  1. 2nd Game last night against Zoraida...Marcus is now 1-0-1! Strategy was Shared Pee-On-Things (Plant Evidence) Me: Power Ritual & Kill Protege (Nekima) Used: Jackalope, Cererbus, Shikome, Moleman, 2 Sulurids Him: Assassinate & Grudge (Moleman) Used: 3 Tots, Shaman, Nekima, 2 Desp Mercs, Voodoo Doll I had 8 points by mid-way through turn 4. Unfortunately, he got so focused on assassinating Marcus that he did not start tagging things until turn 6, only getting 2 off of Plant Evidence. He also was unable to kill my Moleman, who sat WAY back in the very corner of the board, having taken 3 damage from voodoo doll poison. Final score 8-4. P.S.- Got off Alpha on Mature Nephlim. YAY!
  2. First Marcus game last night! 4-4 tie vs. Ramos. Me: Supply Wagon (0), Kill Protege (2), Marcus scheme (2) Jackalope, Raptor, Cerberus, Shikome, Moleman, Joss Him: Supply Wagon (2), Sabatoge (0), Ramos scheme (2) Mobile Toolkit, SS Miner, Soulborg Executioner (Protege), Rusty Alyce, Large Arachnid, maybe a small archnid too? Favorite moment: Opponent used Overheat(?) on the Executioner to get him to my unprotected supply wagon trying to destory it. Unfortunately, he forgot about aMarcus waiting in the wings. Marcus manifests, flies in, and beats face. Also, Moleman= Best Speedbump EVER.
  3. Sorry, Master of Malifaux champion. It was a big tournament so it's just easier to say world champion. lol
  4. Really was not trying to be trollish. Hence why I said that it was a theory. I just noticed that there was alot of correlation between masters that do better/worse with fluffy lists and masters that are called over/under powered. It was an observation more so than an opinion. Also, while I am still only 4 months in, I do play in an area with some fantastic players, including 2 developers and the current world champion. I do not claim that I am a good player, but I have noticed that those people sometimes use combinations that I don't really see the weaker players (myself included) using. So again it was really only a theory that I was interesting in hearing both sides of, not a statement of "I'm a genius and you're all idiots". I'm sorry if it came accross that way.
  5. See, it may be that those are considered the best crews because they are so easy to figure out what to play with and make it work well. It's not instinctive to put Steamborg in with Marcus or maybe let Night Terrors acts as objective-grabbers for Seamus. I think the people that know and excercise all of their options perform better, even with supposedly weaker masters. I guess I'm kind of saying that truly tailoring your crew to the strategy first and to each other second may be overlooked.
  6. I pose a theory: MOST (not all) of the "imbalance" of Malifaux lies in people making fluffier lists instead of exploring all of their options. Discuss. To cite: Archanists, the generally accepted "weakest faction" also has some of the fluffiest lists, while Neverborn, the most "overpowered faction" can field almost any model in any list. Even in games amongst weaker players, it is not uncommon to see Lelu, Teddy, or Terror Tots in almost any Neverborn crew. However, how often does one see Student of Conflict in a Marcus crew or Joss in a Raspy Crew, at least among newer players? They are both fine models and not terrible choices at all, they just don't seem to fit with those masters. Within Ressers, Kirai is seen as Teir 1, Seamus as teir 1.5 and McMourning is usually ranked even lower. If you look at the "fluffy" models, you see that Kirai with spirits is great, Seamus with Belles is good, and most people people turn their nurses into paperweights quickly. But when one turns to other models for McMourning, or puts some muscle in a Seamus list, buisness picks up. Heck, I can't count how often I've seen Killjoy in a rezzer list. Anyways, just food for thought, please put your own unput in.
  7. With all of the complaining about Alp bombs or how book 2 master are OP or Neverborn being Broken or whatever, I feel like the powers-that-be at Wyrd have to listen to a lot of negativity. I believe that alot of hard work goes into this game and that they deserve better than they get alot of the time. Is the game without faults? Probably not, but few games are. I just wanted to make a thread for Wyrd to know how much we appreciate all they do and how great of a game they've given us. Thank you to all of the Wyrd crew for a REALLY fun game, good customer service, some great models, and a constant effort to make it all even better. Thank you.
  8. Probably a Neverlose master?
  9. I shall start on mechanics first thing tomorrow and keep you all abreast. It will be AWESOME!
  10. A) Do you guys enjoy multiplayer? 3 or 4 player? SS per player? C) What adjustments do you make to the game to play it with extra? Bigger board, earn points off the player to your left, etc... D) Are any masters better or worse at Multi? I'd imagine Dreamer would be worse and someone like Marcus who could swoop in and steal points or something might be better... Discuss
  11. Are there any spells on your favorite models that you just don't use or only use like 1 game in 10, like maybe Collette's Ronin spell? Just anything that might be a "newbie trap" or that you think might be a good idea and it just never is?
  12. Can someone please explain to me why everyone says Essence of Power is so much better for Raspy then Wendigo? I don't see it. All of Wendigo's stats are better, they're the same cost, and he has more HP. The only things EoP has are Link and Empower. Are those really that great?
  13. I like playing games for fun, but there's a big part of me that likes to win. I hate going into games already behind the 8-ball, so is there a master/crew who just doesn't really cut it at current? I heard bad things about at least one master (I think it was Nicodeam?). Anyone?
  14. Ok, I have about $250 to drop into this game cause I like to just jump deep into things. However, I'd like to be as efficient as I can in buying figures. So, if I have a couple of masters I want from the same class, I'm trying to see how much their figures overlap so I need to buy less extra figures to build a semi-competitive force. Make sense? So, for the Archanists: I really want Rasputina and Collette. How do their figures overlap? Are there any figures I can buy that will serve them both well? Are there any "need-to-buys" like a pair of Coryphees for Colette? Finally, does the Steamborg Executioner Class work well with either of them or Marcus? He looks SO COOL! For the Resurrectionists, I like the mobility and sneakiness of Kirai...is there another master who's box she compliments or who compliments her? Any "needs" besides Seishan? Also, who does Shikome fit with? Outcasts: Do all the Gremlin things work well together, and how do they interact with the Viktorias? Anyoverlap in figure usage? Is the "Mercenaries" box set actually all mercenaries? And since this is the mercenary faction, are there any necessary ones besindes Jack Daw? Neverborn: Anything I need to go with Pandora besides maybe some more Sorrows? How do Insideous Madness, Primordial magic or Doppelganger work with her? Finally, WHAT THE HECK IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A TOTEM AND A NORMAL FIGURE!? and do I NEED the master's totem?
  15. Trying to jump into the game. Can anyone give me short hand descriptions of the various available masters/crews so I can make an educated decision? Who's fast? Who's just strong and straight forward? Who's manipulative of the other player's stuff? Who's sneaky and tricky? How does Rasputina function? The Viktorias? The Steampunk builder? Sheamus? Thanks for your help guys!
