    CANCELLED

Event cancelled due to lack of interest. Never mind, will think of something else!
  3. The inevitable question! Wave 5, yes or no? If yes, almost certainly will be there.
  4. Yeah. No. Don't do that. I'm not one to say 'take him' or 'don't take her' but I really, really wouldn't recommend Hans in Guild. We just don't need him. Look at Austringers (even after the Cuddle), Death Marshall Recruiters, Master Queeg or even McTavish. You lose a bit in range but gain so much more with each of them.
  5. Personally I'd love to see the plastic Peacekeeper given the Nekima treatment. This was the first Malifaux model I ever preordered and sadly remains the most disappointing. I hate to use this particular terminology but the plastic Peacekeeper looks like the metal model's mildly retarded anorexic cousin. It just isn't very scary. I took a picture of the two next to each other - the painted one is my metal, the unpainted is the plastic that was sold shortly after the photo was taken. https://www.dropbox.com/s/4lixfhyvtqt13lr/Peacekeeper Compare.jpeg?dl=0 As a result, even though it's heavy, fragile and prone to arms falling off apparently at random, I'm still using my trusty metal Peacekeeper Lord Stompy Bits.
  6. With the Ramos box, build the spiders in swarms. With a Ml7 model looped in you really won't be disappointed! I'd recommend a Peacekeeper ASAP, with Ryle, Rail Golem and the Emissary on the 'when funds allow' list. To get best use out of Hoffman, try to use him in cycles. First turn, activate him early to get his upgrades and power loops out there. Second turn, you want him going late to heal up his crew, and then activate him early third turn to use power loops etc. Repeat turns 2 & 3 for 4 & 5. This way you get as much use as possible out of his upgrades and power loops. That's how I've got best use out of him anyway. He does me proud every time I put him on the table, even in fixed Master events with relic hammers everywhere - they have to be alive to swing those hammers... Not sure anything I've seen so far in the new upgrades changes how I'd use him. They give him some cool new options but they don't fundamentally change how he works.
  7. Lucius is bloody awesome and even more so with wave 5. Didn't realise anyone still thought he wasn't a strong pick.
  8. Bought me a Scorpius, and messed with the model so the legs are spread wide and the body is closer to the ground. Looks much more evil. Plus I think if there's a model designed to screw with poison victims, this is it. Models with Poison activate, immediately suffer Poison damage courtesy of Catalyst, and then immediately gain Slow (and hence only 1AP) if Scorpius is nearby. Also, he can be really nasty if a model is already Slow. Hit the built-in trigger on one of his 0 actions and they either take 4 damage or gain Paralyse. And thanks to Allison Dade and Field Reporters and Hunters we have a lot of Slow...
  9. Allison Dade and a pack of Hounds is a thing I'm dropping into many crews at the moment and it's proving to be really funny. She drops scheme markers (Transparency) off targets which lets the dogs charge in and get 3 attacks, and them being there means there are Guardsmen present for her attacks. Throwing her a Glowing Sabre can be amusing too... McCabe is the Hound king. Or rather Luna is the Hound queen. They're just so much more useful with him than Nellie because they can always scheme run whilst being in the relevant table quarter. With Nellie you're much more restricted because there have to be at least 2 in the same area to interact. I'd disagree over board control. Propaganda has to be cast and can be resisted. Badge of Speed doesn't and McCabe is ridiculously mobile. With the right set-up a McCabe crew can be extremely hard to catch up with and there's very little an opponent can do about it. Nellie's control elements need to be cast, and if you have my card luck it's not uncommon to have turns where she doesn't actually accomplish anything. I have never had that with McCabe. Granted, my bias is probably against Nellie. I just didn't find her that much fun. I'll still pick her in games, but the table quarters ones are all about horses and dogs for me.
  10. Surprise surprise, I'm going to go and disagree with Trikk again. My experience with the two Masters is that McCabe is quite happy to have his crew spread out, and he makes weaker models much stronger courtesy of throwing out upgrades. Nellie makes stronger models do more but isn't so happy when you need to cover a huge amount of ground. McCabe is still my Interference / Recon go-to and I can't see that changing.
  11. Played both extensively and won an event with Colette - her upgrades and supporting cast meant she was just ahead for me. Not any more...
  12. The enhanced Arcane Reservoir is 2SS, the other one is 1SS. These upgrades have, in my opinion at least, the potential to push Lucius to the top tier. He's actually now a better support Master than Colette with more useful scheme and Soulstone manipulation tricks - who would have thought we'd ever say that? Plus you get to spend the game calling your opponent a dim bulb with a straight face (Dim Bulb is the condition applied to prevent the enemy model cheating fate).
