  1. OK, rules pack uploaded and ticket link now working. The more people come, the more toys I can persuade Warzone to throw in the prize pool, so please do come along for some Malifaux relates lunacy!
  2. Hey all, Having decided I wanted to play Gremlins and Arcanists this year, it turns out there's far too much in either faction to do both so have decided to go with the little green men. As I'd built up a massive stack of Arcanist stuff, I've decided it's best for this to go to good homes rather than sit on my shelf and make me feel guilty... I'm in the UK but happy to post anywhere at cost. A tracking number will be required though, otherwise I'm exposed thanks to Paypal's rules! Will do deals if there's enough stuff being bought. Please drop me a DM (or Tweet of Facebook message or email or whatever!) if you want to talk. OK, the list... Smoke and Mirrors - Colette plastic crew box - new sealed. £22.50 Rail Crew - Mei Feng plastic crew box - new sealed. £15 Coryphee - contains 2 plastic Coryphee - new sealed. £7.50 Snow Storm - 'classic' resin/metal Snow Storm - some assembly work on the Yeti, otherwise as new. £10 Blessed of December - 'classic' metal - some assembly work, otherwise as new. £7.50 Silent One - 'classic' metal - assembled, unpainted. £5 Gunsmiths - contains 2 plastic Gunsmiths from Black Friday - new sealed. £15 Angelica - plastic model from Black Friday - new sealed. £10
  3. Gotta love the croc bomb. Take a buried Bad Juju (if you can) and Killjoy. Throw a couple of From the Shadows Bayou Gators up in your opponent's face. Take a picture of that face when he realises that once he kills one of those crocs, which he will have to do because they're nasty given half a chance, out come Juju and Killjoy. Have done that many times, or a variant thereof. Works even if Juju doesn't start buried. Oh well, just Killjoy to the face then. If Juju does get killed then that second Gator is suddenly hurling himself at stuff... No, it isn't optimal. But usually, the fun stuff isn't. :)
  4. Sign me up for both side events please. On the million to one chance I actually wind up in the Masters (not gonna happen but I can dream) save me a spot for Sunday...
  5. Quick one - when I hit the $150 trigger, Francisco and Firestarter are added to the cart, but when I go over $300 the same doesn't happen with Dufresne and Barbaros. Can I safely assume those will be added to the orders behind the scenes?
  6. Hi all, As the title says, looking for the metal alternative Rasputina. Anyone got one to sell on? Based in the UK for postage purposes.
  7. Just to confirm, this is with my blessing - I have the utmost respect for Graeme and confidence that he will deliver. Unfortunately I'm not able to attend and therefore run the sweepstakes but I will be providing Graeme with all my files and the payments sent to me. I'll also be handing over the on the day forms.
  8. Greetings all, One thing I've missed from my days playing Warhammer Fantasy was the traditional batspit crazy festive event run between Christmas and New Year. So I figured I might as well have a go! Slay Belles is a 3-game story encounter with a festive theme. The games will be nothing like your standard tournament games! The aim of the event is to give you an excuse to throw your Christmas presents onto the gaming table, so it will be open faction with no painting requirements. Bring what you want and throw it on the table, as long as it's built! This is on the proviso that nobody tries to 'break' the scenarios - if I think you're doing that, you'll wind up with a Lucius crew to play with instead... The event will be held at Warzone Workshop in Northampton on Sunday December 27th, starting at 1030 and finishing at 1630. Tickets will be £12.50 including tea, coffee and doughnuts, and the link will be up by the end of the day. We have space for up to 24 players. Hope to see you there! Rules pack can be found here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/i3ephcoj0bpn60g/Slay Belles.pdf?dl=0 Tickets can be bought from here: http://warzoneworkshop.co.uk/Events/Slay-Belles -A-Festive-Malifaux-Story-Encounter FAQs What's your position on proxies? No Malifaux model can be used as another Malifaux model without conversion work having been done - no putting a Canine Remains on the table and claiming it's a Guild Hound, for example. Using appropriate models from other ranges - for example a Wild West Exodus Native American as Big Jake - is fine as long as it's clear what the model is representing. If in doubt send me a picture and I'll let you know yes or no. Will the event be ranked? No - it's a story encounter, and the rankings will probably be closed between seasons. Is there a painting competition? Yes, there will be a painting competition. You can enter a full crew of roughly 50SS - I won't be counting, but there is unlikely to be space to dump an entire faction on the table if that's what you were wanting to do! There is also a prize for the best Sinister Effigy - you'll need to see the rules pack for what he is. Entrants 1. Graeme Nicholls 2. Joel Henry 3. Thomas Henry 4. Matt Ledgerwood 5. David Loyd-Hearn 6. Huw Jenkins 7. Karl McConnell 8. Craig Woods 9. Dan Humpage 10. Interested Elessarion30 Mr Eless Spare Player Me! PS I'm aware Slay Belles is also the name of a Christmas album from a drag queen. However I was so chuffed with myself for thinking of it, I'm using it anyway!
