a little less complex. When complexity can be added, I could see MORE upgrades being made available at certain point thresholds, specific scenarios, etc. Sacrificing complexity for simplicity has been one of the bigger gripes I've heard from some of the eldest of malifaux players I've played with. (remember Levi V1/V2/V3 cards, anyone?)
  5. I was one of the few players who ditched out when it jumped from 1.5 to M2E. I remember when 10 Thunders came out and I thought to myself "Great, now there's going to be plastic resculpts of the pewter resculpts of the original box masters!" I actually wasn't expecting a complete overhaul of the rules and game. I remember seeing all the different waves of cards coming out for beta testing and I just couldn't keep up. I sold a big chunk of my Malifaux collection just because I hadn't the interest or drive to continue playing like I used to, especially with the constant flux from the rules. Up until recently I've been bit by the Malifaux bug again. Seeing the final rules for the game and how the game is more accomidating to new players has peaked my hopes for a stronger Malifaux community overall. With the re-release of everything in plastic, I can easily point players to great starting points for a faction or playstyle (or even dual faction boxes for some harder to pin down types), whereas with everything before a lot of the rules were very convoluted to the casual player.
  6. I tried emailing the Henchmen Email on the website about my previous Henchmen status at office.vcen@wyrd-games.net and the email bounced back to me. Is there an alternate email I should be sending this to?
  7. Showcase is my FLGS! Have we played each other before? I used to be the Henchman there before the beta testing began. I may pick the mantle back up if player interest is there!
  8. I've been getting in contact with some old players and I'm trying to get things shaking back at my old FLGS so if you'd like to meet around there shoot me a PM! Or if you have a spot in particular I'm down to meet you there as well!
  9. Where is this spot in Voorhees? I wouldn't mind driving over and seeing what you guys carry at some point!
  10. Delaware wouldn't be a stretch for me either. I'm in the 19070 myself. Perhaps we could all converge? Showcase Comics did have some figures there, but there were a few only a few of the newer starter sets. I'd have to buy new stuff fresh out of M2E
  11. I know your pain, trust me! There's a spot in University City called Red Cap's Corner. I'd been there before for other games, but hadn't seen any Malifaux merch sadly!
  12. The title pretty much sums it up! Anybody still playing the game in the Philadelphia area? I've been out of the game for so long and I don't think I have any M2E information so I'd like to see how it's played or if there's a gaming group that's still playing or running events.
  13. Just want to bump this up to the front page! I hope to see everyone Sunday!
  14. I honestly don't understand the whining here. If you don't want things to change, participate in playtests and offer up valid opinions. Seeing as how a good fraction of you in this thread are the players who seem to have the most posting time, just offer up some time to playtest and change things the way you want them to change. If a rework of the rules are coming, you'll know that you helped better the game you seem to care so much about rather than complaining about it. If you want book one models to have an increase in power. Do so during the playtesting if/when it comes. As for going back on topic, I think that we won't see anything too crazy of an overhaul of the rules system. Perhaps they'll just spruce up a lot of the cards abilities that are the same, but worded differently (Like Harmless/Irresistable) and clean up the language on the abilities to make the game easier to understand and have less of an issue with determining rules.
  15. Most of the time you have to remember that players will fluxuate often. I had an upwards of 15 players in my LGS area and now I'm down to about 3. Winter months can be stagnant, just keep playing and be consistant. If you flip them, they will come.
  16. I don't think they'll get a TT master. They already have two henchmen, which is considered a leg up in terms of master count than most factions. You'll probably see more of the same figures in the line with maybe some variations to the already present model types.
  17. Yes you can. You reflip the starting duel total using a soulstone. You're not cheating fate, as it is a reflip.
  18. He's the hero Wyrd-forums deserves! But aside from the whole road debate, consider the following: This is set in an alternate timeline where we find a magic fueled land to what I assume to be a parallel dimension to ours. This becomes the next gold rush in the disjointed timeline. Machines are being sent day in and out and time seems to pass at a slower rate in Malifaux, giving reason to believe that we might have caught up technologicially with some facets of mass manufacturing that may have taken 30+ years to develop. One of which could be roads. /end rant
  19. @ooshawn Have you played against a Rail Golem yet? Or Kaeris with a Rail Golem? They're pretty horrifying.
  20. haha well it's a very useful model and brings a really nice beatstick to the resser's table with a reposte trigger. He's definitely viable. But people in my meta will take him without realizing what ototo can do to objects haha!
  21. Hi and welcome to Malifaux! Zoraida's Voodoo doll's two abilities can be best summed up as follows: Conduit: Requires LoS, no range and can only be an enemy model. Reconnect: Requires LoS, has Rg:10 and no resist and you gain the conduit ability with target model.
  22. We know for a fact that Hannah is a Freikorp special model in book 5. What if book 5 is a new henchmen book and they're waiting on Nekima's revision because she'll be Special Forces (Nephilim)?
  23. Ototo has done nothing but impress me against ressers. More specifically because it's the flavor of the month to bring Izamu. That spell that gives him extra damage to objects and keeping him from being moved at all is something fierce when you're engaging, I'd recommend at least trying him out!
