  1. Well, Toshiro also works with Lynch.
  2. Order placed, bot to Wyrd and giving my usual provider a little love, too. ..and suddenly I realize I have around 40 models to assemble, coming in...
  3. So, the order is in, and I'll soon be an official Resurrectionist player. Here's what I'll soon have: - Open Graves - Rotten Belles - Necropunks - Guild Autopsies - The Hanged - Archie -Toshiro - Mindless Zombies - Alt. Rafkin So, the main question is..what's next? I already know I'll be picking up McMourning's box for Nurses, the Flesh Construct, and a Canine Remains as my next purchase (and Rafkin likes Poison anyway, right?). Any glaring niches I've overlooked? Crooked Men seem wise given my only real opponents are Gremlin and Guild players, respectively... But yes, Quarantine Zone society, you now have a new neighbor!
  4. I am a huge Deadlands fan. So when I was looking at all the Masters, having decided to start playing: "Wait, there is a Huckster-flavored Master, with a side of Doc Holliday? Wait, he can hit for how much damage if set up properly? Wait, he has magical drug-addicts that are tanky as hell and hit like a truck for minions? Wait, his totem is a respawnable nightmare? And magic drug hookers? And ability names like 'Final Debt', 'Play For Blood', and '52 Card Pickup'?" ..and so it was Jakob Lynch became my first master.
  5. "Nico" seems trivially easy for the latter...
  6. I'm planning to snag Archie for my starter beater with my Black Friday purchases. Seems to have Nico synergy - but I admit,I just like him.
  7. She can make Mindless Zombies, I thought? That and I hear she's good at protecting bubbles and to my understanding Nico loves his death bubble?
  8. Since I've not seen her mentioned! What are thoughts on Anna Lovelace with Nicodem? She seems like she might have synergy, but I admit I'm not the best judge of such things by any possible means.
  9. I eyed Malifaux when it was new - but at the time had no real options for opponents to play a minis game. Then, as my oldest nephew - who might as well be a son to me, really - got older, he became a fiend for 40k lore and developed my taste for strategy games. Now, we both loved Deadlands (I'd run Reloaded games for him and a couple cousins), and frankly full-scale battle games felt both really expensive, and more than either of us were ready for. But he really wanted to become a tabletop minis gamer... so I remembered Malifaux. Bought us both Crews for his birthday this year back in the summer, bought the younger nephew (who doesn't live nearby) a Crew as well, and have been slowly infecting our gamer cousins with the game at family gatherings, mainly as a long-term-cheaper replacement for Magic as our go-to gathering game.
  10. In fairness, my 'local' game shop is 200 odd miles away and I specifically called and found they don't carry Malfaux.
  11. I like Johan for in-theme. Also Big Jake. Or both!
  12. I'm reading Philip's PMF entry and.. I'm not sure I see it? I see he can turn enemy scheme markers into corpse markers but.. is there something else I'm missing? I've heard that it's generally either Nico or Molly and that both are somewhat redundant, which is why I thought to just snag Crooligans? What are good in-faction Tarpits?
  13. Neither of my regular (read: only) opponents fields anything armored currently, and the one possible new convert I've managed is leaning Resser anyway, so Shikomes I'm not sold on the need for just yet. Seamus is definitely in the future - again when I was first reading about Malifaux when it was new, he was who I thought to go with. Mainly waiting to see what gets put available for Black Frieday SE-rerelease wise. Killjoy is a thought. I do play Outcasts. Not sure he's an immediate pick-up, though?
  14. I think I'm sold on the Spirit, thanks! So the expectation is less choking the board and more a slow, inexorable undead march? And some Canine Remains seem wise, yes.
  15. I do suppose Seamus would want for more Belles to summon anyhow? Or just go straight to Doxies? And.. Id id consider the Spirit.. but it seems a hard thing to give up long-distance summoning and corpse-grabbing up-field.. or is that a trap?
