  1. Yeah, normal Tara will still have the chest-hole as that's a pretty major mechanical and background part of her. I'd assume no claw arm, however, as that seems to be a relatively random inclusion. Also assume a smaller Nothing Beast. Void Wretches may or may not be smaller. Karina would likely be a bit different as well since she shares a sprue with NB.
  2. I'd say you've nailed the Nothing Beast and Void Wretches. Just the right level of detail to make them appropriately creepy. Tara looks suitably undead and Karina looks surprisingly good in blue. Nice work! The Lynch crew looks pretty well done also - nice attention to detail on the bases, especially. I like the choice of blue for the Hungering Darkness and the Illuminated. Well done!
  3. Well, the December-slated Crews are an obvious one if they're available by Black Friday. Additionals I'd like: - Brewmaster crew - Ashes & Dust - Desolation Engine - Lelu and Lilitu - Ironsides crew
  4. Leaving non-gaming things out, I'd tend to only agree if the product owner has a presence there. When it comes to gaming production (miniatures, cards, and whatnot), several Chinese companies (no idea which ones, it's always just labeled as "the manufacturer in China" or "the new prints from China" or what have you) have a tendency to say "good enough" with the first several attempts at a product. Either the game company rides them until they get it right or they release an inferior product. Ultimately "we had to change manufacturers" becomes a pretty common comment from game companies as several plastic model producers seem apathetic in their work even at the management level - it's a job, not a passion and such. Sometimes you get a company that's absurdly eager to help you out. If we're to believe Adam Poots (and I tend to), the constant delay of Kingdom Death: Monster is due to both himself and the rep at the production company being obsessed with taking the quality up to 11 and making it a premier product. However, sometimes you end up a company that says "Eh, okay" and you get things like Mantic's plastic goblins or men-at-arms, that eventually cause the gaming company to completely re-evaluate their partnerships and QC. Now to the final point - I don't even remember if Mantic's issues came from a Chinese producer - but that's ultimately irrelevant. This is going to happen no matter where the production facility is located - it just so happens that a ton of them are apparently in China. This exacerbates things by being some distance from the usual target markets of Europe and North America, so there can be a lot of extra waiting and exasperation from both sides of the equation.
  5. Isn't much of the same true for Joss, though? As in, can't Levi and Hoffman both hire him in some way? I'd say it's more a matter of "Okay, sprue's full, guess Ryle will be alone" than any purchasing considerations.
  6. Hope dies last for everyone expecting Ryle in Hoffman's box.
  7. Ooh, I really like the Oiran on the right - nice work!
  8. I assumed Cobblepot just paid off the Wyrd staff or it's some sort of deal for drink discounts at the Iceberg Lounge.
  9. Given the style of the terrain and the weird scaling issues, they'd have to lower their prices by about 50% to get me to consider them. I mean, if they look cheap (which they do, imo), they really need to be cheap. Happy for those of you who like them, but these aren't for me.
  10. Wyrd is fond of making questionable decisions and not detailing why said decisions were made - which is perfectly within their rights as a company and they still provide a decent amount of insight compared to some competitors for hobbyist dollars. Thing is, whether they use the new Colette artwork as a miniature or not, people are still going to buy her box set. I don't think any of the plastic crew boxes (or models within them) have been so despised that they just rot on the shelves of LGSs the world over - that's about the only thing that I can think that would warrant a full redo. However, things to consider: 1) There was very different art for Lord Chompy Bits in some of the earlier M2E stuff - ultimately he went back to a look matching his Nightmare edition. 2) Zoraida, Von Schill, Samael, and a few others got model releases that were derived from artwork not seen in the book.
  11. I always liked the thought of the waif darkening and turning into ash, then bursting into nothing with Levi standing in its place, brushing ashes off his coat.
  12. Hmm...a crew box of choice completely gender-swapped could be entertaining, though probably doesn't count for straight alternates (Perdita, Colette, Lady Justice, Von Schill, and McCabe would all be fun options for it, though ). I like the idea of alternates of the dual faction masters, though some lend themselves better than others. Zoraida and Lynch both seem to fit in regardless of faction, while Lucius and McMourning could stand for a more Neverborn or Guild model respectively. Honestly, though, I think a good idea would be to introduce alternate models of the masters...and then package them with alternate versions of their totems as well. That gives an easier option for people who already have the core crew but no metal totem existed (Von Schill), allows for alternate totems that are actually the right size for their base (Brass Arachnid), and provides an outlet for masters who have boring crew box models (probably Colette) or oddly posed ones for the character (Prancing Kirai, I'm Cold Rasputina).
