  1. I can see it being these books at launch, another faction book when Faction X is released, and then books with background and a couple of profiles per faction, like we have had for 1st and 2nd edition. Its just the number of profiles coming out of beta that makes a single book impractical.
  2. The books will be released over a few months by the sounds of it. It'll be expensive to collect them all, particularly at release, but I can't really see any other way for them to release books at launch with all the profiles in.
  3. You and me (and pretty much everyone else) both! But we can't see the bottom half of the artwork, so she may still have trousers. The previewed model certainly looks more like the probable Judge than the new art for Lady J, simply down to the hair, if nothing else. Plus: that preview is a cool model and it would be a shame not to get it in favour of Short-hair Justice.
  4. Seeing that box art ( and Lady J's new short hair) makes me wonder if the kickass model firing into the Pine Box is actually the new Judge, not Lady J as we all assumed last year. Its basically wishful thinking on my part as I'm sure that model has a blindfold, but still, I can hope!
  5. There hasn't been anything official from Wyrd outside of GAMA yet, only those Powerpoint slides. I wouldn't mind betting there's a bit more information in a Waldo's Weekly in the near future.
  6. Yeah, I was thinking he looks much more like a Misaki buddy than Lo Pan Yan Lo's.
  7. I've been using the time to grab as many Guild boxes as I can get my hands on for vastly reduced prices. It's been great. I've managed to go from a Hoffman crew of primarily Constructs and a Perdita box to over two thirds of all available Guild models and it's not cost me a huge amount at all. I've also ended up with Mei Feng and Jakob Lynch boxes too. Long may the bargaisn continue (just so long as I get to actually use them when M3E is out!)
  8. And if we're really lucky, the beard won't be as much of an issue either!
  9. I agree with Ludvig. While killing models is always fun, Malifaux is a game won or lost through the Schemes and Strategies. Just whoever plays the Shadows of Redchapel crew watch out for the Misery trigger on Pandora and her Sorrows. It can be brutal if it catches you unprepared!
  10. I am seriously tempted - I do have a sister who lives in Leeds so I might be able to avoid the "public transport across the Pennines first thing in the morning" issue! I'll see what the ticket status is like when I get paid!
  11. I am very tempted, but I've never been to a Malifaux tournament before or played 3rd Edition (yet!) and have to travel across the Pennines on public transport, so I will have a think about it!
  12. Not yet, but, I would guess with a couple of months of Open Beta, then a couple of months to organise printing and stuff, Gencon 2019 being the launch is a likely candidate.
  13. I'm guessing it will start to be updated when they have a proper timeline for TOS and M3E releases, which possibly aren't finalised yet.
  14. 40K was made a mockery of its former self when it made the jump from 2nd to 3rd Edition and it never recovered. But now we have Malifaux, so all is well. I can't imagine, after everything Wyrd have said, that they'll change the game anywhere near as much as GW have with theirs over the years.
  15. I'd love a Guild Gremlin. A Gremlin who tries to emulate the Guild and start his own protection racket but gets recruited by the Guild to 'oversee' those parts of the city that are getting a bit too dangerous for Guardsmen. Mainly because I really want Gremlins but, as the owner of a ton of Guild stuff, there's just no crossover to justify buying them to myself (unlike Arcanist constructs)
  16. The only reasons I'm not excited about Cornelius are that I know nothing about him background-wise, and his hiring pool is tiny. Obviously that'll get bigger once he's released, but until then he just doesn't float my boat the same way bald men and explosions do. *Reads what he just wrote... Err...*
  17. In terms of demos, I'd use the version you personally find easiest to demo. The trick with a demo is to get the other player interested, and Malifaux is a complex game. The version that you can personally explain best is the one that will work best for getting a new player to play understand the feel of the game.
  18. Hoffman. He's the only Master I've ever actually played with, but he's still the one I want to play more of. After that, it's Dashel. I want to try a Summoner. Then its Sonnia, because sometimes you just want to blow stuff up.
  19. Not going to lie, this will likely be me. I don't get to play often and I'm not good enough to really provide nuanced feedback, so my observations will probably be minimal - I am looking forward to seeing the rules and the profiles though - and playing, obviously!
  20. Already got the bundles, but oooh... posters 😁
  21. I've no experience with Ten Thunders, but I'm not sure you want to get Mounted Guards at the moment because when 3rd Edition comes out sometime in 2019 we think) then McCabe won't be able to take Guild models anymore, so you may not get much use out of them.
  22. A fair point. Perhaps I was a bit harsh with that statement. But the reverse is also true, buying something 5 years ago doesn't entitle you to have everything remain exactly the same when a new edition comes further down the line. Is it annoying when your models usefulness changes? Sure. But thats unfortunately how it is sometimes when an entire game line gets redesigned and rebalanced.
  23. So, to paraphrase, the only way you would be happy with Third Edition is if your partiular crew that you have models for would remain unchanged? I assume from your rant that you're a McCabe player running Mounted Guards and/or Guild Hounds? In which case, if you didn't want a second faction, then perhaps a dual-faction Master wasn't the best choice in the first place? They were always going to be the worst affected by an Edition change. I f my guess is correct, then Dashel will be able to use the Guards and Hounds in Guild, and the Wastrels will be perfectly usable in Ten Thunders (and I imagine will get some tasty new models to boost them). I wouldn't rule it out until you see what the future options are. If my guess isn't correct, then I can't see what the issue is. Only McCabe and McMourning are affected by the faction changes, and McMourning generally preferred Resser models anyway, as far as I can tell. 3rd Edition will be a new Edition. Even if everything had remained in the same faction as 2nd Edition there would be no guarantee that the models would play the same way, so a new Edition was always going to bring changes that required adapting to. Malifaux is a game with a low model count, so even if some models became unusable for the way you want to play, it would probably only take a purchase or two to make them usable again. There are other, larger game companies out there that have made far worse decisions during Edition changes. Personally I like what I'm seeing for 3rd Edition (and I'm also a Guild player who owns McCabe) and am happy to embrace the change. If you aren't, then so be it, but I can't help but think the only person missing out in that case would be you.
