  1. In a non competitive setting I'd agree, but tournament places are often decided by a VP or two.
  2. Also paid! Note of interest, this will be my 6th Tournament all of which Connor will have also attended. Going for for that second 'Present' badge on the ranking in a row bud?
  3. Was also keen, still no updated payment or entrant info?
  4. I would agree with papa smurf. Immunity is not a reduction so pandora wouldn't effect them. I don't have the card in me but the freikorps suit doesn't say reduces all damage from pulses and auras to zero does it? Just that they're immune to it?
  5. Get rid of the cursed object and distract conditions how? They're insignificant minions meaning they can be targeted by the schemes but never interact to remove the conditions. And as they're hardly a damage threat your opponent likely won't care about leaving them alive the whole game if it guarantees them 3VP.
  6. I'm not sure what the poster you quoted was referring to but although the tree markers arnt dense the Waldgeists are on 40mm bases. If you run them up together with bases touching and germinate tree infront they make a really good shield. 80mm across with cover, armour 2 and negatives against shooting in further turns as long as they don't activate before the main shooting threats. The only real threat is Ht3 shooters who can see over the Waldgeists.
  7. I wasn't trying to argue either way I was just wondering if the rule book had a definition of 'result' in this context as I'm at work and couldn't find out myself. I can see both sides of the argument and was hoping a page could be found that called it one way or the other as I can't presently check.
  8. I'm at work so don't have the rulebook but unless 'result' is defined in there I'd say it's debatable if the attack is a result of the child's cast or not. I would agree it's not a DIRECT result of it but if there is no distinction between 'direct result' and 'result' I can see how it could be argued a result of the original 'just like me' which allows you to prompt the extra attack which leads to a damage flip.
  9. It actually says the casting itself gets a + but any resulting damage flips gain a -ive . I had presumed since it was copying prompt and not killjoys attack then killjoy would NOT gain the -ive but I don't have the card at hand to double check the wording.
  10. Even better is companion with leap! You can't even tie them up to stop them picking up the heads. I've not played any of my neverborn crews yet but Marcus and at least one silurid is my staple for HH.
  11. Raspy is a good choice when facing gremlins in general. Lots of Ht1 stuff for the wedigo MI7 devour, take some hoarcats too who also like to devour and are especially good against shooting with small target and gremlins tend to rely on range. Lots of the gremlin models and synergies rely on being close together for auras and buffs so Raspys blasts are great against this coupled with the fact they often have lots of low cost minions who can potentially die outright to blast markers. I'm not saying it's a guarantee or anything close but the ice queen is often my first thought if I know I'm facing the gremlin faction.
  12. Great report Paul, i'ts Mark, your originally drawn opponent for round 3 on Sunday before the swap and somewhat bemused spectator on the neighbouring table for your game 2 against kai Great to get an insight into your thoughts during the games, we had a good chat at the end of the event about Malifaux in general but nice to see the individual in game decisions. Well deserved finishes in both events and a special mention on how you handled your game with Kai. I couldn't help but overhear most of it from the next table and both you and Nate did the best you could in the situation. He's obviously still a young lad and to be fair to him, he seemed to come to the right decision in the end and im sure it'll only help him grow in future events. Shame I didn't get to play you in the final game on Sunday and get my moment of fame on the forum battle report, maybe next time mate
  13. Just the crew deployment one the OP mentioned that I can think of.
  14. Fully agree. Was an awesome days gaming (I only attended the Sunday event). If you ever get chance to attend an event run by Nate I'd fully recommended it, been at two now and both ran faultlessly.
  15. Effectively? Sure. Optimally? Almost certainly not. The arcanist beasts are a great place to start but I've not played a game I can remember that didn't include at least one out of faction beast. As well as giving my backing to the waldgeist their fellow neverborn Silurid is the scheme runner of all scheme runners. If you plan on placing multiple scheme or claim markers it's the best 7ss you can buy. After those I'd say the rogue necromancy and canine remains are my other most used non arcanist beasties. The former to hand out pain both up close and at range and the remains are a cheap fast runner for 4ss who can turn other models into beasts for the game and the hard to wound will mean most models take at least a couple of swings to take them down.
  16. Also worth noting that although you must change in a straight line, it doesn't specify 'directly towards' so you can charge to one side of a model as long as you end up in melee range of one of your attacks and moved in a straight line.
  17. Must be the time of night, I had looked through the FAQ before posting but admittedly was skimming, must have missed it. Cheers!