  13. These feel quite expensive for the look of the finished product... ...I'm going to pass. There isn't enough on these that scream "unique" to make them worth picking up - I'm content playing on fantasy and sci fi boards (or forest/desert/etc. boards). I'd actually be a little embarrassed to pull these out, in all honesty. I mean, good on you guys and I'm sure plenty of people will pick these up, but they're just not for me. Too plain, weird detail and sizing mismatches, and a price that says the detail and scaling should be of a lot higher quality.
  14. I pretty much left WarSeer after the owners and mods threw outright hissy fits about Kickstarter. For a while, they just removed Kickstarter threads - "Those companies should pay for advertising on WarSeer if they want to be discussed!" was the cry, but no response was given when everyone pointed out that GW and PP don't advertise on the site and get talked about nonetheless. Seriously, the entire management staff of WarSeer was just awkwardly (and embarrassingly, as I posted quite frequently back then) throwing fits about Kickstarter before finally "giving in" and putting a hidden-away sub-section for the discussion of it. It was disgusting and very anti-community, IMO. --- More on topic - if there's no interest in Malifaux on WarSeer, it's more a note of that community not being interested, so there's no need to expand. There are plenty of other places to discuss this game
  15. I'm really surprised at all the mentions of Seamus - he's relatively generic and only really stands out due to a steady history of being shoved down everyone's throat I dunno - the Redchapel gang would be pretty low on my list of suggestions. Seamus is rather unique - even among other Ressers - so I don't see him as being an appropriate spokesmodel. Top 5, though... 1) Death Marshall. There's your Western and Horror mixed with Magic right there. And any time I see another company put out a coffin-backed/-equipped model, the general responses I hear tend to compare it to a Wyrd Death Marshall. 2) Jack Daw. More Western/Horror/Magic, but the malevolent sentient hanged corpse is pretty unique to the setting, but instantly evokes thoughts of Malifaux - probably due to gracing the last rulebook (or a recent one). 3) Teddy. Horror/Magic/Wyrdness - Bad things happen in Malifaux, even if you're a teddy bear. 4) Nicodem (plastic or alt metal). Horror/Steampunk/Magic - he feels more representative of the Ressers and showcases the general time period, technological level, and magic capabilities. 5) Leveticus (only so low because I'm not a huge fan of his metal, but I like his new art). Leveticus and crew are effectively Malifaux in a nutshell. Steampunk, necromancy, destructive magic, sentient forces of nature, and the sort of abominations that make you question your own sanity.
  16. I am very torn about this... ...on one hand, it's in theme and looks simple enough for gaming purposes. On the other hand, the components seem very rough and mismatched. A stair step is big enough to fit 2 or three large trees on it, the headstones are probably 7-8 feet tall (and 6 inches thick), and the mortar lines in the bricks look big enough for Mortimer to hide his arm inside of. I mean, it looks okay from a distance, but it's very clearly game-ready. Which is both good and bad as it's easy to play on but really screws with the immersion when you have a full table set-up as components will be mis-matched in size and any steps/platforms have to be big enough to accomodate 30/40/50mm bases instead of the relatively small "footprint" of the models sans bases. I just realized that we don't really use steps/stairs in our games...this is why. The price is going to make or break this. I mean...it looks cheap (with a few tiny touches of detail thrown in here and there, like the fine iron wall sections of the picture with Nicodem or the manhole covers), so it's going to have to be priced cheaply. I mean, if you come out asking for GW pricing on that stuff, I am just going to shake my head. I dunno, I'm really not that enthralled by it - it just strikes me as quick and utilitarian but I have the odd feeling it's going to be far more expensive than I'd be willing to pay.
