Had a game vs Ian tonite (Sergilia or something...)

35ss - Marcus vs Viks

Marcus had; Slaughter, Breakthrough and Sabotage

Marcus used; Jackalope, Killjoy, Joss, 2 x Slurrids, Moleman.

Viks had; Recconoitre, Bodyguard and stake a claim

Viks used; Von Schill, Librarian, Trapper, Specialist

Final score was an 8-0 win after Marcus killed a vik and heavily wounded another before falling to them, then killjoy went on a late killing spree killing the specialist, von schill and sword vik in the last 2 turns.

2 x Slurrids are better than expected, leaping onto a librarian turn 2 <3

2 more games tonite;

Game 1 vs a different vik's player (Scurr)

I had; Recon, Stake a claim, Marcus' one

I used; Jackalope, Waldegeist, 2 x slurrid, Steamborg executioner (new model), 2 x night terrors

He had; Slaughter, Stake a claim, grudge

He used; Libarian, Taelor, Desp Merc, Convict Gunslinger, Ronin

Game ended in a 4-4 draw with marcus needing a moderate on a damage prevention on the last action of the game to get a 4-2 win. Silly Marcus.

Game 2 vs Paul - Lillith

I had; Slaughter, Kill Protegee, Grudge

I used; Jackalope, Moleman, 2 x Shikome (Never done that before) and Killjoy

He had; Claim Jump, Stake a Claim and Kill Protegee

He used; Nekima, Terrot tot, Lelu, Lilitu, Cherub, Desp Merc

Highlights of the game;

- Killjoy popping up in turn 2 and being 1 shotted by Lilith with a red joker.

- Paul having an atrocious first turn trying to kill his own desp merc.

- The game finishing with a shikome on 1 wound as the only thing on the board

- Marcus killing Lilitu, Lelu and Nekima (y)

- Marcus dying to the black blood of the Lelu...

Ended up as a 4-2 win to me

Not quite Junky. After round 2 of 3 there were 6 players on 2 wins and the match ups were;

Table 1 - Ressers (Kirai) vs Ressers (Seamus)

Table 2 - Arcanists (Me with everyone) vs Outcasts (Levy or Viks - had used Viks twice)

Table 3 - Arcanists (Collette) vs Outcasts (Hamelin)

With Kirai, Marcus and Hamelin winning on those 3 tables.

So;

Me vs Steve D - Marcus vs Zoraida - Shared Destroy the Evidence

I took; Kill Protegee and Exterminate

He took; Bodyguard and Stake a Claim

I used; Marcus, Student of Conflict, 3 x Slurrid, Moleman, Desp Merc, Snowstorm

He used; 2 x Slurrid, Bad Juju, 2 x Gremlin, Young LaCroix, Ophelia

Game ended in an 8-6 victory to me, however due to gaining grounds time limits we only got in 4 turns (Steve was new to the game), initivative next turn would have been fascinating with Marcus and a student of conflict stood next to Z with 3 wounds left, both 1ss, and snowstorm and slurrid ready to re-kill bad juju who was on the stakey claim!

Game 2 was vs Adam Boyes (Boysey or something) who won best painted.

I had; Claim Jump, Marcus' one and Stake a Claim

He had; Treasure Hunt, Bodyguard and eye for an eye

I used; Marcus, Shikome, Jackalope, Cerberus, 3 x Night Terrors, Desp Merc, Moleman

He used; Perdita, Francisco, Nino, Executioner, Enslaved Neph, Austringer, 2 x Hounds

Turn 1 his hounds get his treasure back in his deployment zone and hand off to the executioner. I manage to get the shikome behind a wall that his preyed austringer is on the other side on waiting for the jump on initivate. He wins initivative, kills the shikome with francisco and 'dita. I charge marcus into 'dita, can't get my attack high enough on the charge to dump in the red joker in my hand.

I win the crucial initivative flip on the next turn and kill 'dita courtesy of tons more SS. Cat leaps onto austringer and kills him too.

Game comes down to executioner in a corner in defensive stance being attacked by Marcus and Night terrors (Hard to kill ftw), manage to get thier blind trigger off so he can't even try and kill marcus right at the end, all after the cat had taken him down 1 wound before missing with his last attack and the executioner killing the cat to go back up to full.

