I've been playing friekorp predominantly since starting, and as stated above I feel like the real strength is in the versatility and the ability to stay in theme for the full benefit of buffs while staying ready for anything. However, I don't agree that von schill needs to run out on his own. That's one of the ways he can, but I usually play him in the bubble style where he stays with his men for most of the game. Typically that leads to a.. Sort of I wanna say viper strike situation. I'll spend the first two three turns moving up board while the enemy comes towards me(taking shots occasionally running a basic friekorpsmen out to tar, the trapper walks away just to reposition back) then von schill will break out charge into press and rip his shirt off then typically the rest of the crew moves to support). on the topic of schemes, I will usually take bodyguard...because it's pretty easy. However one of the best bits of advice I've seen on here(forgot from who) was that with the friekorps you goal shouldn't be that you get alot of points but rather that your opponent gets fewer than you. So typically that means taking stuff that is more dependent on your models than your position... Or depending on the strategy where the action will likely happen. as those above stated I've always felt like you only really need one heavy hitter in a list. The rest should be 8 or less. Never underestimate the base line friekorpsmenn.

Oh! Also taelor's hammerfall(?) is awesome for getting those little stalkers away aswell as maybe killing them. Haven't had much experience against death Marshalls. My friendly neighborhood Sonia player never uses them.

As a vik usual, I can feel his annoyance. One of the important things is to remember that the viks always need each other. Order of operations is very important in a vik crew. With the different hand sizes you need for them to get positive flips, you also gotta watch your hand. The ronin are great, they'll just need to spread out and make use of their defensive stance. Even though their gun isn't great, if you're already in melee with a stalker they can always Daito next target then shoot the stalker and hope it does not chase. On turn 1 taelor is going to want to activate early so that she can use welcome to malifaux. That way she can start punishing new stalkers sooner (which is why I always give her Talley sheet when I'm fighting..... Well anything that summons. Its a 3ft diameter soulstone against Leveticus.)

Wyrd sells those awesome translucent bases.. If these were the size to fit in those (as above have done) that would absolutely be the best.

The fact that my precious viks nor von schill were on cards kept me from buying one of those older decks... That and the new decks being so awesome(arcane fate decks, and the retro). Though if they released a deck with outcasts I would immediately buy it. .. Though to be honest, not quite sure where they would best fit.. . .. maybe the red and black jokers? They're not quite ram(they don't even have a ram trigger).

Do I really need the Wave 2 arsenal deck?
Sancho of Rime replied to CapnBloodbeard's topic in The Outcasts
As a fellow hired sword/guns player.... I would say so. However that may just be because I love having the cards and all the upgrades. It's also pretty great if you wanna proxy a bit before purchasing a model. Might cost a tiny bit more but it'll make sure you get exactly what you want. -
As a primarily vik player, I can imagine some good use out of Alyce. Essentially a ranged taelor. However since the viks are melee monsters I would personally run her to the far sides of the table to pick off the scheme runners and anchor type models. A turn of fast running and she could easily not have to move again. ... ... .. student of conflict fast first turn, then a oathkeeper fast afterwards. .. not to mention that her being able to make some abominations would be nice for some tarpits. Give the viks time to slaughter around the important models while the ronin and abominations slow down the rest... That or Alyce just blows away the small ones.
