  1. Oh, I didn't sign up, I had been planning to do what I had done for the last event, sit on the sidelines and follow it as it progresses. I guess I can probably still do that though, if I sign up but don't report, (don't have the books or anyone to play with) but if I sign up today will I be able to access yesterday's event?
  2. Wasn't the Stitch in Time event supposed to start today? Or am I jumping the gun on when Wyrd is revealing anything.
  3. Hi, after a rather long hiatus from the forums I have decided to resume my (probably doomed to fail) quest to play a game of Malifaux. It is Reading week for my university which gives me literally an entire week free, although I do have plans to reunite with my friends (time undecided as of yet) and to watch season 4 of RWBY with my sister, again no time decided. I am in Pacific Standard time, and have wanted to try an actual game before I purchase the rulebooks due to being a cheapskate. I have no interest in buying models though, I don't have the money, time or patience for it. I have no idea what I am going to take for my crew either, 10t and Arcanists are definitely the two that I am most interested in, but I am not sure which to take. I have however, recently found myself playing Darkest Dungeon, and I am really enjoying the Bounty Hunter, and was wondering if any master in those two factions had a similar game-plan, mainly one of crowd-control, forced movement, and occasionally little more than good old fashioned brute force.
  4. As much as the court is the coolest faction revealed so far, and as much as I love zilla-style builds, I feel like a titan for a syndicate isn't an amazing idea, a titan will be incredibly expensive (both in game and out) and will have to be a real commitment. Syndicates will just be a bit too limiting for it. I think it mostly be squads, probably a core option, an elite option, and a what-do-I-do-with-this-extra-scrip option.
  5. Well, we recently got shown Nguyen, and how syndicates will work, you hire a representative champion (who gives you tactics tokens) and gain access to their forces, however said representative is not a commander and will cost you 3 scrip. A pretty good deal if you ask me. Personally I wonder what unit options that we will be given, I cannot say for certain, but I would guess: -1 Representative (Nguyen and Thrace) -1 backbone squad (ex: Royal Rifle corps, The Warped, Steel Legion, Stripped Skulkers) -1 "elite" squad (ex: Imperial Dragoons, ECB black ops, Mehal Sefari, Karkinoi) -1 "filler" squad (ex: Crow Runners, Infiltrators, Broken, Spotted Crawlers) I doubt they will give you access to a titan due to the rules of assets, and that probably means that adjuncts are unlikely as well. Which is unfortunate, Guild Accountants as adjuncts would be amazing.
  6. I am probably going to wait until court models are revealed and use half my scrip to bring some of those along with me, but the other half will probably be: Fenton Brahms +25 -Arcane Tome -1 -Relics of Old Malifaux -1 Horomontagi +22 -Hovering Portal -1 -Flaming Breath -1 -Toughness -1 Goryshce -8 -Bad Breath -1 -Splitting Tails -1 -Writhing Coils 0 ECB black ops -10 Stalking portals -3 (notice how on the card it specifies models in this company, meaning court models can use portals!) Bingh Nguyeh -3 -Corona of Flame -1 Toughness 0 Scrip remaining: 15
  7. As much as "Is that... Cinnamon?" (Cinnamon's ability that models within six' as well as himself cant use moral actions) is a cool nod to the forum community, I honestly find that it just doesn't fit very well. It's an obscure reference that few will actually get, and isn't funny all on it's own. It also doesn't make much sense as an ability either unfortunately. Why not: "No, it's a giant flaming rhino" or Smells like burnt toast
  8. And I'm back! Well, there have been some pretty awesome reveals so far, the Black ops seem like they will be very effective, at east if you can find the scrip to afford them, the raving madman will help the cult models reach glory even faster than they do now (I watched the starter box video, wow) and breaching summoning doomcallers? That feels like a pretty good deal. Horo seems pretty cool, and Gorsyche's upgrades look pretty awesome, but I am honestly the most interested in Nguyen, and how syndicates will work.
  9. I honestly find that the recent update was a good thing, Wyrd got rid of a lot of the things I was a bit uncomfortable with with the kickstarter. Yes it is still basically a store, but everything is already unlocked. It does feel a bit bittersweet however, it feels like wyrd had incredibly high expectations for their kickstarter that didn't pan out. I like wyrd, as much as I have been critical of this kickstarter I still wish them the best. I criticize because I care, and because unlike in so many other forums I feel like I can criticize and be heard rather than be drowned out by irrational posters who feel like they drag down the argument with association.
  10. Agreed, I may not have seen much of them, but Binh Nguyen looks amazing. My profile picture is case in point. So far I think I will be focusing on the cult, but I still like the look of the hordes. Of course, playing on vassal means that I have the luxury of not focusing on a single faction.
  11. I had more of the impression that the cult was 90% finished with the final pieces being a bit of a headache due to them being the keystone of how the cult plays. I often seem to have that problem on things I work on, hence the tangent above. Good to hear you guys don't seem to be suffering from that!