  9. As a Guild lunatic... 1. Guild Austringers. This should surprise nobody. 2. Brutal Effigy. 6 from 7 Guild Masters are all about bringing pain and any time you get benefits from doing that, plus another cheap scheme runner, is great. Plus the model might just be my favourite plastic at the moment. 3. Peacekeeper. Lord Stompy Bits is a mainstay in my case and sees a lot of use. He tanks. He hits. He drags. He controls scheme markers. He scares the bejeezus out of living models. I have to confess I detest the plastic model as I find the metal just so much more characterful, but whatever your personal preference Peacekeeper is a beast.
  10. Thanks everyone for coming, and again thanks for the kind words. It was a really great event to run, as it always is with the Malifaux community! We had a lot of players taking in their first tournament (nearly a quarter of the field) and everyone seems to have enjoyed it. Big win for everyone there. Final prizes worked out as follows; Winner: Craig Johnson (10T) 2nd: Matt Ledgerwood (Ressers) 3rd: Joel Henry (Neverborn) Best Painted: Haydn Smith (Guild) 2nd: Ben Halford (Ressers) 3rd: Matt Spooner (10T) (DBW) Best Sports: Ross Clarke (Gremlins) Honourable Mention: Craig Bennett (Outcasts) Best Loser (Last Place): Ian Bennett (Ressers) Best Craig Woods: Craig Woods (Outcasts) A quick word on sportsmanship - I've never seen anyone manage to achieve votes from all of their opponents before, so to have both Ross and Craig do it here was amazing! Unfortunately there was only 1 trophy, and Ross took it due to getting a vote from an opponent he beat 10-0 and taking it on the chin when he blew up his own Master with someone else's Punk Zombie! Final placings and the results from each round are here for the stats freaks. Thanks again to all, and hope to see you at the next Warzone event.
  11. Postcode for the Mayorhold car park is NN1 3HA. Free all day, secure multi storey job. It's where I'll be! To get to the venue from there, head out of the pedestrian exit, cross the road and go down the hill. You should go past a Subway on your left. Turn left, go through the Market Square, and the Market Place shopping centre is ahead of you. Go to the escalators at the back of the centre, go up a floor, and Warzone is in front of you on the right. Tournament is upstairs.
  12. Just so everyone knows, the latest FAQ will be in use. Unzipped versions of the docs are available here; https://www.dropbox.com/sh/4hf5anlmk9kgd92/AABpP_mSY2IQyU28KVb56FCQa?dl=0
  13. Handler's condition means all models suffering damage take Burning +1 as well. So if you get hit with Blasts from Burt, you're on fire.
  14. Strongarm Suit sees a lot of action for me - that ability to charge out of engagement and across terrain is invaluable. Really comes into its own in Guard the Stash as well as it can leap over the Stash markers. Burt Jebsen comes in with Sonnia a fair bit. Crackerjack Timing is awesome, he can really bring the hurt in melee and if a Witchling Handler is around the blasts on his gun can do Burning damage. Taelor regularly. Love her triggers and can get enough movement shenanigans going that she's up the field pretty quickly. Plus Welcome to Malifaux.