Ended an 8-0 win to me.

Game 3 vs Steve Scurr

I had; Slaughter, Sabotage, Power Ritual

He had; Destroy Evidence, Breakthrough, Grudge (Cat)

I used; 2 x Slurrid, Mole, 3 x Night Terror, Jackalope, Cerberus

He used; Levy, Alyce, Dead Rider, Necropunk, Guardian, Canine Remains

I managed to kill the necropunk turn 1 with the cat and jackalope, then Marcus charged the activated dead rider, doing 6 wounds out of it's 7 on it, then black joker-ing the final damage flip on it. Marcus managed to survive before going on a rampage of killing the guardian, about 5 waifs, levy about 4 times and finally alyce. I won initivative more or less every turn courtesy of rubbish control hands which helped immensley.

He took 6 wounds off the cat with levy from spells before I decided to eat my own cat with a night terror, a bit gamey I know, but steve admitted on table 2 in a tournament it was the right thing to do.

Game ended as an 8-0 to me.

Finished 2nd in the tournament, with the match ups on the top tables being;

Kirai vs Seamus

Marcus vs Levy (Surprised he didn't use Viks like the rest of the tourney)

Hamelin vs Collette

with the former of each match up winning.

Going into the final game the top 2 players had huge VP differences, and after my low scoring first game it was always going to be difficult to overtake them both.

Congrats to ukrocky for another fantastic Marcus performance :) I went to the same event and finished a much more mediocre 14th :P Had 3 excellent games however.

Game 1 was a very close loss to Steve's Vicky crew all all turned around on turn 7 O.o when Mr Schill managed to take Marcus out which lost my bodyguard and gained his assassinate. Turning a 6-4 win into a 6-4 loss but was a fantastic game overall.

Game 2 was another 6-4 loss to Steve D with his Zoraida crew. I had destroy the evidence so took Mr Schill and a Coryphee Duet to get some very fast movers to run across the board and try to get the job done as soon as possible. Steve had slaughter so plan was to get in and out. The Coryphee destroyed evidence I placed on left then got obey'd out and red joker'd by lil rami. Marcus destroyed the evidence on my right which left the one in the centre which I wasn't able to take. Steve defended it very well and Mr Schill took punishment like a pro. Steve was then able to come across the board and complete breakthrough. Was a really good game and steve played it well.

Last game was against Ben's Perdita crew which I won 8-0 I think it wasI had treasure hunt so Mr Schill was again called into action to grab the token for me. First turn used the snowstorm to help Marcus and Mr Schill get across the board some so that Mr Schill could jump onto it turn one which he was then able to get back to my deployment zone over the game. It was then a defensive formation to Keep him out of my deployment zone and spread out to stop my Ben getting table quarters and break through.

3 good games over the day against 3 very nice opponents :) while I haven't mentioned them much my Waldgeists were fantastic all day long. The enabled me to get Claim Jump and in the last game used a forest to block of one route and took alot of hits over the day with the Armour 2 able to frustrate people.

The first game of our league was today, and I was pitted against Hamelin, 35 pts. Flip the black joker for strat, so he chose mine.

Hamelin:

strat Escape and Survive

schemes Thwart, Gather Soulstones (Both Outcast schemes, both announced).

He started with a small crew and knew he'd be summoning more, so the strat was fine for him. He started with more SS's than me, so he seemed to be fine there as well.

Marcus:

strat - chosen by himContain Power :(

schemes Sabotage and Primal Source (Arcanist/Marcus schemes, both announced).

Hamelin... I think he started with:

15 - x3 rat catchers

7 - nix

6 - x2 the stolen

2 - Obedient Wretch

5ss in cache

Marcus:

8 - Cerberus - so I could roar at the rats and catchers, but he ended up doing sooo much more than that.

9 - x3 Night Terrors - so I could attempt to match-activate him

10 - x2 Silurids - the entire terrain was considered severe and mobility with damage is always nice

5 - Hoarcat - 'cause I heard they were good against rats because of their devour... nah; I would have been better off with another silurid

1 - Jackolope - 'cause why not?

