  1. I was talking about getting high value cards, not a high number of cards. Although I did mention it right after talking about hand size so I see the confusion. I know the cards that Sensei Yu discards get shuffled back in. I think that's the kind of play style better suited for Neverborn Lynch. I think TT crew composition lends well to being in the enemy crew face, and bringing Lynch along is part of that. Also, Huggy is super easy to bring back with the Rising Sun, so I feel like there's no reason for him not to go hard. Lynch has the right hand every turn of the game in TT. That's my point. Which is why TT Lynch crews support Lynch. Rather than Neverborn Lynch where he supports the crew. It's incredibly easy to get the right conditions with him in TT. I can count on one hand the number of times I've had less than 6 cards in hand and less than 3 aces by the time I activate Lynch. Because TT supports his card draw and ace shenanigans so much better than Neverborn crews. And that could be why you feel Lynch is out of place in TT. I think you want to support him in the wrong ways.
  2. In Neverborn, Lynch supports his crew. In Ten Thunders, the crew supports Lynch. Two completely different styles and different crew selection. I think Beckoners are a bad choice in TT Lynch crews, but they're a great choice in Neverborn. If you play TT Lynch like you would in Neverborn, you're going to have a bad time. My Lynch crews have little to no terrifying (besides Huggy and the one illuminated I occasionally take). I don't think you need to take a lot of terrifying models in a Lynch crew to be effective. In fact, I would say if you're doing that, you're building the wrong crew. Lynch does not need lure in TT at all. Sensei Yu gets him wherever he needs to be and gives him fast to boot. Lynch can kill both Lelu and Lilitu in one activation. All he needs is 3 AP and to be within 6" of one and 8" of the other. Let's assume Lelu is within 6" and Lilitu is within 8". Lynch has Woke up with a Hand and 52 Card Pickup. I almost always have at least 3 aces by the end of the turn, and Lynch typically goes last for 2 more cards. It's quite common for me to have 8-10 cards in my hand by the end of the turn. Getting high cards is super easy because Sensei Yu can copy Mulligan and then Lynch can Mulligan again. 1. Play for Blood with Lelu, give Lelu brilliance. Lelu is at 6 wounds. 2. Play for Blood with Lilitu, give Lilitu brilliance. Lilitu is at 5 wounds. 3. Final Debt Lilitu, and kill her. At the end of Lynch's activation, he discards 3 aces via 52 Card Pickup and deals 6 damage to Lelu to kill him. It requires good positioning, but again with Sensei Yu, it's pretty easy. Even if he's not quite in position, give him fast and he can walk once to get where he needs to.
  3. I'll be at Adepticon this year and I was wondering if Wyrd typically needs volunteers for this event? I haven't seen an announcement, but I wanted to double check because I have nothing going on Friday and I would love to help out with demos or the booth. Has anyone been and volunteered in the past?
  4. No problem! I would recommend joining the Malifaux PDX Facebook group.
  5. Yes, Friday night Malifaux at Guardian Games is still a thing. Although Tuesday nights at The Portland Game Store are also a thing. I can't really make it to Guardian on Fridays, so I play almost exclusively on Tuesdays. There's a good crowd at The Portland Game Store. We're wrapping up our final week of a Shifting Loyalties campaign right now, so we'll be back to playing non-campaign games this next Tuesday.
  6. Obsidian Oni can discard a card to heal a model that has an upgrade, if I recall correctly. Discard an ace and get a heal for free. Not the most amazing synergy with Lynch, but it's something at least.
  7. The upside to using Sensei Yu is being able to give Lynch fast. Emissary can't give Lynch fast. So it depends on whether you want to be able to give Lynch fast or not. I personally take the extra AP on Lynch so I bring Sensei Yu over the Emissary.
  8. While it does have the word cake in its name, it is made with a crust. Plus the non-crust part of the cheesecake is more akin to a filling than it is a cake. But then again, the filling does use flower to thicken it, but it doesn't bake into a cake-like substance. Hmmm, I'm still not sure.
  9. I would recommend getting one samurai from Gadzooks, if that's an option. I will almost always take a Samurai with Lynch. Very often with Shenlong (Samurai make good Misdirection targets). I tend to not take Samurai against Ressers or Neverborn though because of having only 4 WP. Other than that, I get a lot of mileage out of mine.
  10. I wouldn't get Ten Thunder archers. Not for a new player at least. I would recommend Ten Thunders Brothers and Samurai. Mr. Graves is another good choice. I also wouldn't recommend Beckoners. Mostly because they can only be used by Lynch and they're not that great.
