  1. That is a factor, indeed. Kind of a shame if her neck would indeed look that weird. I like her Lara Croft vibe quite a bit, and she had nice chemistry with Lucas in their story in the Thunders book. The renders of the Hucksters have weird necks as well, but I never had a chance to look at the actual models. If they turned out alright, maybe there's a chance for Jessie?! 😅
  2. . Oh, I wasn't trying to be negative. I own her Core Boxes as well (both Standard and 1988) and I'm sure she's a blast to play in Thunders! Just thought it would be useful to know since the original poster didn't provide any information on how competitive he wanted to play. Yeah that (re)packaging thing can be an issue. I feel for players who would like Jessie Haliday for their Ten Thunders Wastrels and end up with an Alpinist and a Bellhop Porter to sell second hand. I could become one of them. 😅
  3. Sure Mei is "fine" in Thunders, but without any actual experience I would still dare to assume that there may be situations in which she'd like an Arachnid Swarm or a Mechanical Rider. And that's only optional if you run her as an Arcanist. Lone Swordsman is getting re-released in March as part of the 'Silent Strike' box, together with Samurai.
  4. Awesome! While I wasn't too fond of Yan Lo's ME3 redesign, you (and other amazing painters here) made me really change my mind! 😃 Just one thing: I love the subtle green OSL, but wouldn't the green tint on his left hand be a little more strong than the green on the face, due to it being closer to the light source? (Sorry, I know it's stupid from me to try to constructively criticise your execution when I couldn't paint a halfway decent OSL effect if my life depended on it) Anyways, I love him!
  5. Thank you, that was interesting and at least gave me an idea of what I've been missing so far. You could have added that Youko gave Misaki the advise to check out what was going on in the Honeypot at the end of the Three Riddles story in the Ten Thunders faction book. While Lynch is not present there, it at least gives us a direction on what might be on the table for him.
  6. Your basic tabletop paint jobs are still amazing and way better than me on my best day. 😂
  7. Welcome to the esteemed halls of the Ten Thunders, the true power in Malifaux. I can't offer any actual experience but I can extend advise that was offered to me. It's probably sensible to start getting all the boxes for your keyword(s) and start playing a few games to get a feeling for what the master and the keyword want to do. I think Misaki would be your best bet since Last Blossom offers a lot of different options for almost any situation: fast beaters, decent shooters, quick schemers and even some in-keyword summoning in the form of Minako Rei. If you start feel like you need more durable fire power, get Samurai or Fuhatsu. If your opponent likes to torture you with status effects or you'd like healing and more focus, get Tanuki or Sun Quiang (who might also be a good starting point for branching out into Yan Lo). Mei Feng needs constructs and is believed to better in Arcanists. However, a fun take with her might be to try a list containing a Dawn Serpent and an Obisidian Statue to really cash in on the Burning mechanic, but that's probably not too competitve. I basically don't know anything about Shenlong, sorry. 😅 Hope that helped a little bit.
  8. You did fine, Shawn. And I agree. And Kharnage and I are cool with each other, if anyone's bothered.
  9. You should vote. If you don't, your country might end up being governed by insane, sexist orange psychopaths. And that might effect you. Virtue-signaling is usually understood as claimimg to support a certain progressive agenda to garner favor without actually meaning it. Conservatives like to use it to undermine opinions e.g. when non-LGBT people support the community.
  10. @Harlekin Thanks for clarifying and sorry for reacting so petty. But I was writing with best intentions, so that 'Actually you're just reinforcing oppressive stereotypes' (or so I took it) really hurt. I do respect your expertise, but I feel like the logical conclusion to your arguments would be to not even try our hands at respectful representation whatsoever, and that's not really getting us anywhere either.
  11. Cool. Now I feel talked down upon and even a little insulted and embarassed. I didn't mean my take on LGBT Mei in a 'Martial Arts chick's totally butch yo' way. I thought that she'd be a good character as she's probably one of the few masters in Malifaux that one could sympathise with and because her design isn't very sexualized and neither too gender-specific in either way of the spectrum. But I guess as I am merely a historian and 85% straight I am probably not qualified to voice my opinion on what might be appropriate represantation of LGBTQ characters.
  12. So, Jakob Lynch is done, which means the Core Box is complete. Pictures aren't vrry kind to my paint jobs.. Edit: Almost forgot: @Caedrus 15 Soulstones done. Will probably try to add a Depleted for the 1 day challenge.
  13. Interesting thread. First of all I agree with the sentiment of rather avoiding phrases like 'virtue-signalling to LGBTQ+ people'. It raises red flags because you immideately come across like those 'anti-sjw' types who idolize Ben Shapiro and Jordan Peterson and are all in all just plain bad people. On the topic of the Ullix Nightmare Crew I'm with ManiacalCackle and think it's a popculture reference to My Little Pony - Friendship is Magic, just like Nightmare Molly is Pirates of the Caribbean, Nightmare Mei is Cyberpunk and Nightmare McCabe is Mad Max. Unicorns and My Little Pony aren't quite my cup tea either, and I think it's fine to just discuss when you don't get a certain aesthetic or kind of humor. I personally really dislike Fuhatsu, because I feel like his mental disability is played for laughs with the whole 'can't keep up his pants' thing. So I'm thankful for Miss Guided. In reference to LGBTQ+ characters, I would have really liked Mei Feng to be homo- or bisexual. She's tough, carries a certain unisex vibe of femininity (if that makes sense), and is all in it for her people. Not too keen on her having a thing for English Ivan, but it is what it is. Will be interesting to see where her story goes.