  13. Just to clarify a couple of points; No, there are no painting requirements. It's encouraged (I have shiny trophies for the top 3 best painted crews after all) but not required. This event is the weekend of GenCon and I won't allow new models without the actual book or cards. The only way you can get hold of wave 5 stuff in time is to go to Indianapolis on Friday, come back and build your models on Saturday and then play the event on Sunday. If you are mad and/or rich enough to do that, you go for it. Needless to say, I don't expect there to be any wave 5 action... The July errata will be in use. So if you play Arcanists or use Stuffed Piglets, best get that downloaded and read.
  14. Time for some random lunacy. Hannah copies Pine Box off the Death Marshal with Make a New Entry and she goes after Yasunori with it. It's a 0 so you have 2AP to either move or focus. You can use Soulstones for positive flips if you want to. Lucius can use Commanding Presence to make her walk and she shouldn't need any help to pass. Once Yasunori is in the box it has to beat a WP8 model in a WP duel to get out again. For extra hilarity, add Francisco and El Mayor. WP10. Icing on the cake? Perdita with Aura Ancestral and Abuela marrying Hannah into the Family. WP12. Death Marshal Recruiters with Debt to the Guild (they're finding their way into my crews a lot at the moment anyway) will enjoy giving the buried Yasunori a good kicking from anywhere on the board. I have genuinely used Hannah in Guild a fair bit, including the WP8 Pine Box routine. Lots of 1 action casts for her to copy and she's a model I find quite easy to get good mileage from off her base card. In terms of Yasunori, it's essentially a Rider that doesn't get any tougher. It can be punched in the face very hard and it won't enjoy the treatment much at all. Appreciate that's my answer to most things but I've never found Yasunori that difficult to kill. The 5-attacks-in-a-turn routine with Lucius and a Witchling Thrall should do the job. Bait it out with a sacrifice if needs be or alpha strike it early.
  15. Paid up. Will see if I can rustle up some travel buddies. EDIT: Nuts, double-booked! Can't make it after all. Sorry.
  16. Badge of Office says hello. With Nellie in particular, I've started taking Bloodwretches as mercenaries. Those things are brutal if you can give them Fast, and Nellie with Delegation happens to be very good at giving out Fast. If a Bloodwretch does its Rage Builds action and then charges in, it attacks at positive flips, has a 3/4/6 track, and every time it damages you draw 2 cards then discard 1. When I was particularly card starved I sent one in against the Printing Press - with the Press' Armour 2 and being able to ensure weak damage, the Press took 2 damage total and I got to cycle cards.
  17. No problem at all with asking the question. Glad that people such as your good self are taking the time to think 'how can we do things better'.
  18. I think this is one of those where the enjoyment of players overrides any potential concern over rankings. I agree wholeheartedly with Clousseau on this one and have been known to take it a step further - if there are clubmates who I know play each other multiple times a week and they get drawn together round 2, I'll separate them then as well if I can (shifting them up or down a table so they still play someone with similar results). Round 3 you get what you're given. The example that sticks in my mind, and I know that they've changed their systems etc so it doesn't happen again, was when a group of guys came down from Stirling to Mansfield to play in an event, and one of their number played nothing but his clubmates after what was an 8-9 hour round trip. That's one of those where I'd intervene round 2 if I could. If you commit so much time and effort to come down and play new people, then you should play new people. Getting to compete against different opponents is such a key draw for events. If it's a small event and one club overwhelmingly makes up the field then it's common sense - the rule will have to be relaxed. But in an event with 16+ players then that clubmate filter has to be in place. I don't see there ever being a set of circumstances where I'd make clubmates play each other first round at one of my events. Appreciate where the original poster is coming from but couldn't disagree with him more.
  19. Thanks everyone! Much appreciated! After thinking on it, a model will count for the Fluff Board if it's on any of lists however you hire it. That means hiring it out of faction via Jack Daw or Hoffman, a mercenary in their home faction or anything else we haven't yet thought of! Trophies are on their way. Diamonds for 1st 2nd and 3rd in both painting and gaming, and best sports, and the Fluff Board. Trophies for best in faction and best loser.
  20. That one I'll answer now - yes, it will count. Same for Steam Arachnid Swarms with Hoffman etc.
  21. Let me think about that one I'll ask someone smarter than me and we'll work out a fair way of doing it!
  22. Thanks Cai! Fluff Board is now posted. Giving the event a big last plug to try and get people signed up. I'm ordering the trophies this weekend!
  23. Personally I like to get Sonnia up to the centre of the board. It makes it very difficult to hide from her, and means that Francisco can still influence the games. He's just on a short leash! I've used Hannah and Samael Hopkins as a pair and will do again. Having Hannah use her 0 to copy Burn Them Out, in order to light up a target for Hopkins to Rapid Fire from safety, was quite effective.