2 - AMarc

4ss cache

Highlights/thoughts:

- At some point, I (wisely, looking back on it) decide I'm just going to ignore the rats and gun for the guy controlling them), and surround Hamelin with night terrors, preventing him from striking, and doing many attacks worth of minor damage, enough to eat him almost dead. Nix walks over and sac's his master so he can come back with a stolen in play... damn.

- Mostly ignored the rats. Wasn't too scared of them, and most of my crew had flight/pass-through, or whatever.

-Sabertooth roared, making all of the (post-howl) 6 rats with 1 WP fall back, and all of the rat catchers. That was nice. A heavily wounded silurid and jackolope also fell back, but it was worth it.

- I got off the AMarc/Cerb combo to kill Hamelin w/o stolen in play! AMarc uses instinctive behavior on the cerb to give him a (1) action. The cerb was in base contact with Hamelin at the time, so he attacks. The cerb also gets +1 flip to attack and damage for the rest of the round... and activates after AMarc if I choose (and I did choose him, along with the silurid, since 2 guys can activate after AMarc). Cerb eats Hamelin's face, bringing him from 12 Wds to 3, draining his control hand and his SS cache (I had 1 SS remaining, so that denied him the 2 pts for having more than me!). The silurid finished him off with a tied opposed Cb/Df dual, so -2 damage flip... and I got the red joker with a moderate followup. I wiped sweat off my brow. That was one of the most exciting games I've played in a while.

Final score

Marc

2 (Contain Power, because my master didn't kill him)

+2 (primal source)

+2 sabotage

= 6

Hamelin

4 (75% of his guys remaining at game end)

=4

And this was my first play against Hamelin! Things I learned were basically to kill Hamelin (good thing I was told to get Contain Power, or I probably wouldn't have done that). Also, I had read somewhere that you should avoid cheating whenever possible; this is absolutely true. By restraining myself and waiting for just those right times, I starved him of cards sooo much. I should have dropped the hoarcats for a third silurid, but other than that... Team Marcus FTW!

Allright, here are some small battlereports from the tournament yesterday. I hope I remember all the schemes from my opponent! The tricky 30ss format was special

There were 21 players (sadly magicpockets and drake didn't make it :( )

The strategies were shared and fixed, and you gained +2vp if you tried your masterspecific and both your factionspecific.

Game 1 Marcus vs Hamelin

Strategie: Shared deliver a message

Schemes: Primal Source & Power ritual

Opp Schemes: Stake a claim & Twart

List: Marcus, Jackaloppe, 3x Silurid, Shikome, Molemen

Opp list: Hamelin, Wretch, Nix, 2x Rat catcher, 3x Mx Rat, 1 Stolen

My opponent (Bart) was a new player (3th game with hamelin) so for him, it was sometimes a bit overwhelming.

I did what i would have done against any opponent, start the ritual and move forward with care. He did the same thing. In turn 2 i gave huntingpartners to a silurid who moved a whooping 20'' and still deliver a message ( leap + move in combat with rat + self preservation towards Hamlin) The Silurid died that turn to obviously... Marcus teamed up with the molemen and the shikome. The other Silurids leaped the flank. Hamelin tried to control the middle and Nix moved with some rats towards the Silurids.

Turn 3 the Silurids ritualed the 3th corner and leaped for cover. Nix and his rats were way to slow. Hamelin was afraid of the shikome, and send his ratcatchers forward along with a couple of rats. After reading that ratcatchers can interact for a (1) I started to play even more with care. Marcus charged a rat for a (0) killed it (turning it into a beast) and jumping away. leaving his small molefriend behind who died from alot of ratbites...

Turn 4 Marcus did the same trick, and scored Primal Source (he even killed a 3th just to be safe, (I always thought he needed 3 beast kills lol...) while the silurids scored the 4th tablecorner. There was however now way I could stop his stake a claim...