  12. My apologies then, I guess my impressions were incorrect.
  13. A dual commander battle between Abysinia and the Cult would be nice. But wyrd with the cult seems to be running into the issue of having a really cool idea and concept, that is held back by rather glaring thing that is missing. They want something both thematic and interesting, and I get the impression they have been having a lot of issues trying to figure it out. Glory is this game's key mechanic, not having one is glaring, but I do think everyone has gone through a similar feeling sometime or another, when you feel like you have an awesome idea but where one important detail keeps feeling "off" and the more you change it the more you get frustrated and aggravated by the fact that it doesn't seem to work. Well that was a tangent.... But what I was meaning is that the cult seems very much a WIP. Moreso than the other factions. And that was a Beary bad pun.
  14. I got this impression from what I had seen. One commander didn't seem to give you enough scrip to make full use of the full roster of units, grabbing a few squads and assest for Champions seemed like all you had enough to do. I started planning an army for when this dropped on Vassal, and after deciding I wanted a unit of Twsted Horros and Gorsyche I realized I had used up all but nine of my points, and had yet to purchase any upgrades for my titans (I decided to use Horomantagi). I honestly find that horrors will serve as rather good bodyguards, as they can potentially revive themselves on death and are pretty hard to kill. Not as good as Mehal Sefari, but still notable. I think he is referring to Nguyen and Thrace (who are not commanders), but not sure who the other two he is referring to are. OH! Wait. never mind I believe they mean the models on the end of the stretch goal store thingy (still uncomfortable about that to be honest), namely Margeret Belle, The Frenzy, Fenton Brahms, and The Lord of Steel. Yes those are alternate commanders. Random question of my own: Prince Unathi has a trigger on a tome to let him draw a card, but all Abysinian units also get a trigger on a tome to draw a card when they preform an action. Does that mean that Unathi can draw two cards if he wins a duel with his rocket launcher and flips or cheats a tome?
  15. Yah! The page has been updated. And the court of two like amazing. Sure it's only a placeholder image, but I am definitely fielding some of these guys with my cult troops when this hits Vassal. I was hoping the court of two would be Gothic spirits and vampires, but instead it's gothic dopplegangers and ghosts. You know what? I like this better. I am a big fan of Okami anyway, so the look of the one model we have seen really appeals to me. I don't know whether that is Nguyen (I hope I didn't butcher that) or a generic model. Regardless there are myths of succubi-esq shapeshifting foxes in Korea, China and Japan, so they will likely be doing a mash up of all three instead of just a Kitsune. I would play this if it was an allegiance. But instead I get to field both these things AND dragons. Then there is the Guild... nothing really to say about them, but it seems Wyrd is trying to make them intimidating once again.I personally wonder if they will let you field mages, while they may have been better known for guns, guns, guns back in Malifaux, they also have a soulstone monopoly and may use this to insure that however wants to use the stones to cast spells has to work with/for them.
  16. Really? Looking forwards to it. Knowing how much you guys are doing right now though I understand if it's a bit late.
  17. Well, it seems the Guild is a syndicate rather than an actual faction. I get the impression that syndicates will work with you taking a champion from that faction and gaining acces to a few new models in exchange. Most of the Guilds signature forces from malifaux (witchling stalkers, death marshalls, and austingers) are unique to Malifaux and won't be making an appearance. Guild will probably just have a bunch of standard mooks that you can field. I think they will basically serve as less trained freikorps. However they will probably still stick with the rules of the card that you took, which will be kinda funny with models from the court of two (please be gothic ghosts and vampires) eating giant fishes in order to become more powerful. It also feels that as more models were revealed people stopped the rampant speculation of new factions that will be released to focus on the ones currently revealed.
  18. Fenton, Margaret and the Lord of Steel are also 40mm.
  19. That has been there for a few days now, I am more interested in what we will learn when they actually put in the links. Seriously, when is that going to happen?
  20. Lindsey already did, and called it Cinnamon. It's not an official name, but is seems to have stuck.
  21. I honestly get the impression that the cult is the most popular faction at the moment, mainly due to how over the top each of the sculpts are. I just hope that the court of two lets you field elegant gothic vampires and ghosts, because then I would have literally zero reason to leave this faction for another. Unless Canada gets a factions, but who can blame me for that?
  22. Between Gorysche, the ECB black ops, gender equality (hey, I'm Canadian) and a titan commander I finally find myself going from, "cool faction but let's see what else is in the future" to: LONG LIVE THE BURNING MAN! Lets hope we can get ourselves some swordsmen in the future. I like swords.
  23. GW does have one thing that many other companies lack though, a world where you are encouraged to invent. The creation of new Chapters, Hive fleets, warbands, Dynasties etc. or to customize ones mentioned in passing by the fluff is really, really fun, and is the same reason that RWBY became so popular in the span of 3 years. That and well written fluff. Even if I don't like how unstoppable the tyranids and necrons are often made out to be. But warhammer feels like a game that realized long ago that balanced gameplay wasn't the reason people bought it. But even on Wyrd's side, the stretch goal map actually has a line moving onto another continent. There is another stretch goal map they are planning out. I honestly like Wyrd, they have a great community and feel really personable, but I really don't like how they handled this kickstarter.
  24. All companies are sales driven. Even Wyrd. It just matters on the methods they use to reach their goal.
  25. It comes from my current feelings about warhammer 40k, there are too many factions in that system to properly balance them all, and the varying attention that the faction receive's is also a factor.