  18. Ok so i think I have a decent grasp on the rules of the game but ran into a situation today that I wasn't sure about. The trigger on the suits carrack states: Pneumatic actuator - damage from this attack may not be reduced. I know this stops a lot of defensive abilities: armour and the pesky riders armour like ability as these are all clearly "reductions" Hard to kill - while this model has 2 or more Wd remaining when it suffers damage, it may not be reduced below 1 Wd. So, if I hit a model with 3 wounds left for 4 damage with the trigger does it die? Does stopping on 1 wound count as damage "reduction" per say or is it something completely different? Personally I'm inclined to say the hard to kill model doesn't die and stays on 1 one as there is no mention of actually reducing the damage but can see how only allowing me to do three damage instead if four is a reduction of sorts.
  19. I also prefer to start guaranteed summoning turn 1 and usually go for the method of paying 4ss for an electrical creation, walking it to leave it where it needs the scrap markers to be. Then if I don't need joss to walk 10 his turn he shoots it creating 2 scrap markers. If I need joss to move in a hurry turn 1 (which I rarely do as I use him as a centre field tank most of the time) then either Ramos or a metal gamin can magnetise for a zero and create one scrap. Either way I have the scrap markers exactly where I want them and Ramos hasn't had to spend a single ap doing so, and starting the spider factory off turn one is worth 4ss any day of the week, as any 8 in hand guarantees two spiders.
  20. It is yeah, can't take it when declaring arcanists and using him with Marcus. He does love it when people push a 4 wound scheme runner up behind some terrain, then blasts it with the positive to cancel out the cover, do 3 weak and kill it at the end of the turn with poison 1 though Ht3 particularity great for that and it works amazingly well against incoporial. Pulled it off against a couple of void wretches in a tournament a few weeks ago.
  21. I love Marcus and he's become my go to master both in tournament and a friendly game setting but his box set is hardly a great start for playing games with on its own as it really lacks any sort of cheap scheme runner. While it's fun to play with all the big beasts Marcus has GREAT scheme runner choices which you should include in most crews. From his box set Myranda and the sabre tooth and the stand out choices. I rarely run cojo although he does have his place in turf war and I don't rate the rattler much myself. As Marcus and the sabretooth are fighting for tomes I find one kitty to be all I need and usually find myself not starting with a single sabretooth on the board as myranda with imbued energies is the same cost with free card draw and as she can only turn into arcanist beast, it's usually the sabretooth. Instead I like to start with the rogue necromancy, it puts out similar damage to the sabretooth but trades his movement tricks for a tougher defence and a ranged attack. Terrifying 13 will often drain a decent card from your opponent and impossible to wound means he will be sticking around longer. About that ranged attack; it's great!! Built in positive flips means you ignore cover and have min damage 3 and hands out poison to boot. Then with the SS saved from cojo and the rattler you can start to look at scheme runners and the best place to start (possibly in the whole of Malifaux) is the silurid. Best leap in the game needing only a 5 of any suit is insane! And with perfect camo they can be hard to tie down and kill. Often a great idea to pair silurids with molemen. Nice ittle tanky scheme runner with deceptive speed once your silurids drops a turn one marker 8" away giving the molemen chance for a free move up the bord. Waldgeists are great as I'm sure you've noticed, tanky minions who bring mobile cover and the ability to lock down a huge area with a 4'' melee range. So I guess my main advice is to not take too many big beasts but have a decent spread of hitters and scheme runners. With Marcus kitted up with trail of the gods and domesticate, the necro and myranda's ability to turn into a sabretooth you have plenty of models capable of handing out a world of pain, and often as long as assassinate isn't in the pool Marcus is best used in the thick of it killing and distracting while you're cheaper runners get you all the VP. Although Movement 8 Marcus is also a fantastic way to guarantee entourage or help with claims markers
  22. Yeah I hadn't noticed there was a page 2 of the thread when I replied to Maria, saw it after it had gone up! Seems like a sensible solution.
  23. Maybe run the Sunday as one single event and the highest placed finisher out of the top 8 from the Saturday event wins the title? That way it guarantees a decent field for Sunday and not two small events? Hopefully this won't matter and people will sign up over the next month but certainly something that needs considering.
  24. I generally play Marcus for headhunter. Firstly his crew has a decent list of things with accomplice and companion. It has lots of 'free' movement with leap which can be great as the markers cannot be placed in base contact, kill something, placemarker, leap to it, pick the head up. and a decent amount of things with high engagement ranges (looking at you Waldgeists) to lock down head markers you cant pick up and stop the opponent doing the same. All these great attributes for the strat in a crew that by its nature is fast moving and hard hitting!
