Another faction pack run?

Chances of another faction pack run?

There seems to be a few threads about this so there is a demand albeit probably not massive.

Living outside the US makes card printing services not as appealing.

Yes, the app is a good substitute but personally speaking the physical cards help with the flow of the game. With everything laid out and the information gleaned at a quick glance, makes for a more enjoyable experience teaching younger players, for me at least.

The chances are very low (in that Nathan has already said that he doesn't plan on doing any more). They were intended as a stop gap measure for the change of edition. I'm disappointed that they stopped printing them within the first year or the games release, as I hadn't got around to getting all the cards I needed, but I knew it was a time limited thing.

Faction packs will not be reprinted. We've done three print runs, and they were meant to be a stopgap between editions, not a long term product.

Thank you for the reply.

I had seen the response from last year but thank you for confirming.

I was hoping that the decision would be reconsidered. Fewer and fewer stores are stocking Malifaux here in Oz so its harder to get people interested.

I have a few core boxes ready for intro games but would really like to have a few faction packs to make the system easier to follow when its all laid out on the table.

Its a great game, it just needs a bit of a boost.

I don't know anything more than that post, but the last year hasn't seen an announcement that they have changed their mind.

Faction packs were only intended as a way to convert old collections to the new editions. They are not really a good idea for new players to buy.

I'm a big fan of the cards as well, but you may be able to print out the stat cards for the crews you own on a normal printer for your own games/demo games

Thank you Adran.

I had thought about the printing and laminating method and your suggestion has pushed me a bit closer to going that route.

I just really liked the quality of the faction pack cards.

I do appreciate the stop gap approach but I hadn't realised it was a time based product until it was too late, but that's on me.

I hadn't any problems getting faction packs in 2E but maybe that is the reason why Wyrd went with this approach, so its not oversaturated. I just believe there is still demand for them but maybe not as much as Wyrd would need for another printing.

There was some mention of, time permitting, adding a black and white printing option to the App so you could have all the errata'd cards on the table. I assume that wouldn't have any artwork.

No idea if that's still an option...

Why does it have to come through the app?

If you wanted black and white copies of the cards... why not just go to the drop box, download the entire errata card list + combine them in adobe + print them 3 cards (3 fronts 3 backs) to a page (the perfect size for the card sleeves)?

I've done this with the entire explorers faction cards and it works really well (I actually sent it to staples and had them use their nice color printer so I real nice explorer card proxies).

Lots of them and discounted to boot, so yeah it makes sense but the time frame was a lot shorter than I would have imagined for 3E.

In the facebook group for Wyrd trades you have plenty of people willing to send any cards to you for a little price (or many times, just paying for the shipping), myself included.

If you try and print those full colour cards in black and white you'll likely end up with some ok cards and many unusable ones, but you'll definitely end up with lots of wasted ink. Given the cost of colour ink cartridges these days, it's probably a similar price to get much better copies printed for you rather than use your own inkjet.

Both of the unofficial beta apps had great printing options. It was a real shame support was stopped for them - they had a massive part to play in me starting Malifaux. Overall the official app is better, but it was really nice to be able to print cards for all the models you owned really easily.