  14. Excellent, amazing work, and in such a small amount of time! 😃 I have only one very small point of criticism: Toshiro is a little too green for my taste. He's even greener than the turtle. But that's just a question of color scheme, not of skill or technique.
  15. Oh, I was more looking to find answers regarding psychological and emotional impact. I for one am more interested in the aesthetic, the setting and the characters than the actual mechanics. Still market changes are an interesting data point to find out what might have happened to the player base. Speaking about Warmachine and Hordes: Are they dead? Something seems to have happened but I have no clue what. Age of Sigmar seems to be doing quite well, though I know a few people who were pretty upset about the end of the old WHFB setting. I hope Jakob is not the next on the chopping block, from a lore perspective. Nekima wants his head, and Youko pointed the new Oyabun's attention towards the goings-on in the Honeypot... PS: I'm German too, but I have no idea how Malifaux is doing hierzulande, to be honest. I'm in the process of establishing a mini gaming group of 4 people, but the pandemic makes it hard to keep people interested.
  16. But you do get that there's a slight difference between maybe prematurely calling a Master broken and ranting like Kharnage did, and outright accusing someone of lying and manipulating like you did?!
  17. I think it's a bit bold to suggest that Kharnage and others are playing bad on purpose in order to paint Cadmus in a bad light. You are basically saying they are manufacturing games for their agenda, which I find quite rude. So maybe you wanna rephrase?! I'm sure that's not how you wanted it to come across..
  18. Thanks for the answers so far! I'm a bit suprised that there are just so few contributions on something that I thought a majority of the active players would have gone through, but maybe everyone's busy getting in those sweet, sweet Cadmus games on Vassal. 😅 I remember getting the M2E rules book but the group dissolved basically at that point. McMourning in Guild was a really fun and unique concept. Similarly I found Lynch more unique in Thunders, since a lot of the stuff in his keyword has this gruesome aesthetic that makes you think more of Neverborn. Back then I was in the process of assembling a Hamelin crew and really wanted to dig deeper into the spooky children stuff with Stolen and Crooligans, who he could hire via an Upgrade. Also got Killjoy for the easy Rat sacrifice summon. But those options are off the table in ME3, and I've switched factions.
  19. Some things are also just flat out not possible by regular game rules, like Von Schill and the Freikorps plus Tara, Hans and Vanessa versus Hamelin, Benny, a Rat King and approximately six hundred Stolen in 'A Disease Divided'. But it would certainly be a cool looking game table for a skirmisher.
  20. Man, you really made that violet pop! Awesome job!
  21. Greetings! I got back into the game a few months ago, when M3E wasn't all that new anymore, and it needed a little adjustment to backtrack what had happened to some of the major characters in the story line. So Ramos is imprisoned in Vienna and the Machina keyword is mostly gone. Nicodem was killed by Lady Justice and some of his models are gone, so now there seems to be no Zombie-centric master. Nekima overthrew Lilith and got promoted to Nephilim leader. Jakob Lynch left the Neverborn, Misaki abandoned the Outcasts, the Guild fired McCabe, McMourning is Resser-only, and probably some other shifts I don't recall right now. I'd imagine this must have gad quite the impact on some players' collections and especially on fans of those masters that are now presumably gone for good. And I know that you can technically still play Dead Man's Hand, but it must feel pretty bad if the main storyline considers your favorite mortician dead. So I wonder: How did players react? Did some even quit the game? Are you worried for your favorite Master now? Looking forward to a healthy discussion without too much salt or finger-pointing.
  22. Just read over at the ES subforum that you could Obey the Malisaurus, make it use the Tail Whip and declare the Territorial trigger, so that this lovely 10 Stone model sits on its tail for a round and at least doesn't bite stuff to death.
  23. @Engorn Amazing! Such smooth transitions and vibrant colors! Just masterful!
  24. You... you dare to forsake the Thunder?! I am aghast! Out with you, foreign devil! Out, I say!
  25. Buuuut, Nekima can get Brilliance tokens by Jakob's friendly handshakes, wild nights with Beckoners et cetera, so she's not immune to it the way Jakob is, ergo not fit for being the Darkness' vessel. But I apologize for talking crap about your mistress. I do agree she's a cool character and I really dig her spitefulness. In regards to the prophecy: I don' t know enough about Euripides. Does he lie? And wouldn't Titania want to keep Jakob or rather the Hungering Darkness close, to keep it under control? If not, wouldn't she want the Dreamer dead too then?