  15. We have our first entrant, and it's last year's winner trying his luck again!
  16. I can confirm that Ben Harris' ticket is now the property of Jamie Matthews. May his cards be much better than mine would have been...
  17. Greetings all! After the success of last year's M2GT sweepstake, it's back for the UK Nationals. The aim is the same as ever - raise money for #WAAC, have fun, and maybe, if you're exceptionally good (or bad!) at picking players, end up with a few quid for toys for next year's event! How it works is relatively simple. The entire Nationals field, all 98 players, have been grouped by where they are in the UK rankings (on malifauxrankings.com, as of today), and put into pools. These range from pool A, where you find the very best players we have to offer, golden ticket winners and Joel Henry, all the way down to pool E, where we can safely say these guys won't be saving space in the car for silverware! We also have a wildcard pool this year. Given there is a Swedish invasion, and I have absolutely no idea which of them are any good, they get their own pool... At the end of the tournament, each player gets a score equivalent to where they finished in the event. The winner gets 1 point, 2nd gets 2 points, all the way down to the wooden spoon carrier getting the maximum 98. All entries pick 1 player from each pool to form their team, and at the end of the tournament, the team with the lowest score is the winner and will net whoever made it a prize! For example, and these choices should bear no relevance to anyone's picks, the following two teams are entered; Squig All-Stars Pool A: Graham Bursnell Pool B: Adam Hutchinson Pool C: Brooks Martin Pool D: Conrad Gonsalves Pool E: Claire Hearn Wildcard: Joakim Engstrom Team Twitter Pool A: Benjamin Crowe Pool B: Conor Rooney Pool C: Dom Westerland Pool D: Mike Hutchinson Pool E: Adrian Mills Wildcard: Elinore Ronning The players selected finish, and the teams score, as follows; Squigs All-Stars Graham Bursnell: 53rd = 53 points Adam Hutchinson: 31st = 31 points Brooks Martin: 9th = 9 points Conrad Gonsalves: 90th = 90 points Claire Hearn: 81st = 81 points Joakim Engstrom: 22nd = 22 points Total score: 286 points Team Twitter Benjamin Crowe: 2nd = 2 points Conor Rooney: 13th = 13 points Dom Westerland: 24th = 24 points Mike Hutchinson: 56th = 56 points Adrian Mills: 97th = 97 points Elinore Ronning: 27th = 27 points Total Score: 219 points In this example (and please don't hold me to these predictions, they're clearly rubbish - no way Graham Bursnell is that good), Team Twitter would win from Squigs All-Stars. Entry is very simple, and you're free to enter as many times as you like. I need your team(s) by email, PM, posted on this board or handed to me on the forms I'll have on the day. Please don't try and tweet them to me because I'm a dolt and I might miss the tweet. I must have your team(s) before round 1 starts! I also need your money. £2 by PayPal (PM me for details, I don't want to post them publicly) or handed to me on the day with your entry. Your £2 will be used as follows; - £1 straight to the Wargamers Against All Cancer charity campaign - 75p to winner's pot, to be awarded to the entrant of the lowest-scoring team - 15p to the runner up pot, to be awarded to the entrant of the second lowest team - 10p to the wooden spoon pot, to be awarded to whoever managed to put together the highest-scoring team Even if you win, this isn't going to net you enough money to fly to Barbados or cover Rob Smith's bar tab. But it should get you some shiny new toys! And now, the pools... Pool A - The Uber Filthmongers of Doom Greg "One and Only" Piskosz Mark "Dreamer" Elwood Benjamin "King of the South" Crowe Graham "BluTack" Bursnell Rob "Hangover" Smith Paul "Turn 2" Butler Martin "Bearded Showgirl" Wodehouse Dr Maria "Queen Beyond the Wall" Wieland Ant "Master" Hoult Jake "Golden Ticket" Barlow Joel "Papa Squig" Henry Pool B - The Nearly Men (& Panzer) Ben Harris Conor Rooney Joe Wood Martin Jones Peter Sidaway Aaron Bailey Paul Campbell Connor Barker David Hill Ben Sime Jimmy Balderstone Aidan Kirk Graham Allington James Reeves Luke Cocksedge Adam Perry Mike Marchel Josh Leak David Hamilton Adam Hutchinson Craig Johnson John Wharton Pool C - Good, But Not Quite Good Enough Brooks Martin Nate Zettle Tim Brown Mark Shepherd Josh Fletcher Stuart Snares Bob McCallum Ben Halford Nathan Chenery Bradley Downing Mark Byrne Jan Proudley Joe Taylor David Brown Lee Walstow Paul Hansell Dom Westerland Andreas Frisch Arran Jones Austin Capewell Scott Porter Pool D - The Not Really Club David Payne Phil Hawtin Michelle Dallas Gareth Henry Bruno Santos Mike Hutchinson Garry Burgess Will Malcolm Vaughan Langton Jon Hill Mike Taylor Graeme Nicholls Phillipa Tickner Cy Dudley Daryl Regan Bennett Morley Mike Soar David McGuire Scott Weldon Mick Green Paul Flory Rob Balmforth David Valente Conrad EJ Gonsalves Nicholas Furze Pool E - Must Try Harder Alastair Crowe Claire Hearn Joe Hadfield Chris Tomlin Richard Preston Adrian Mills Jakab Sennett Nick Ferrier James Boots Paul Williamson Sam Batsford Durham_Red (if anyone knows this person's real name, please let me know!) 18. From the Shadows sent over - sorry, didn't realise I had to do this until I spotted the post!
  19. Unfortunately I too can't make it - something's up and I can't get away.
  20. Cheers for the terrain offers, all gratefully received! I've updated the top post with details of the painting competition and the trophies we've ordered.
  21. Trophies are being sorted out - tin cups for winner, 2nd place and 3rd place, plus best sports and best painted, with medals for 2nd and 3rd place painted. Given the number of outrageously talented painters turning up, we felt it only fair to offer due encouragement and reward! Is anyone able to throw a table's worth of terrain in their car please? We are definitely going to need a bit of help there.
  22. I couldn't agree with splitting it. It's great to get everyone in one room (OK, several rooms) from across the UK, and several other countries too! I can't wait for this year's event because my draw could be northern player, southern player, Northern Irish player, Swedish player. We can't do that anywhere else. Ref the NWGC, the last 3 times I've gone up there I've come back with a throat or chest bug. I'm not going back until the place is thoroughly cleaned and they stop pumping fumes into the room from that generator by the bar, whatever it is. Love Element and the locals, hate the dependence on Strepsils afterwards.
  23. Why bother? The tournament organiser is going to disqualify you. This. As an event organiser my position is very clear. Infinite looping is timewasting and will get you disqualified. If you don't like it, don't come to the event. Frankly if you think that's an acceptable thing to do to people who've paid their money to have fun, I'd rather you weren't there anyway... The fact that the Malifaux scene is willing to police itself, particularly with respect to a rules abuse like this, is in my view one of its standout features. Over here in the UK we're welcomed back to venues because any rules queries are dealt with quietly and responsibly between players. I've been told about a major UK tournament in 1.5 when Hamelin was acknowledged as being horrifically powerful, so nobody took him. Not one person in one game. Don't be the herbert that tries to break this. Don't infinite loop your Railwalk.
  24. Would also vote for Sanctuary. We know from Maelstrom days that Mansfield's accommodation can more than cope with a sudden influx of gamers wanting beer and takeaways. The venue's big enough, it's central and it ticks the boxes. Plus, and this is normally a pretty big plus, it would also be a cheap weekend!