8-2

Game 2 Marcus vs Ophelia

Strategie: Shared Supply wagon

Schemes: Assasinate & Stake a Claim

Opp Schemes: Hold out & Stake a Claim

List: Marcus, Jackaloppe, Shikome, Cerberuss, Myranda, Waldgeist

Opp List: Ophelia, Pere Ravagé, Rami, Francois, Raphael, 4x Bayou Gremlins

My opponent (Bram) is also a proud member of ROFLstomp who really loves playing Ophelia. So I knew almost exactly how he plays his crew, he on the other hand has only played vs Marcus once.

Turn one my crew spreads out and Marcus claims the center of the table as his own. I'm just out of range for a Pere slingshot (well, he could have done it, but the damage would have been on to few models) but Marcus would be a serious threat in the next turn. Rami takes 3 shots on Marcus, and sqeeuzes 4 dmg threw (ouch...) Cerberus leaps in stalker position.

I win initiatif and Marcus/Cerberus Howl/Roar his entire crew (he didn't spread enough...) Only Ophelia wins the duel. She shoot at Marcus, but his df 7 doesn't fail him. Cerberus eats Rami. His crew rallies and my crew moves up the table.

I win initiatif again and devour Ophelia with Marcus (thank you red joker ;) ) The cerberus leaps and Roars again (I felt very bad for doing it, but Bram was actually laughing :D)

He did however kill the Cerberus but focussing him to death. My waldgeist Stake a claimed and everything else tried to stop the the gremlins their stake a claim to succeed. Francois however one-shots Myranda and 1 Gremlin makes it to the Stake a Claim.

Oh yeah, I completly trashed his wagon ;)

8-2

Game 3 Marcus vs C. Hoffman

Strategie: Shared Turf War

Schemes: Sabotage & Breaktrough

Opp Schemes: Bodyguard & Breaktrough

List: Marcus, Jackaloppe, 3x Silurids, Shikome, Molemen

Opp list: Hoffman, Peacekeeper, Guardian, Austringer, Watcher, Witchling Stalker

I played against Kevin (aka Headcase2) who won the last tournament. We started the match, and it became quickly clear that neither of us could engage without losing... If he made a move on me, I would pounce him to dead, and viceversa... The game ended in turn 4 after 15 minutes... We could have settled for a 7-7 draw, but we both knew that wasn't the ROFLstomp way...

6-6

Game 4 Marcus vs Colette

Strategie: Shared Stake a Claim

Schemes: Bodyguard & Kill protegé (Casandra)

Opp Schemes: Grudge (Cerberus) & Assasinate

List: Marcus, Jackaloppe, Molemen, Cerberus, Waldgeist, Shikome

Opp list: Colette, Preformer + manequin, 2x Coryphee, Casandra

My opponent (Tomas) is a member of the Puppeteers, a newly formed group and direct rival to the ROFLstompers! This would be the ultimate shodown. (Reallity, he's a fun guy ;) )

He outactivated me turn one and moves his Casandra in breathfire range of the Cerberus, he flips a Black Joker for damage. His duet however dances towards that same Cerberus and filps red joker for damage. (thank you terrible damage output) only 6 dmg...

Turn 2, Marcus wins initiatif and decides he wants to control the duet. He turns them in a beast and also the alfa works. The duet walks towards Casandra and hits her on the head. She only causes 2 wounds, but a 14 point model that doesn't activated this turn is always worth the money!

Casandra kills the cerberus but gets charged and killed by the shikome. The waldgeist places his forest so Colette has no clear shot at Marcus.

Turn 3 I win initiative again and decide to try the same trick, I didn't notice the dove however and the corryphee duet blocks my (0) action (I would have cried if he blocked my alfa...) So Marcus changes plans and decides to kill a preformer instead...

Colette and the duet apears and drags Marcus down to 2 wounds. The plus side however -> Colette has 0 stones!

Turn 4

I try to kill Colette with Marcus but she flashes away, so now I need to kill the Manequin. I actived the waldgeist and companion the jackaloppe. With immens lucky they kill it!

The Duet needs to start thinking about the claim jump (which was the hanging tree with Terrifying 12)

Colette wants to try one last nifty trick and switches places with the duet only to become very afraid of the hanging tree.

Finaly score: 8 - 2

And the only reason I went to the tournie with Marcus was to prove he isn't that bad ;) Mission accomplisched I believe :D
