  1. Thanks for the clarification. That makes a lot of sense.
  2. Thanks for the primer. I found it to be an excellent read as I'm returning to the game after a fairly long hiatus. Quick, noob question, if a model misses Pandora with a melee attack are they considered to have failed a WP duel for the purposes of Misery?
  3. Executioner is pretty rocking in a Perdita list. I also like him with Lady J, Student and Lucius. A Fast, Melee Expert Executioner tossed into an enemy crew is pretty sick. While it is activation intensive it can be brutal vs. crews with many low cost minions. If I go with this set-up I almost always take Grudge or Kill Protege as a scheme.
  4. I tend to build my lists in a similar fashion. Creating modules that are self sufficient and well rounded is a solid list building strategy for Guild. Using the above mentioned strategy this afternoon I won A Line in the Sand 6-2 as the attacker vs. Rasputina. My force was split as follows: Module 1: Executioner; Convict Gunslinger; Enslaved Nephlim Module 2: Santiago; Francisco Roaming: Perdita; Watcher I also like Witchling Stalkers paired with Death Marshals, Francisco and Nino, and Brutal Effigy, Santiago, Guardian.
  5. I've had pretty good success with this crew in combat focused strategies (Slaughter, Contain Power, Claim Jump etc...) Guild Crew - 35 - Scrap Lady Justice -- 8 Pool Student of Conflict [4ss] Lucius [10ss] Executioner [7ss] Guild Austringer [5ss] Guild Austringer [5ss]
  6. I'm 1-1 vs. Kirai with Guild. The larger minimum damage models seems to a big boon but I'm wondering if a couple of Austringers may be worth it just to punk Senshin. Thoughts?
  7. Thanks for the insight Nilus. My playgroup almost exclusively plays shared strategies and I feel Shared Destroy the Evidence is a tough one for Guild. I'm going to try out your idea of a first turn grab and then playing a lot of defense.
  8. You really can't go wrong with the Perdita box. She's a fun and fairly strong master (her low SS cache is her only downside) and it is pretty common to see Nino, Santiago and even occasionally Francisco in non-Perdita lists. In my experience Austringers work best in pairs. You should get a second one. I also really like teaming Lucius up with Lady J to slingshot her and an Executioner up the field. That being stated I'm not a fan of Lucius' box set and would encourage you to just buy his blister. I agree with mistercactus; if you're going to play Sonnia a lot then her avatar is a great buy. If that's the case you should also pick up a couple of Desperate Mercs. Finally, do yourself a huge favor and pick up a Watcher. I've stopped keeping track of the number of games this little guy has won for me. For 3 stones you get a significant model with speed 7, flight and a toolbox of useful abilities.
  9. Cool, thanks Nilus. Is it legal to activate Perdita first and declare the companion chain of Perdita, dogs and totem even though she only has "Companion (Family)" on her card? I was playing under the assumption you couldn't activate a totem and the dogs in the same companion chain because you had to begin an activation with a model then you could declare any companions it has on its card.
  10. Bump because I'd like to know what the list is as Destroy the Evidence is a tough scenario for me. Thanks!
  11. Thanks for the reply. I think there's a great deal of value in shaking up the normal point totals. It makes some things that are normally auto-includes a critical decision. Exactly! Plus, I think it makes it a much harder choice to max SS out.
  12. Awesome! I was so bummed about not making it this year but family first. I so want to fast forward to next year. On a side note I was curious why you went with 30SS for the qualifiers and masters? And as a follow-up do you feel the games ran smoother at 30? I ask because I play at a couple of different venues in MI and 35SS seems like the industry standard.
  13. The Turn 6 idea sounds interesting but I would hope it would not replace the standard qualifier/masters format. One stumbling block I could see with it is people having to frantically track down opponents or wait around until one of them shows up.
  14. I wasn't at Adepticon this year but heard nothing but wonderful things from my friends who attended. I do plan on going next year come Hell or high water so for whatever it is worth I'm also in favor of 3 round qualifiers. It makes for a more relaxed event and allows players to go check out other parts of the con.
  15. I wasn't there because of family commitments but I've heard great things about the Malifaux scene at Adepticon. I'm already working on crews for next year and as soon as the dates are announced I'll be requesting the time off work.
  16. I know you can't hire totems if you take an effigy but could Collette still summon doves while the effigy is in play?
  17. This is really sound advice as killing models that haven't activated negates the tempo swinging back in your opponent's favor. It is another reason why I always take my trusty Watcher in Perdita crews.
  18. I hear you von. One of the big draws for me to Malifaux was the fact the game rewards playing depth of faction and allows for list building on the fly.
  19. This is really sound advice. New players can often get too caught up in the Ortega alpha strike. The thing is Companion is really a double edged sword. Once you're out of activations for a turn your opponent can freely move about so use Companion sparingly.
  20. I completely agree. Plus, outside of Hoffman our masters have very little synergy with our minions (which isn't always a bad thing). My game plan against most crews in Shared Destroy the Evidence is to snag the middle one on the first turn then hang back and protect my evidence counters with everything except dogs and my trusty Watcher.
  21. I can see that. I was actually playing a pretty mobile Perdita list this weekend in Shared Claim Jump vs. Arcanists. Good luck at Adepticon! Family stuff is keeping me at home but next year I'll be there.
  22. I play all of our masters. Personally, I like Hoffman and Lady J/Lucius for Destroy the Evidence.
  23. Thanks for the very insightful replies! So do you typically Cast Inferno on turns 1 and 2 and manifest as quickly as possible or do you hold manifesting off until a certain point? Also, what do you think about a Guardian with aSonnia? It makes sense to me because it seems like Sonnia wants to be in the middle of things but doesn't have great defensive stats.