  17. The first thought I had at the mention of throwing a personal "brand" on the open space was race cars I just got an image of Hannah with the Freikorps logo in one spot and ads for Dr. McMourning's Miracle Elixir and Hamelin Pest Control on the other Have you considered looking into Kingdom Death? XD
  18. Luckily, that one's really just a minor complaint and easily remedied, as you mention Oh good, so now she can be NASCAR Hannah, Freikorps Marketing Vehicle I'd actually argue the other way - TtB Hannah is reminiscent of a less-sophisticated (i.e. bigger and maybe clunkier) version of Hoffman's gear fused with relatively bog-standard Malifaux-style construct bits. It's further outfitted to accomodate a Caster, holding a massive book and wielding her weapon of choice, in this case some crazy censer of doom. Retail Hannah actually has to require some increased sophistication as the legs are separate components - while TtB appears to perhaps simply enhance Hannah's natural movement capabilities (or enable leg function), Retail appears to, once again, be a giant robot with a woman glued on front. Obviously there's something going on under the hood to make forward motion possible without hurling the poor girl unarmed into combat. Hannah's Beatstickery (what there is of it) comes from an arcane instrument as opposed to a giant mechanical fist. TtB has the former, Retail has the latter. Obviously I agree TtB Hannah is superior in sculpt (and I just tracked one down for a reasonable price and she now adorns my desk). It's a good thing there's heavy "potential" from the retail version, as it needs a lot of work to look like Hannah instead of a female proto-Iron Monger. I'm assuming you mean that you start at Retail and work towards TtB? That would explain the lack of sense in the construction (assuming it's not highly sophisticated, as I mumbled on earlier ) and the lack of any use of her actual tools. However, that'd make more sense if Hannah had started as a knife-and-blade merc who slowly grew in arcane power - which she really isn't. She came in as someone who'd stop in battle to make notes and bash things with a smoking metallic orb - she'll appear on most battlefields as an ill-advised modification from the movie Real Steel. Retail's one of the newer instances of a model that barely matches the stats and abilities. People still searching the card for Dashel's Breaching Axe will probably know what I mean. It's a bit like giving Ramos a sniper rifle, Seamus an actual cannon to wheel around, or Zoraida a pair of punch daggers. Yes, ultimately the effect would be the same (Ramos could fire into engagements with a fair bit of accuracy, Seamus would have an obsence 1/turn damage shot, and Zoraida could do a melee puncture), but that's not how those characters are presented in rules or description. Just as Ramos isn't firing a highly accurate rifle into combat, Hannah isn't smashing things with mechanized fists. It just bothers me, as I'm sure everyone's noticed People wait and wait for Malifaux releases and it always stings a little when they pull a "Okay! New artwork!" model - I'd also extend that to the Whiskey Golem, where the version everyone went on and on about also ended up being a limited edition. Who knows what the retail Whiskey Golem is going to look like, though that should be easier to get right...it's just a robot made of barrels...though Hannah is just "female in exo suit wielding book and chain weapon, primary Caster, secondary Melee". Alternate armament and impractical design should really be used for limited release items - by all means, make Limited Edition Electric Rifle Ramos or Special Edition Gucci Bag Pandora, just don't make that the "standard" form of them. Honestly, had they swapped TtB Hannah and Retail Hannah, I'd have no issue at all.
  19. Also - instead of removing the item, could the good people of Wyrd please just use an "Out of Stock" icon, note, or graphic? Seriously, we get at least one post per week from people asking if a relatively new item is out of production or getting remade because the web store handles out of stock items so unintuitively. So, item goes out of stock, add the following: "Currently Out of Stock. Expected to be back in stock in # weeks." Item goes out of production, remove the item from the webstore. Item is metal, add: "While supplies last! No longer in production!" ---- Alternatively, add in a gallery page of all your currently offered miniatures so people stop using the store as the gallery...
  20. I'd second Bengt - expand the contact area with plastic bits and plastic glue, then attach it via drilling to the base. It's worked out pretty well for my resin-based Malifaux stuff.
  21. Those are actually really nice models...a ton of pieces, considering, but really nice. Wyrd seems determined to get me to play Gremlins. Damn them.
  22. So, I can see some stereotypes in the Ten Thunders - you've got the master monk (Shenlong), the ninja assassin (Misaki), the ancient mystic (Yan Lo), and maybe a weak sort of stereotype in the street fighter-ishness of Mei Feng...but what the heck is stereotypical about the Native American cyborg or the female Union enforcer?
  23. I like it! The green is "GW studio Dark Eldar" in tone, but that's not a criticism - it looks great! I also really like the red - I'd say the strong tone is a benefit as I find a lot of people over-mute their reds. Nice work - looking forward to seeing more!
  24. I usually hate all things pork, but this...this looks really nice. Well done, Wyrd...and thanks Gmort for the unboxing.
