Jabberwocky Posted April 5, 2009 Report Posted April 5, 2009 (edited) I painted this little fella for the the WaMP contest. I managed to nab 2nd after a wonderful Perdita by Landreth. As always, harsh critiques welcomed. Edit: Here's the CMoN link if you are so inclined: http://www.coolminiornot.com/218615 Edited April 5, 2009 by Jabberwocky Quote
demonherald Posted April 5, 2009 Report Posted April 5, 2009 As I said when judging I really like this one.. The colour choices work and the little additions to the base bring it to life and the sword is very very striking.. Great all round work and another jump up for you. Quote
Nathan Caroland Posted April 5, 2009 Report Posted April 5, 2009 Fun piece here! Are those soulstones having fallen out of a carryall? Quote
TheBugKing Posted April 5, 2009 Report Posted April 5, 2009 That's a great question Nathan. Are soul stones glowey green or glowey blue??? Oh yeah. Awesome job. Even if it is a Guild model and one that used to be an Arcanist to boot. (Such an atrocity!) Quote
DeafNala Posted April 5, 2009 Report Posted April 5, 2009 How could anyone come with a "harsh critique"? That's one Ugly Little Guy with a BEAUTIFUL paint job. I love EVERTHING about the Little Sucker; i.e., choice of colors, execution, & a WONDERFUL base. I'm mildly impressed. Quote
Hinton Posted April 5, 2009 Report Posted April 5, 2009 Very nice work on this, JW. Congrats on placing in the contest. Quote
Jabberwocky Posted April 5, 2009 Author Report Posted April 5, 2009 Thanks for the comments, everyone! To answer Nathan's question, yes, those are soulstones. I went with blue because of Moa. I think on the terrain piece he did for Gen Con the crystals in the cave in in one of the buildings were blue. It's tough to see in the pics, but the witchling is also standing on a railroad track which also ties into the Malifaux setting. Quote
goblyn13 Posted April 5, 2009 Report Posted April 5, 2009 That's a great question Nathan. Are soul stones glowey green or glowey blue??? Oh yeah. Awesome job. Even if it is a Guild model and one that used to be an Arcanist to boot. (Such an atrocity!) You could always answer the easy way. Both. Glowy blue for when they have absorbed a soul and glowy green for their raw form. or vice versa Quote
Peterdita Posted April 5, 2009 Report Posted April 5, 2009 Yup this is a great paintjob. A well desrerved placer. Great job Jabberwocky! Quote
Scorpio Posted April 6, 2009 Report Posted April 6, 2009 A lot of character packed into such a little henchman, good work. Quote
Chameleon Posted April 6, 2009 Report Posted April 6, 2009 A great paintjob and congrats on the 2nd place! I particularly like the tan coloured material, which has come out really nicely! Quote
Jabberwocky Posted April 7, 2009 Author Report Posted April 7, 2009 Is that sword painted in NMM? Nope . Metallics that have been (heavily) shaded with GW Devlan Mud (just a bit) and lots of Badab Black. Quote
