Nathan Caroland
I still can't believe it went for what it did. Very cool on Kev and them though for it.
EricJ
nice mini! What did it go for?
Nathan Caroland
$800 USD if I remember correctly.
Spacemunkie
So about what Kev charges for a sculpt then Awesome. I'll have one of those.

wiccanpony
Will Tom be doing this sort of Auction on a regular schedule??? Not that I would ever have $800 to spend on one, but I can dream.
Nathan Caroland
I imagine he would after the success of this last one, frankly, if you can get folks to pay $800USD for a random sculpt that you've done as a practice piece, I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard of a step to take. vincegamer
Damn that's a good looking mini. How many do you suppose they will sell, and at what price?
Ritual
Most HF minis are £3 (a little over $5). And they'll probably sell loads!
gi6ers
They tend to price fairly and once production costs have been covered they reduce the price, a lot of companies could learn from those guys. Service above and beyond anyone else.
Patrick
As an artist, I think it's an excellent marketing move! Someone with Tom's credentials could pull off an auction for that amount, and likely only a handful of other sculptors. Dennis Mize may have been another one. I'm looking forward to that release. cdukino
NEWS Update: He's available from now on. Well atleast the first resin cats are. Limited to 200 and in various colours resin. The metal version might still be a few months as the green has not yet been returned to kev to send to the metal caster. What the price of the metal one will be I don't know. The resin i do: Options Blue / Silver Pirate £ 10.00 Black / Bronze Pirate £ 10.00 Blue / Grey Pirate £ 10.00 Produced in 3 resin colour options: Blue resin with silver powder-coating ( 80 copies), black resin with bronze powder coating (80 copies) and a dark blue/grey un-powdered resin ( 40 copies). He comes packed in a nice sturdy tin to protect his fragility and the usual HF providence note. The powder coating apparently did cost more to produce. I don't know what the effect of it will be if you want to paint over it. I think it might have a bit of an effect on the surface quality. And if you are gonna paint over it the nice powder shimmery look gets lost. But I think that is a nice look if you aren't gonna paint it... Anyway... to follow the discussion on this way of casting (which SteveB can word much better then me anyway): http://heresyminiatures.com/forumofdoom/index.php?topic=3051.0 And a painted version (picture isn't the best):
gi6ers
Think i'm gonna wait for the metal version. Not a big fan of resin and the extra details are wasted on me TBH.
Drake Farstrider
It is well done, but it does nothing for me.
Ritual
I have one of these resin pirates on it's way! I love it! It has all the qualities of a 54 mm sculpt shrinked down perfectly to 30 mm. And, the resin cast ensures that the level of detail in the sculpt is kept.
green stuff
The mini was painted by Stuart (Medved) if I recall correctly.