  16. The best laid plans... I have no summoner/support master in my collection, and had decided to use the Black Friday sale to tend that deficiency; as I already played Neverborn and have Masters that would benefit from his summons I was looking into the Dreamer... ...cue Wyrd revealing this sale's bonus figures. So when I first was looking into the possibility of Malifaux years ago I was firmly eyeing the Ressers (though Lynch lured me away when I finally started), but now... ..well you fine purloiners of putrefaction have such wonderful toys, and Wyrd has spoken. Time for my third faction... Anyhow, I've been reading PMF, listening to S&S, watching YouTube vids, and seeking advice on AWP... now, I come here into the Quarantine Zone proper. I've got the following shopping list, so far: - OPEN GRAVES (price of admission!) - MINDLESS ZOMBIES (Seems these are really useful) - TOSHIRO (Buffs minions, and can use him with Lynch as well) - GUILD AUTOPSIES (Guns and Mindless Zombie production. Plus, undead cowboys) - THE HANGED (Obligatory, I'm told. And I understand why, yikes!) - CROOLIGANS (Scheme Runners, and seem to have synergy with Punk Zombies?) - BETE NOIRE (Told she's not great with Nico because he likes his tens, but also told she's vicious and effective?) I'll probably pick up more Master boxes eventually - McMourning for Flesh Constructs and Nurses, Seamus for Belles, but right now I'd rather avoid that to focus on learning Nico. Are there any niches I've not thought of for summoning? I'm sort of eyeing the Dead Rider as a possibility, and maybe Canine Remains? The Iron Zombies are an 'eventually' but I'm not sure I need them up-front? Any Nico tips and tricks to share?
  17. Wish I could find a source for them. Nephew only has the four that came with his Som'er box. E-Bay turned up nothing though.
  18. I kinda see it as the fact fascism tends to be horribly inefficient, and these Guards are not quite as deserving of fine steeds as McCabe or the Marshal?
  19. I'm.. not seeing it? The humans all seem roughly the same size, and as someone who has lived around and raised equines all his life.. they do come in a wide-variety of sizes and builds. I can't imagine it is easy or cheap to bring horses through the Breach without mishap, so the guards would likely get ponies and less-robust and impressive breeds? Maybe? Makes sense to me, anyway?
  20. Okay, this may be a weird one! But due to an in-game incident, wherein one of his Bayou Gremlins nearly beat Lynch to death in melee, said Bayou Gremlin - 'El Kabong', or "E.K." henceforth is a beloved figure for my nephew / regular opponent, and I would love to help him stand out more. DO any of you fine green gentlemen and bayou belles know where one might procure a Bayou Gremlin-sized banjo base addition?
  21. So, seen this format mentioned numerous times, and from context it sounds useful for teaching new players some basics.. and with a potential new player coming over Saturday, it'dbe nice to be able to do a simpler demo. But I can't find the rules anywhere!
  22. I'm planning to pick up Dreamer at Black Friday, mainly because of cross-pollination with my two 'Born masters (Madnesses and Weaver for 'Dora, Stitched for Lynch) and the fact that my nephew (way back in the day when we first thought about jumping into Malifaux) loved the Kid. Ilike having two factions to cover the missing niches of each. That said, I'm of two minds. Partofwhat I love in the Outcasts is the Badass Normal vibe.Sure, some tech or magic weapons and such, but a lot of them are fighting and winning against supernatural horrors, mad mages, and undead nightmares with just blood, balls, and bullets. So magically calling up backup.. I'm not sure it appeals to me, pure-faction. But there are workarounds! Maybe a "Fixer" who can hire any Merc at cost and call in 'hidden agents' at scheme markers, a smooth operator who has laid plans down in advance (represented by summoning) and can call in Minions.. or pay a Soulstone (as we have ways to get more in-game) to hire Enforcers. Or a crime boss able to call up flunkies and rile the public into revolt.. though that might be more Arcanist?
  23. I'll further a recommendation for A Fistful of Scrip Two of the Bandidos are female, and they are a very solid minion I love more with each game I play with them - and Parker (I'm told) likes Ronin... Also Sue, and Johan(a) are solid.
