  1. I tried to use Mako's Tips about spot colors on these models. I know Blue and Orange are opposite. Since I am using a blue/green, I was hoping the orange highlights would provide some spot color contrast.
  2. really, really nice I like that guy with his leg turned up and his pants just look really dingy but fitting.
  3. oh yeah, it's on now, got my lightbox built and set up. Way better pictures. I was so disappointed cause I know they look so much better in person than what I've been representing. Feedback is always appreciated. Yan Lo Guild Lawyers
  4. wow- I just got done painting my own terror tots and yours blow mine away. REally smooth transitions here. Did you use glazes for that? Damn.
  5. hey! Always nice to see this thread pop up. I can't see the pic at the moment (blocked at my work) but I'll be back later to check it out.
  6. I have this bookmarked for later for just this purpose. Maybe it will be useful to others as well http://tabletop-world.com/deadTree.php
  7. It is definitley a technique that can turn out great. Case in point
  8. OH, that sucks, but exactly what I was thinking, and the robes could be freehand for some asian stuff
  9. I went off looking for you (cause I hadn't ever thought of it) and found this
  10. Agree on the base. From the photo on the box, it feels like he's really big, then I opened and was like, "He's puny". So I built the base up more hoping it simulated exploding out of the ground.
  11. Little update. I went back and forth with the skin as I couldn't really settle on a good look. I tried reverse highlighting with white washes in the shadows (as fire is highlighted this way) hoping it would appear to glow but it didn't look quite right. Then I went with a kabalite green (GW) but I didn't like that either. So I washed it all over with white and a hint of Nihlakh oxide (GW technical) which is sorta flourescent blue/green.
  12. Great idea dude. That's pretty much the motto everyone is living by these days. Gotta keep working to get that money to pay for gas so I can go to work. lol I like your terrain techniques, especially the flocking and ground texture. How did you do that? I just figured out after painting my paint station, that spray paint eats into foam but not too much, so it gives a great texture just from the overspray. The only thing I might have done different is keep the uniforms the same, so blue pants for the crooked men, but that's just a minor critque. Did you use photoshop to collage the pictures together?
  13. So I finally got my rack in the mail (which ships from Australia) and got it painted and assembled. Here are some pics and my review. I was hesitant about painting the MDF board at first because I wasn't sure if it was going to warp, but after some testing, it took the paint just fine. I chose Rust Oleum Cabernet Stain as I didn't really like the color that the laser cut came in. (they also have Acrylic but since I'm building my man cave in all wood, this is what I chose.) I put on one coat of stain and 2 coats of clear protective enamel. There are options for dropper bottles or GW post 2012 (shown here) (and 2 other choices) My main gripe is that since I store my bottle upside down to prevent drying out, they don't slide in quite as smooth as the dropper bottles. The dropper bottles themselves also have very small holes in the tray below for the dropper bottle lid to go in if you do want to put them upside down. However, the bottom rows do not have this. As you can see from this picture, I have some GW bottles upside down and I think they fit better. So if I could go back, I'd just go with dropper bottle format all over. You'll have more storage that way. The Large Tidy Draw has 4 drawers with one large compartment and 4 smaller compartments (separated by dividers). The system is highly modular with rare earth magnets being used to stick everything together. The assembly design is pretty neat as well with out the nut and bolts hold everything together. Price - I was pleasantly suprised to learn on checkout that I would not be paying $220 plus since their webiste is priced in Australian Dollars so in the end, I paid $175 with free shipping. they only offer free shipping if you buy the complete rack set, but you can add on additional things and still qualify for free shipping.