  11. Maybe I'm missing something, but terracotta warriors can't swap 0 cost upgrades?
  12. Kang, because he's a sturdy Henchman beater and he can really buff the rest of a crew when facing constructs or undead. He provides extremely solid utility in addition to providing the beatdown. He does have a low walk.
  13. Hey all, I'm looking for a TTB Hannah. Let me know if any of y'all are willing to part with one.
  14. You won't actually get charged for the amount you add. At least I didn't. My credit card got charged $1 and at the end of the process, there was a message that said that I would be charged on April 30th if I remember correctly. As for changing your backerkit selections, I'm not sure.
  15. I'm currently using Hoffman's avatar in our Shifting Loyalties campaign because I'm running Hoffman. After the campaign is over, I'd like to convert the Avatar by replacing Hoffman with a broken construct. The guardian scale isn't right, so I couldn't really chop up a guardian. (Well maybe I could only include the head and torso and maybe an arm or leg). I also thought about a hunter, but I'm still tossing around that idea. Any other ideas on a construct? Maybe a steampunk robot miniature from somewhere else? My googling has not resulted in a good steampunk robot though. I also have an extra watcher. I really like the conversion above, but I'd like to only replace Hoffman if possible.
  16. Yeah it's an entire AP spent without actually guaranteeing a suit. I think I'll still try it out a time or two. Also, are you thinking of targeting systems upgrade? That only adds rams to Ml and Sh actions. It doesn't work with machine puppet
  17. I sometimes use High River Monks with McCabe against Ressurs/Neverborn because of HRM's immunity to terror checks during its activation. Plus an additional attack on the charge. And even then, that doesn't happen all too often. I would say you're fine not building/painting High River Monks.
  18. Definitely a neat trick! That could remove a lot of enemy resources. I've also been throwing an idea around recently. With the On Site Assimilation upgrade, Hoffman can use a construct's (0) action. He hires a large arachnid and copies the (0) Temporary Limb upgrade to get to all flips for the rest of the activation (needs a Scheme or Scrap marker). I haven't tried it out yet but I'm wondering if that could help Hoffman get suits he needs? With a Metal Gamin looped in and some constructs nearby, he's at Ca 10 and at most needs a 4+. An extra flip could be the suit he needs. Also more chances for the Black Joker though. It does take 1 AP to set up, but Hoffman is already getting an extra AP from another model due to On Site Assimilation. Is it worth getting the extra positive flips?
  19. I didn't notice the trigger. Thanks! That could help offset taking the damage from get fast from Hoffman too. I'm envisioning the Emissary putting up the aura with the trigger, and then Hoffman handing out fast with Machine Puppet. The now fast constructs can heal up the 2 damage they took from getting fast. It's too bad Master Queeg can only make friendly minions take a (0) action. Otherwise he could make the Emissary throw the aura up before activating.
  20. Tell me more about Robo-Mom! How is the emissary able to heal other models?
  21. I second using the starter set for demos. The quick rule book has 5 scenarios that build on each other in complexity. I was able to get through 4 of the scenarios the other day in about 2.5-3 hours with a new player. I feel like the player came out understanding a lot more of the game than he would have if I had thrown him into a full game right away. Basically, I can't recommend the starter set enough as a way to demo Malifaux.
  22. I feel like it's really hard to determine whether the model is required to take an action or not. Since the action does not say "If the model pushes, then it takes a shoot action" or something similar. "Push the model then take a shoot action" is a bit ambiguous as to whether "then" is a logical "If this then that". "Then" could just be a timing statement rather than a logical flow statement. If it's a timing statement, it just determines when something can happen. If "then" is a logical statement, then I would interpret that as meaning the shoot action must be taken if possible. I don't know if any of that made sense. I just think the meaning of "then" in actions is ambiguous as to whether what follows "then" is required or not.
  23. Well it was generated by the Charge action. Charge generates an attack action, the attack action generates an additional attack. Without the original Charge action, the additional attack action would not have been generated. So you could say that the additional attack was generated by the Charge action from a certain logical perspective. Charge = Attack Action 1, Attack Action 1 = Attack Action 2, therefore Charge = Attack Action 2. Just replace = with generates. That's my argument for having to the attack. I'm not sure it's 100% settled though, so I've been playing it that the additional attack does not receive for the time being.
  24. I wasn't around for the Nythera event. Was there anything in the event that would lead us to believe he'll be affiliated with the M&SU and have the Construct characteristic? I'm crossing my fingers Hoffman can hire him The model is super cool
