Nix didn't play in any of the qualifiers? That is surprising.

There is a long story about that one. Bill volunteered to lock up the room Friday night and when he went to do so it was discovered that the door was bust and would not lock. So he stayed up till 5 or 6 AM while maintenance basically rebuilt the door and fixed it. So he was in no shape to play Saturday.

*blink* and that didn't win the best sportsmanship award?! That is dedication to the good of the Hobby.

Don't say things like that, Bill already has an Ego the size of Texas :)

It was very appreciated, it was just one of the many things I am thankful for at the con.

thanks to all those involved in running the events, and all my opponents for the great games! I would suggest a few format changes for next year:

• make the doubles event 4 games, with longer time slots. This event was awesome fun, just too short.

• skip the 2 qualifier / finals format, and just have an all day 4-5 game tourney. I don't think there are enough players to justify the need for separate events.

thanks again!

Matt

Ill second that doubles should be 4 rounds with 3hr limits. The events as a whole were awesome i liked the masters format up until the finals as single elmination can lead to empty torphy handouts were no one sees. But it was something different.

Yeah rethinking Masters and finals for next year. Was worth a try to see what happened.

Would teams really be down for 15 hours of a Team Tournament? Assuming 2 one hour meal breaks, one half hour and a half hour results buffer. We would have to start Registration at 8 AM to be done by midnight. I may have to send some surveys out this week and find out.

I thought the win-or-go-home format was really awesome. Of course I may have thought differently if my day ended round 1 *wink*

It was a neat format. I got my pick up game with nix in because of the format. However the winner and runner up and awards would have been better if all 8 of us had stayed and easiest way to ensure that is keep people playing.

No opinion on the team tourney as we did not participate.

I would chime in here, as I did to you Sunday, that we loved the separation of qualifier from finals as 3 rounds instead of 4 made for a very relaxing tournament that also made it easy to be in the story event later that night with a nice 3 hour break between. Four rounds always feels very draining, but I understand that other people might like that grind.

That does seem like a long day, now that you add it up... I would do it, but I'm hardcore!

No excuse. I was the one who was playing bill and I still got up an hour later, played a blood bowl tourney and then went straight to story encounters. I was a zombie, but it worked out well in the end ;). But then again Bill is older than us and needs his beauty sleep.

It would have been a VERY different story ;-) No matter how you cut it, that game really tested my mettle, win or lose, and will stand out for many games to come :-)

Had a great time. Played in Cake, Team, and one qualifier. I do think the team tourney could use longer rounds, and I think we would be up for 4 games.

Everything ran well, everyone I played was great. I was happy I got to play against Nix in the team tourney.

I would like to see the master also be a one day thing, and bring back the Brawl tourney from last year, that was fun.

Also don't forget Avater Pandora popped up and beat chompy in one of the masters games.

I wasn't at Adepticon this year but heard nothing but wonderful things from my friends who attended.

I do plan on going next year come Hell or high water so for whatever it is worth I'm also in favor of 3 round qualifiers. It makes for a more relaxed event and allows players to go check out other parts of the con.

There will be a lot of planning on next year.

Team tournament rounds will be longer, but not sure if we will do 4 rounds

The Masters will most likely be a one day event

There may be a multiple day, long play event going(tentative name is "Turn 6 tournament). Sorta a hybrid between an open play event and tournament. Over the weekend you will have to play 3 games and each round you will have a list of players you can play against(with similar scores). But you will have the choice to fit in a 3 hour block for a game throughout the con(like from 9 AM to midnight Friday and Saturday, 9 to 3 on Sunday)

We may not run organized play late into the night(except the Turn 6). The goal is to wrap up any events before 10 and just have open play at night. That way event organizers can get some open play in and/or sleep a little more. This may change depending on what people are willing to volunteer for.

And Saturday night there will be a 3 hour block around 6 PM so that the volunteers can all go out for a meal together.

Of course this is Dan's plan in April 2012, what happens in April 2013 may turn out to be very different.

I'd really like a two day Masters event. This tourney is going to be even bigger next year, and to try and cram enough rounds to truly determine the winner in one day sounds no fun. No need for the single elimination if people are complaining about it - but it should take more than 4 wins from a soft draw to claim the prize - and 5-6 games would be a lot for one day.
